Easy to use HR System

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use BrightHR to for storing employee information, document management, e-learning, managing holiday and other absences, tracking employees objectives and tracking employee hours (via Blip app).

Pros

  • Simple to use with both web portal and app.
  • Easy holiday management.
  • Includes Blip app for staff to record their hours.
  • Ability for staff to electronically accept documents.
  • Easy tracking of staff objectives/goals.
  • New features rolled out regularly.

Cons

  • You can’t add events to the leave calendar or mark periods of restricted leave which means line managers have to check a separate calendar before approving leave.
  • Any admins receive all holiday requests which clogs up their inboxes. Need more flexible role types so you can select who receives notifications.
  • System doesn’t stop employees requesting holiday when they have used up their allowance.
  • E-learning doesn’t record if an employee completes training assigned to them. The training certificate has to be manually uploaded and the line manager has to remove the training assignment so the employee stops receiving reminders.

Return on Investment

  • Has reduced manual administration
  • Eliminated leave disputes as everything is tracked

Calendar - When booking holidays users can only see their own departments bookings. We need to see holiday bookings across the company but if we give access to all users they can see all other company records that they cannot have access to. The Calendar aspect needs to be universal. Can this be done without giving access to all other records on individuals accounts?

Pros

  • HR records
  • Payroll
  • Training

Cons

  • Universal access to the calendar across the company
  • When uploading training certificates being able to upload straight from the course once completed to an individuals record rather than having to download the certificate and then upload to individuals record separately.
  • Definition of holiday 'with bank holidays included' and 'without bank holidays included' and being able to change this function if needed.

Return on Investment

  • Better HR communications

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

BrightHR is the system we use to record employee data. It keeps data for all staff in one central place and allows calendar sync to view staff absences. It acts as a functional way to store employee documents and personal employee information. The addition of e-learning is also a beneficial resource.

Pros

  • People Overview on home page shows a snapshot of the day's activities. Great for seeing who is on leave at a glance.
  • Easy to read employee hub section and ability to manage teams.
  • Booking leave absence is simple and straightforward in BrightHR.
  • Shows the annual leave balance in a clear visual way

Cons

  • Highlight the fact once you make a contract change, the ability to change leave entitlement from days to hours disappears. A pop-up message to state this would be helpful. I recently had a very helpful call with Farshad who helped me understand this limitation and how I could navigate the process to make the changes I was looking to implement.
  • Offer the option to change leave entitlement from hours to days which I believe is not currently possible

Return on Investment

  • Ease of access for employees to book leave. Previously this was done via email communications and recording on Google Sheets, so BrightHR frees up admin time spent on this.
