What is Automox?

Automox is an endpoint management solution used to keep desktops, laptops, and servers updated and ready for users anywhere in the world. Using automation, IT can fix critical vulnerabilities and boost user productivity.

Automox give you the control and visibility you need.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We need a centralized patching and OS patching tool that can also enable us to enhance our vulnerability remediation capabilities. We also wanted a tool that was lightweight and not too intrusive on the user experience. We are a scale-up tech company that requires real-time patching and OS patching, while also having the flexibility to deploy worklets and scripts to support users.

Pros

  • Patching
  • Data is displayed for compliance and health checking.
  • Giving functionality to users through worklets.

Cons

  • So far, we are delighted with how it performs.
  • MacOS documentation for Intune.

Return on Investment

  • Reduced costs - now support is in-house.
  • More effective reporting and visibility of health status.

Automox makes patching easier.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Automox is used in our environment primarily as a patch management solution to mitigate security vulnerabilities and keep operating and third-party software up to date. Several maintenance worklets have been deployed to maintain system health. Several worklets targeting security settings and compliance checks have also been deployed. Automox has become the preferred system for quickly remedying vulnerabilities and ensuring endpoints are deployed according to a baseline configuration. If a system is missing required software, such as vulnerability management or endpoint detection and response agents, Automox can automatically remediate the system.

Pros

  • Patching the operating system.
  • Patching third party software.
  • Ensuring required software are installed and healthy.
  • Ensuring baseline security settings are enabled and in effect.
  • Running maintenance tasks on a schedule to clean up temp files or obsolete user profiles.

Cons

  • Server patching orchestration. There is no way to patch and reboot systems in order of importance, such as database servers before application servers.
  • Worklets for patching .net core and similar.
  • Worklets for removing unwanted Java installs or other unwanted software.
  • Integration with Tenable Vulnerability Management.
  • AI script development should be included at no additional cost; GPT or Gemini can be used instead for free and pasted into Automox. Why charge when others are free?
  • Official worklets are slow to be added or updated.

Return on Investment

  • We wanted to like the remote support software, but the experience was poor compared to a solution like BeyondTrust.
  • Development and deployment of worklets is fast for experienced coders.
  • Policy execution and reporting is fast and reliable.
  • The new analytics dashboard excels at reporting Mean Time to Remediation for executive reporting purposes.

Automox saves time and money

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Automox as our primary RMM tool. It handles all of our 3rd party patching on our endpoints and has just recently took the place of WSUS as our server OS patching tool of choice. Automox saves us so much time every day that it has paid for itself in IT hours within the first year of use.

Pros

  • Incredible Dashboards
  • Very fast policy updates
  • Quick to install endpoint
  • Lightweight endpoint
  • Great pre-canned policies available to use out of the box

Cons

  • Can be a bit to learn if you don't start with Automox university
  • Some of the new worklets can be problematic
  • More roadmapping

Return on Investment

  • We were able to get rid of WSUS
  • we No longer use SCCM for end point updates
  • no longer need to import CVEs from our siem and take action on them in intune

The last patching solution youll need

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We integrate Automox with Rapid7 for helpful and quick vulnerability scanning and reporting. We use Automox as our main patching solution. It helps us stay up to date on security and updates and allows us to fully tailor it to our needs in a simple to understand format.

Pros

  • Fantastic user interface. Dashboard is great to use and easy to understand.
  • Allows you to set up as many policies as needed so the customization aspect is top notch.
  • Being able to add tags for device groups makes policy creation such a breeze.
  • Saves our team so much time we used to spend on vulnerability patching

Cons

  • The graphs and other widgets on the dashboard need to allow for customization. Without this, these are almost useless in certain environments based on your needs and priorities.
  • I think the user activity reporting could be simplified without having to rely on referencing user numbers, etc.
  • More options could be added for automatic email reporting for specific jobs

Return on Investment

  • Reduced after hours for our System Admins.
  • Better visibility and transparency for management team to see the current standing of our security infrastructure
  • Immediate ability to deal with endpoints
  • Additional remote solution

Automox...A true game changer for remote patching and support

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Automox for patch remediation and remote support. Unlike most other platforms we can use Automox to patch all of our devices regardless of the OS. Our previous RMM platform was limited in this aspect and Automox not only filled this gap but did so at a lesser price point

Pros

  • Patching
  • Windows PS scripting
  • Monitoring of OS

Cons

  • Remote support of iOS could be better
  • Remote support of linux is lacking

Return on Investment

  • ROI is absolutely great. Fantastic pricing
  • Better handle on missing patches in the environment
  • Allows better remote patching across all platforms
