What is Blogger?

Blogger is a blog-publishing service that allows private or multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries. It was created by Pyra Labs, which was bought by Google in 2003. Generally, the blogs are hosted by Google at a subdomain of blogspot.com.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Blogger to provide SEO support for my online store and for some marketing support. Blogger is very good at creating easy, Google-legal external backlinks within the context of a legitimately informative article. I don't need to try and sneak external backlinks into various blog comments or do anything else that is unethical. Currently, I have over 80 posts focused on my online store. Each article is either about a unique product that my store provides or deals with an issue that is very specific to the products that I sell.

Pros

  • As I mentioned earlier, external backlinks.
  • Writing small, quick articles that don't require a lot of formatting or visual content.
  • Adding up to 200 characters worth of relevent hash tags.
  • Adding a relatively long, detailed title for your post.
  • Adding a relatively long, detailed description for your posts.

Cons

  • Formatting, especially for visual content is abysmal.
  • Don't even think about trying to write a long post in Blogger. There is no easy way to structure one.
  • Even though it's a Google product, you really have to poke around outside of Blogger to learn how to create an XML file that you can submit to Google Sitemaps.
  • Google does not give you an over-abundance of tools for creating a visually attractive blog.

Most Important Features

  • It's free and as long as you understand what it does best and its limits, free can be good.
  • Ease of using it as a tool that can help reinforce a Google-legal SEO strategy.
  • Once you understand how to use Blogger's very limited formatting capabilities it has value for creating quick, concise posts.

Return on Investment

  • Positive or negative impact is difficult to quantify because of how I use Blogger.
  • Outside of using it for SEO purposes, it has absolutely no value for me at all.
  • I would say it's safe to say that it has no direct impact on my business, positive or negative.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have been using Blogger for many years, and from my personal experience, I can say that Blogger is an open-source website that anyone can use, and we don't need to have a paid domain to start blogging. Blogger also provides us access to the source code; hence with the slight knowledge of coding, we can customize our own website as per our own style and features. Even it provides a customized layout option where we can change the layout by just dragging the sections across the layout page. Blogger also gave us an opportunity to earn by making our website public and linking it to Adsense, by which my blogs can reach the vast majority of people. With Blogger, I have created my own educational website where people can learn topics related to Mechanical Engineering and clear their doubts.

  • Free domain provider
  • Provide access to source code
  • Wide availability of theme
  • No need to be expert in coding
  • Simple integration with Adsense, and no limit in earning once our blog becomes popular

Cons

  • Lack of plugins in Blogger

Most Important Features

  • Blogger provides permission to access code
  • Availability of customized theme
  • Easy to manage and monetization of the blog

Return on Investment

  • Able to spread my blogs over the wide population for education
  • Gives free lifetime domain
  • Absent of plugins make my website look less advance and less user-friendly

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used Blogger to make my very first blog and used it to manage it & publish my articles.

Pros

  • It's very easy to start using
  • It's perfect if I want to write articles easily and share it
  • Easy to connect to AdSense and make money out of it
  • Can connect domain name easily
  • Can be customized easily if I know HTML and CSS only too

Cons

  • It would be easy if I were able to use plugins that are available in the CMS I'm using currently

Most Important Features

  • Easy to use
  • The theme can be customized according to need
  • With a few clicks you can make a new blog
  • And being a product of Google, it has high security and can't be hacked unless Google Account is hacked!
  • Can add multiple authors easily

  • Blogger helped me a lot in my starting days

Pros

  • Cost - Because Blogger is free we are able to utilize it to its fullest capacity all while paying nothing!
  • User friendly - As I previously stated, we are able to post and reach vast amounts of people in a short amount of time because the interface is so easy and user friendly!
  • This goes along with user-friendly, but it is amazing how you do not need any coding experience to have a professional looking page.

Cons

  • Giving the ability to customize pages would be extremely helpful because many people have the idea that all Blogger accounts look the same, which they do look similar.
  • Not intended for large corporations.

Return on Investment

  • Due to the free cost, there is not truly a ROI, but it has helped us recruit a couple new employees.

  • Blogger gives a structured ready to go platform to display your ideas and writings.
  • Blogger is easy to use for new users and those who aren't as tech-savvy.
  • Blogger has many pre-designed themes.
  • Blogger is free!
  • You can monetize on a free site, unlike their competitors

Cons

  • Blogger is not set up as well for all social media platforms.
  • The Google+ social media platform was a flop and because of that, it can be harder to gain traction on Blogger as it was created to pair with Google+.
  • Although the site is completely free the domain requires a purchase if you want to have it not say blogger in your URL.

Return on Investment

  • Blogger is free so there is no money invested, but the time invested has proven to also be positive.
  • Blogger has increased our reach for young adults and given us the opportunity to display more pictures and longer paragraphs that other social media sites. The interest we have accumulated since using blogger has been worth the time and effort we put into using it.
  • We have seen that our Blog posts have also attracted parent involvement as well as they are excited to see what ways they can help. It has given us another way to express a need in volunteers.
