We needed a way to quickly, easily create documents on demand. Conga Composer allows our end users to do this on a click of a button. Reducing their time spent, as they were doing this individually one by one before. Due to this automation, we have reduced their workload and their stress levels.
Pros
Ease of use
branded documents
branded emails
Cons
It needs some updates, from visualforce to lightning for example.
documentation on their site needs to be the same as their youtube channel
We use Conga Composer to gather data from multiple applications and automate the document creation for internal approval processes and to generate resource resumes or our proposal process.
Pros
Template Quality
Ease of use
Usability on the Salesforce platform
Cons
Template builder (currently has improvements on roadmap I believe)
Likelihood to Recommend
Allowing for one click document generation where previous manual creation takes significantly longer.
Being able to create documents and export information from within Salesforce in an easy to read format. It has really changed the way users utilize the information.
Pros
Learning Platform
Document Creation
Knowledgeable Account Team
Cons
Document creation off of Analytics dashboards
Stream-less AI between Salesforce & Conga
Likelihood to Recommend
Salesforce recommended your document creation capabilities as the top vendor to use and incorporate with Salesforce.

We used Conga to send templated emails to our customers about their opportunities. It worked within our opportunity/account objects to send directly using our Salesforce data without having to navigate between various other platforms.
Pros
Relate to salesforce objects.
Good formatting
Salesforce integration.
Cons
UX- clunky older looking software.
Speed
Tutorials on how to edit and change Conga.
Likelihood to Recommend
Conga was helpful for some time in our organization, but it was only used for one specific email-sending task, which we decided to offboard to another system. There are so many email-sending softwares these days, and Conga is not that competitive a product.
We use it to send proposals through Salesforce for signature.
Pros
Integration with Salesforce.
Cons
integration with Salesforce is buggy.
Integration with Salesforce is missing key components such as canceling a send, updating a send, etc.
Likelihood to Recommend
I haven't used the tool outside of Salesforce, but I have just started using other tools like DocuSign because the Salesforce plugin has caused too many problems.
It is the current package solution in my company's Accounting software for printing Payment Remittances and Sales Invoices and sending documents electronically. Many of our customers use it, and as I support that software, I assist those customers with troubleshooting any issues with its use.
Pros
Quickly produces PDF documents from templates.
Allows templates for documents to be customised to suit use case.
Gives a great and consistent result for the sending of branded media.
Cons
Some customisations such as document formats cannot be catered for.
Some of the interfacing of templates could be more intuitive.
Avoid too much need for knowledge of coding and scripting for use of the product.
Likelihood to Recommend
I have nothing but praise for the product. It suits the needs of our customers extremely well, especially those who require a less generic and more branded solution to their document generation needs. The batch process capability allows our customers to send documents in bulk to their own customer base with ease.
We use Composer in several ways, from generating our Agreements with customers to merging key details from related records into automated emails that allow us to maintain our customer relationships. The primary business problem that we implemented Composer for was to digitally transform the end of our sales process, which was a very manual process of entering details into a PDF agreement and handing it off to different departments after the sales process. After implementing Composer for this use case, we identified savings of approximately two FTEs worth of work.
Pros
Merges values across several related records.
Has a range of parameters that lets you customize your document generation.
Easily integrates into Salesforce.
Cons
The Template Builder needs attention it has not been updated in some time.
The parameter helper has been broken for some time and was a great tool for building solutions.
The UI for admins needs a face lift.
Likelihood to Recommend
Composer works well for generating many types of documents. We have used it for sales agreements, operations, and design documents. We have also found it useful for merging field values into HTML email templates. However, if the document is more complex, such as a legal document where you need to swap out terms or sections, standard Composer is not great for this. Conga has other solutions that can handle these types of documents.
Integrated with SFDC, used for quote configuration using the SFDC Product object and then for Word doc generation. We are able to generate and have the latest version of the quote on the opportunities as primary and at the same time see the history of the quotes generated (they are automatically saved in the attachment section).
Pros
Customizable templates (ability to build the template from scratch)
Fast quote export straight to the PC and auto save in SFDC upon each export (<1 minute)
Multi-currency supported
Cons
Difficult to configure and maintain, Complex tool overall
Not user friendly UI (from an admin perspective)
Likelihood to Recommend
You will need an experienced admin especially for the SFDC integration part. The tool is very extensive/complete but difficult to deploy and maintain. It runs very well, however change management can be complex, especially in an organization that constantly evolves. However, it will almost certainly be able to handle most use cases (including multi currency, multi geography, all based on conditions and rules).

We use this for quotes, order forms, MSAs and SOWs. This is, in effect, our document generation tool to bring dynamic salesforce data into a document. It is looking to address the need to create documents specific to our customers without manually drafting each time. Our scope is it is used by our Sales, Renewals and PS Teams.
Pros
Final Document, if done right
Cons
It is rather clunky and hard to use
Integration with Salesforce but lacks an app so management of docs is difficult
Not recognized by many IT departments at big companies
Likelihood to Recommend
Needs a lot of improvement and more flexibility, not just limited to Salesforce.
I use Conga Composer to send documents for signatures to clients, such as proposals and approval forms, and to sign relevant documents for our business. I love the system, but there are flaws, such as limited options to edit email templates with bold fonts, highlights, etc. There are also several issues with the write-back into Salesforce, which has caused numerous delays in our business and, ultimately, a poor client experience. We manually entered data into the system, so we used Conga and Conga Merge/ Write Back codes to avoid this tedious task. Conga didn't provide much documentation or assistance in getting the data entered or the documents saved. We had over 100 clients' documents that disappeared over the month. It took Conga to fix the write-back issue, and then once it was fixed, the documents were never saved nor written back into client accounts.
Pros
Coding is easy.
Adding fields are easy.
Option for formulas.
Cons
Write back.
Resolving issues in a quicker manner- should not take a month.
They save documents once one signer completes them, regardless of whether other signers have not yet completed them.
Likelihood to Recommend
Better support and quicker resolution are needed. Compensation should be provided when the system is down for an entire month and does not work correctly for a client. This hinders our business.
