Dashlane is absolutely one of the best No doubt about it

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Dashlane is used with the majority of our employees to store and manage secure password vaults. Though it is not currently mandatory, we are considering it because of the effectiveness, convenience, and security Dashlane offers. Many of our employees that have embraced Dashlane have discovered how lifechanging it really is! They have found that they can focus more on their productivity, rather than constantly resetting all their frequently forgotten passwords across multiple platforms. Dashlane also helps secure our firm assets by promoting healthy password security and offers the IT Admin tools to monitor and push our users to strengthen password habits through the Security section of the Admin Dashboard.

Pros

  • Reliable autofill on most websites
  • Robust features in both the Admin and personal user sense
  • Multiple convenient options for unlocking that don't require retyping the master pass on a regularly used and trusted device
  • Extensive customization options in both the Admin panel and user settings

Cons

  • I would like to see a dedicated desktop application that doesn't go through the browser. Some less tech savvy users struggle to remember Dashlane lives only in an extension.
  • Dashlane gets very weird when handling employees that have returned after being deactivated, especially if the user doesn't recall what their master pass used to be. I would love to see more robust options for IT Admin to force account recovery so that returning employees don't have to start from scratch. This has happened to us 3 times since we've had Dashlane.
  • Dashlane feels a little pricey compared to some other competitors.

Return on Investment

  • Our cybersecurity posture has drastically been improved since the adoption of Dashlane. Cybersecurity insurance looks very favorably on those that utilize password managers
  • Hundreds of hours of IT Admin time has been saved by not needing to reset passwords nearly as much at the user level.
  • User productivity is substantially improved when time is spent working and not resetting passwords over and over.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Dashane is an important part of my business. It has key
features that allow me and my development team share access to password protected resources without sharing the password itself with users. users can use Dashane to fill and login to a resource but does not necessarily show them the password. This maintains a level of security that is important to me.

We also use the secure notes feature. This allows us to securely transfer information between users that are not necessarily passwords.

We like that it comes with VPN access for users, that it lets you categorize the different types of passwords into Business and Personal groups, etc.

Pros

Cons

  • Search is lacking. The desktop app had better features
  • I can no longer find needed features. Such as the option to only use a password on a specific subdomain. this is important because I have hundreds of subdomains for testing client software builds before releasing to their domain.
  • The Mobile app and Browser Extension are not synced. I have several Secure Notes and Passwords that I cannot find anywhere in my mobile app, but can find without issues in the extension.

Return on Investment

  • We develop software and would build this for ourselves, but it saves us the cost of doing so.
  • It has access to a VPN which is useful in some specific use cases for unusual client needs.
  • It ensures my team can share passwords securely, invisibly, and quickly for situations that require it.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We provide all of our employees with a Dashlane account during on-boarding and encourage them to set up all of their credentials using Dashlane. This has streamlined our on-boarding of new employees dramatically.

It has cut down on our IT support time. Previously, we were resetting passwords daily for users that had forgotten passwords.

It has improved our security as it encourages our employees not to reuse the same password on multiple tools and lets them know when they have used duplicate passwords and gives them an easy way to generate and save secure passwords to replace the duplicates.

We use Dashlane to share all shared account access passwords securely. As an added benefit, when a system requires that one of these passwords be changed, everyone receives the new password automatically and never have to even think about it.

We use the sharing functionality to also ensure that our full executive team has access to all of our tools just in case someone needs to fill in for tasks that they don't normal complete.

Lastly, the subscription we are on allows our employees to provide a Dashlane account to their family and friends. This has been proved to be an appreciated benefit for many of our employees.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it for keeping a hold of background passwords for Switches, Servers, etc. We also use it in our finance sector for login details to payroll applications. I personally use it for any passwords I need to keep a log of as part of my job in IT. It's also quite handy to make sure people are using secure passwords for sensitive information.

  • Being easily accessible to the right individual

  • Compatible among multiple platforms

Cons

  • It's a bit too easy for anyone to access the passwords on your computer, if you left it unlocked I mean
  • Speed of the application inside the web browser

  • It has made it easier to share credentials with new employees
  • Easier to share credentials with current employees/coworkers
  • Made everything a lot more secure then leaving sticky notes everywhere

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

At this time, we leverage Dashlane to manage the passwords used by the IT department, individually and shared among the team. It has made it easier to centralize all shared passwords instead of the typical spreadsheets and OneNote pages we were previously using. We also like using the built in password generator.

  • Sharing to a user or team is very easy.
  • Mobile app works great.

Cons

  • Increase the login timeout on the browser app.
