Automox is primarily utilized by organizations for comprehensive patch management, ensuring up-to-date software and operating systems to reduce vulnerability exposure and streamline IT operations. In TrustRadius reviews, it is also valued for vulnerability remediation and as an endpoint management solution, simplifying device oversight. A majority of reviewers report significant time savings for IT staff, allowing reallocation of resources from patching and administration tasks. The platform's automation and scripting capabilities, particularly through 'worklets,' are central to this efficiency, enabling uninterrupted employee work during maintenance.
Reviewers often commend the intuitive user interface and clear dashboard, contributing to ease of use. However, common feedback highlights limitations in dashboard and reporting customization, with some desiring more tailored widgets and automated email reports. There is also a request for a broader catalog of pre-built worklets and more detailed error reporting. Overall, the sentiment indicates Automox effectively boosts operational efficiency and improves security posture through automated patching and increased visibility.
Pros
Streamlined patch management leading to substantial time savings for IT staff
Flexible and easily deployable 'worklets' for various system tasks
Intuitive user interface with a clear, easy-to-navigate dashboard
Customizable policy enforcement for tailored configurations
Improved visibility into security infrastructure and system health
Cons
Limited customization options for dashboards and reporting widgets
Insufficient catalog of pre-built worklets, especially for executable patches
Occasional slow initial connection times for remote system management
Desire for more detailed error reporting
Intermittent reliability issues with the notification application
We have a pretty sizeable number of mobile clients and trying to get those devices in house on a regular basis was problematic. Automox enabled us to be able to automate a lot of software patching and maintenance that reduced exposure windows and enabled employees to continue to work without the inconvenience of having to bring their devices to the office for patching and updating.
Pros
Update third-party applications
Update operating system
Allow for policy enforcement/application.
Cons
Apply updates without enduser acknowledgement for certain conditions
Likelihood to Recommend
The product is well positioned to assist IT teams with device maintenance in environments where mobility is predominant. It is especially helpful for disparate systems. It does have some overlap with Intune and that could compete for prioritization of policies and updates.
I'm Sysadmin and I use Automox to be sure that computers are always up to date and we use some policies in order to have secured laptops. We also are able to check installed software. We need some specific configuration for some laptops and we can easily deploy the config online.
Pros
Inventory Control
Up To Date software
Worklet deployment
Cons
It could be nice if Automox was able to deploy OS
Likelihood to Recommend
We are able to see if our laptops are up and running. We can check the software installed on our computers and be sure that there are not allowed software. We can apply some policies to laptops of our inventory and manage through groups. In our opinion is a great tool. That's the reason why we use Automox.

We use Automox for automated patch management of our servers and our workstations. We have also started using it to push software.
Pros
Software Distribution
Patch Management
Software Reporting
Cons
Constant Reboots or the scanning is inaccurate
I want to be able to assign a device to multiple groups
Likelihood to Recommend
It is perfectly suited for organizations with a small IT staff and large amount of devices. It's also perfect for pushing software to machines that are not on the network or VPN. It's less effective for server patch management. I like to have a little more control of my server patching.

We had issues with WSUS and getting our systems patched. Often times WSUS would be fully released and a system would say it is up to date but not take feature releases. Reporting from WSUS was also horrific. We had zero third-party update management after the initial MDT install. It would be up to the user to update third-party applications like Adobe, Java, and web browsers. If we had issues with web client applications, we'd have to verify the version of their browser first since they could all be at different versions.
Pros
Great support from the Automox team
Excellent knowledge base and how to programs
Easy to view systems and updates needed
Able to create multiple groups or tags for filtering and separate policies
Constantly releasing new updates and features
Cons
The current agent doesn't recognize if a user manually reboots so the panel constantly says the system needs a restart. They are fixing this in a new version
Search feature on their worklets. There are work arounds but there is a lot of information to manually look through
Hard to drill down devices using specific tags or groups. Seems to be a 'and' filter, could add an 'only' option
The reporting system could use some improvements. Unable to export of view the reports other than the console.

Definitely helps with getting patching up to date. Able to see what connected devices have a specific software version installed. They support a wide range of third-party applications as well as Windows, Mac, and Linux OS and are constantly improving their software or process as users request enhancements. They communicate well about vulnerabilities and hold extra monthly webinars with how-to or feature enhancements.
