We use Dashlane Password Manager to manage passwords for critical server infrastructure and for shared accounts used in our Post-Production operations. This helps us to have a centrally managed password vault where updated passwords can be shared securely and updated consistently.

Secure Centralized Password Management.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

At this time, we leverage Dashlane to manage the passwords used by the IT department, individually and shared among the team. It has made it easier to centralize all shared passwords instead of the typical spreadsheets and OneNote pages we were previously using. We also like using the built in password generator.

Pros

  • Sharing to a user or team is very easy.
  • Mobile app works great.

Cons

  • Increase the login timeout on the browser app.

Team password sharing is one of the biggest use cases. I'm also an advocate for using Dashlane instead of a browser's built-in password manager, as it makes it universally available across all browsers, not just one specific one. People are also tired of having to come up with new passwords, so having the integrated password generator helps with that.

Dashane is an important part of my business. It has key
features that allow me and my development team share access to password protected resources without sharing the password itself with users. users can use Dashane to fill and login to a resource but does not necessarily show them the password. This maintains a level of security that is important to me.

We also use the secure notes feature. This allows us to securely transfer information between users that are not necessarily passwords.

We like that it comes with VPN access for users, that it lets you categorize the different types of passwords into Business and Personal groups, etc.

Cons

  • Search is lacking. The desktop app had better features
  • I can no longer find needed features. Such as the option to only use a password on a specific subdomain. this is important because I have hundreds of subdomains for testing client software builds before releasing to their domain.
  • The Mobile app and Browser Extension are not synced. I have several Secure Notes and Passwords that I cannot find anywhere in my mobile app, but can find without issues in the extension.

Likelihood to Recommend

Dashlane has been a great fit for my business due to the level of security it offers, management of the accounts, shareability and categorization of passwords. It offers me the ability to share my passwords with several users who have personal accounts without any additional costs and it is easy to upgrade them when they begin to have a need for saving their own passwords and using other features.

We use to Dashlane Password Manager as the password manager for every employee. It has helped prevent the use of notebooks, spreadsheets, and other insecure methods of storing passwords. It has also helped us, in the times we need to, with sharing passwords. Now most people don't even need to see the password, Dashlane Password Manager just autofills it for them. It also helps in situations that we cannot set up single sign on for an app. Dashlane Password Manager let's that user generate a password and not have to worry about remembering yet another password.

Any company looking to make their users lives easier and more secure. The password manager part is only a small piece of what Dashlane Password Manager can do. Features like compromised password notifications, dark web scanning, password health score and others that are equally impressive make Dashlane Password Manager an invaluable tool for us.

All our staff use Dashlane Password Manager to store log-ins and passwords. We use it to share passwords for sites that require access by multiple staff members. As all our staff work remotely, Dashlane is ideal for securely sharing information with colleagues nationwide.

  • Safely store passwords.
  • Allows multiple types of access to shared passwords.
  • Streamlines logins' to sites, saving time and frustration.

Cons

  • Using the mobile app is not as streamlined as the desktop version.
  • Using the mobile app to access apps on my phone is not 100% successful.

Likelihood to Recommend

Dashlane works exceptionally well for managing access to important sites and makes it very easy to remove access when an employee leaves the organization. Since implementing it at work, I have purchased a family plan to use at home as well.

Everyone in our team uses Dashlane for their own individual logins, but we also use it to share logins/password with other team members securely. This fixes the issue of having to manually send login details between team members, and removes the security risk that creates. It's also much quicker to do it this way, as there's nothing to do for other team members to use those passwords, they just automatically appear in their autofill.

Cons

  • No official support for using both personal and business Dashlane. Always have to login/out to access other accounts on my phone

I can't think of a scenario where it wouldn't be suitable, every business should be able to benefit from how easy Dashlane makes password management, especially across teams. The only issue is people who use the same device for personal/work logins, it's annoying when you need to access passwords across the two on the same device.

In our organisation we serve multiple clients. As part of our job we need to handle server credentials as well as client web application credentials. Prior to having Dashlane Password Manager all these credential were all over the places and people but post we had Dashlane subscription, we were able to organise the credentials much better. We have setup a team and we share the credentials with the team mates and now we effectively manage the credentials and server credentials effectively. We use the secure notes to handle the server credentials.

Pros

  • The way Dashlane managed the credentials is very easy to use
  • The secure notes comes handy when we want to store and share something other than the credentials with the team members
  • Ability to share the credentials with the team also the ability to form a team with in the organisation is very useful so that we decide what credentials to be shared with whom. For example the production environment credentials are shared only with the team that are responsible for.
  • Payment comes handy as we deal with payments and order as part of service that we offer, we integrate with different payment gateway and payment come handy to store all the test card as well as the cards that work in the production environment.

Cons

  • Say when we have saved password for a domain and in that domain if we handle OTP or any other sort of credentials, Dashlane immediately gives us the options to override those OTPs for the credentials. By accident when we click on save we end up overriding the credentials. If this functionality can be done in a better way to avoid accidental overrides will come very handy. For example bare minimum an additional confirmation before overriding will help in these situation because it gives the user a second chance to think and this avoid accidental overrides. Example: A message like "You are overriding the credentials stored for this domain and are you sure about this?"
  • We use Spaces for our organisation, when we create a credential in the organisation space, we expected that it will be shared automatically with all the people in the organisation space but it doesnt work that way. Though we create the credentials in the organisation space, we need to explicitly share the credentials via the share button. If this can be done differently it will help us some additional clicks in sharing the credentials
  • We use the secure notes the most to store some server credentials. When I search for a secure note (say for example by server name) open the secure notes to copy the user name and put in in the server (via command + tab) and when I come back to the browser to copy the password the secure notes will be already closed. I need to again search for the server, open the secure notes to copy the password. If I need to copy anything else then I need to redo the same things again and again. If this user experience can be improved it will be better.
  • In the ID's section we have very few options at the moment, if you can give some generic option that we can save along with the ability to name the type will help us a lot. Say for example I have bank account number or any other subscription details that I want to store.
  • I wish if there is a way to search all the domain by a password so that we can see easily a particular password is been used in different domains. In case of any breach or issues this comes handy to search by a password and change it quickly.
  • Sometime when we fill the form, Dashlane offers to fill it and if we wish to do it ourself the escape button doesnt makes it go. It keeps staying there and causes inconvenience while filling the forms. This happens with all the browsers.

Likelihood to Recommend

Dashlane Password Manager definitely suits most of the needs. We feel it's a perfect fit for our organisation in managing the credentials, payment card and secure notes. There are few usability changes if Dashlane makes those, it make it more convenient for us on day to day operations. By far Dashlane is one of the best product that we have used in our organisation.

We use it to manage our credentials across an array of more than 200+ services. The biggest thing this helps us with is ensuring customer and internal credential security, a must-have in our line of work.

We have peace of mind knowing that all company accounts are using unique, very strong passwords, while only being required to remember one.

Dashlane Password Manager also enables us to share passwords securely with team members, as well as revoke access quickly, which is extremely useful, especially when working with a team remotely. If someone needs to access an account, the login can be easily added to their account by an admin, and they can't see the password, which adds an extra level of security. If a staff member leaves, we can revoke access to everything in just a few clicks.

Having two different spaces for work and personal use is fantastic, helping to integrate the app into all online use, not just for work. We also use the dark web monitoring, and secure notes.

  • Admin option to turn off the 'remember for 14 days option'
