Cisco 6000 Series Network Convergence System (NCS 6000) Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Well, in our infrastructures we have to be connected to a lot of edge network equipment as well as wide area network connectivities that connect the entire organizations to the Abu Dhabi government network, which we call Abu Dhabi ad net. And also to ensure that we have accessibility to the service to the internet service provider within the country. We use these routers to ensure secure connectivity to their services.

Pros

  • Fast connection and secure connection. So when you're talking about Cisco routers, one of the best things about Cisco equipment is ease of use. Now as a network engineer by design, configuring a router requires skill and the Cisco IOS provides you with the capability to learn quickly, understand how you operate the routers, and also ensure fast recovery during network downtime.

Cons

  • I think now that we are moving into cloud migrations and cloud services, I think now the new routers that are coming out are cloud-friendly so to speak, and also can provide us with a higher level of security because of the continuous threats that we are receiving from different type of actors around the world. So security is also critical for cloud migration.

Return on Investment

  • I can only talk about the positive impact and that positive impact made us make a new decision just six months ago to go ahead and purchase a brand new whole network from Cisco based on our previous experiences with this product, which gave us the confidence to go ahead. We are ready for a new network because we have expansions, we have more users, we have more mandates from the government, so we are expanding and we needed Cisco to be part of that journey with us.

Great to Use!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Packet routing service is being covered by routers using dynamic routing protocols, the creation of packet filtering. It allows you to create rules and limit access to unwanted/restricted pages. It has allowed us to manage [the] traffic of the network in the most optimal way. They are reliable and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Pros

  • Packet forwarding and routing
