Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Ability to place trades with confidence on market movement and up-to-date data. May not be comparable exactly to Bloomberg, however, this platform is great for our objectives. We are able to pull the necessary information to place trades and study the market in real-time. Allowing us to have an overview of accounts is a major plus.

Great tool for traders but charts still need improvement

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The product provides a sophisticated charting system that is capable of various advanced analysis and statistical tools. It also provides general trends, real-time quotes, and various screening algorithms. There is also the availability of analyst reports, company news, and investment data. The option-chain includes details on open interest, volume, delta, and other key indicators. It would be difficult to make investment decisions without this type of information.

  • The advanced charts have made improvements but are still behind Thinkorswim

Likelihood to Recommend

The product has always been a great tool for quotes, news, option chains and trading. Although the charts have made big improvements, they still lag behind TDAmeritrade's Thinkorswim. If your primary focus is general trading, Active Trade Pro is great. In my opinion, if you are looking for the best chart analysis tool, Thinkorswin is still king.

I like that everything is in real-time, and it has many different pieces of functionality for trading and research. It's a desktop app which is nice if you like trading on your laptop.

Cons

  • Some screens are hard to navigate from one to another and to find the correct page you are looking for.
  • I do wish there were a few more alert options
  • User Experience is not that great

This allows me to easily keep track of what’s going on in the financial markets. Also allows me to do my research work for Portfolio management as well.

First of all, it addresses our objective #1: Buying and selling securities. It allows us to make smarter trading decisions before, during, and after each trade with Active Trader Pro and also provides real-time insights and visual snapshots to monitor our investments and powerful trading tools.

  • Sort order in watch lists cannot be changed.
  • Changing account aliases not intuitive.
  • History can be hard to look up.

Fantastic for the planning and execution of trades, as follows: (1) Offers nearly 50 market filters, including technical, social sentiment, and custom options filters, (2) supports analysis of option market sentiment with volatility and open interest statistics, as well as the day’s biggest trades, (3) functionality to trade equities, ETFs, simple and complex option strategies with extended-hours and directed trading capabilities, (4) capacity to create and save up to 50 orders and place them at the right time, (5) helps manage risk and profit potential with conditional orders, (6) allows placement of a variety of simple and complex multi-leg option orders, (7) provides ability to monitor portfolio with streaming quotes, real-time gain and loss, streaming balances, and streaming order status updates, and (8) allows creation of personalized layouts to see the market and portfolio information that’s important to you Set trade defaults, create shortcuts, and use hotkeys to quickly and efficiently navigate through the platform.

I use this software daily to track my investments as well as buy/sell stocks and mutual funds. I love the simplicity of it!

Pros

  • Customizable to display information the way I want to see it.
  • Clean, straightforward interface to let me quickly access information from cursory overview to detailed tax information.
  • Equipped with good security measures.
  • Very user friendly.
  • The software has some nice features, including watch lists, market news, alerts, and real-time balances. The program also displays tax-lot information in real-time. There are advanced options tools as well. Active Trader Pro is able to submit up to 20 orders at once using a multi-order ticket.
  • Active Trader Pro has many available features. Alerts can be set, watch lists can be created, and market news can be followed. Balances are shown in real-time. Each of these elements can be assigned to its own window. Tax-lot info can be shown in real-time as well. A multi-order trading ticket can submit 20 orders at once. Up to 50 orders can be built and saved.

Cons

  • Currently, it only allows up to 50 positions to display on one screen, if it could expand to more than 50 positions so that people who have more than 50 positions in their portfolio can display the entire portfolio on one screen.
  • Some of the views start out the same way every time you load the software, where it would make more sense to start where you left off last time.
  • It frequently changes your trade strategy with poor defaults and is very clunky (not streamlined) to use.

A stock portfolio management tool that helps traders monitor active investments via real-time alerts, risk tracking, analytics, and more. it is best for individual investors, employers, institutions, charitable donors, and more to manage portfolios, track market updates, and analyze the stock prices and their performance. There are some trading platforms that offer three mobile apps (for example Thinkorswim) - for beginner, intermediate and advanced traders - it is definitely an advantage over Fidelity's one app that can't please all three groups of customers.

HSA and 401k accounts. We use the products to allow our employees to access and manage their own HSA and 401Ks without having to go through the benefits team. Fidelity offers customer support for us as well and manages 401K Contributions percentages for us then sends us a file that we then use the change our employees’ payroll contributions

I think Fidelity Active Trader Pro does everything very well. They are generally very accessible for assistance from the benefits team and works well with our employees. If you are looking for 1:1 investment assistance, you may need to make that a clear priority up front, but they generally are very helpful and works well with our team for what we need

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We recommend employees use this app to view their 401(k) and HSA portfolios. The business case is to encourage employees to be proactively keeping up with their investment accounts. Some of our employees do not have personal laptops and may not regularly use a computer at work, but they most all have smart phones.

  • Presents the portfolio breakdown in an easy way to understand
  • Provides a quick way to buy and sell assets

Cons

  • There are limited tools provided to help me decide which assets to purchase and sell.
  • It is often difficult to find purchasable assets outside of stocks, such as options.
  • It is often difficult to purchase assets that are considered penny stocks, relative to other brokers.

Likelihood to Recommend

For beginner trades/portfolio managers, this app is easy to use. For anyone looking to use a more advanced model though, this app is definitely limited.
