Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our company relies on Automox for application and operating system patching, which ensures that our machines remain compliant and secure. We also take advantage of its reporting and scripting features, enabling us to execute specific tasks on endpoints as necessary. Personally, my team utilizes the remote access feature, which is very helpful for troubleshooting and providing remote assistance.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Automox for automated patch management by ensuring endpoint security across our organization. Also we use to addresses vulnerabilities by streamlining OS and software updates, reducing manual process and security risks. We have use Automox to manage Windows and Linux devices, enforcing compliance, and maintaining system integrity with minimal downtime through centralized and cloud-based automation.

Cons

Automox does not have built-in patch roll back feature. If Automox can provide built-in patch roll back feature, it will great help.
Role-base access control should be improved more granular access controls, such as restricting specific actions by user role, would improve security and delegation
Automox does not support for offline patching. This could be a limitation for air-gapped or highly restricted environment

Likelihood to Recommend

We have a multi-OS enviroment. Automox supports Windows, Mac OS and Linux from a single dashboard. Therefor we can manage patching uniformly across all systems. Also Automox cloud architecture allows us to patch and manage any endpoint regardless of the location. Automox is less appropriate tool in patch rollback process. Beacuse Automox does not have in-built patch rollback feature.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Vulnerability management, patching all the vulnerabilities in a timely manner. Help the process to be automated to minimize the the down time of patches required and including all 3rd party software as well making the process seamless and automated. Managing users for keeping their devices up to date is highly important to us

It's well suited for scenarios to provide visibility of all the devices being managed to directly or automatically deliver the security patches required. Being able to restart devices remotely and as connecting to the device for support. It is great for being to patch including the 3rd party software and detect it all of what is being used by the user

Automox patches automatically on windows, mcOS, linux. From that the workload of the IT team has reduced. No need to configure VPNs to remote sites because of the cloud solution. There is underdeveloped the rollback feature.

In my experience, it is well suited for environments with different types of devices like Windows, Linux, and Mac. One of our customers requested a product that can manage these different types of devices from one single dashboard. While monitoring these devices through singles dashboard, It has the ability to push patches and updates to all devices seamlessly.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it mainly to patch windows devices. We do both first and third party patching. We also use to it remote in to client machines when they are having problems. Finally, we use Automox to collect data about each device such as administrators, applications and last logged on date. It is nice that Automox makes it easy to install new apps on devices.

It is well suited for patching. If you can get the patch prepared, Automox can deliver results instantly if the computer is online. I would say that the remote access tool is not their best feature. It normally takes 5 actual mins to load and you have bad video quality sometimes which I don’t like

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Automox to patch all of our Windows, macOS and Linux devices. It works hand in hand with our MDR product to remediate vulnerabilities with just a click. We have full peace of mind that Automox is continually scanning our devices and keeping everything up to date in the background!

Easy to exclude patches which have a business requirement for delaying.
Rich reporting allows us to see the current state of our assets.

Cons

Improvements to how macOS updates are handled.

If your business is running different OS's, Automox really takes the headache out of keeping everything up to date. Everything is controlled in one central location, and you can easily see if any patching needs manual intervention.

We use Automox for patch remediation and remote support. Unlike most other platforms we can use Automox to patch all of our devices regardless of the OS. Our previous RMM platform was limited in this aspect and Automox not only filled this gap but did so at a lesser price point

This platform is ideal for any enterprise that is WFH or mostly WFH. I use it for our workstations and our VM environment to patch various things. I use it to patch the OS, applications, web browsers, and update security definitions. These are all scheduled for automation and it works amazingly.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Automox is used to patch both operating system and third-party application from a single unified platform. Most other solutions available on the market don't have the same operating system and third-party application coverage as Automox. The 100% cloud based console also makes it simple to deploy and manage without the need for any on-prem infrastructure to support the patching solution.

Dynamic asset grouping
Would like the ability to nest groups and patching policies (eg. parent group covers operating system policies for all child groups, then individual child groups per business unit with their own configurations). This would allow for some devices to have more strict policies than others for third-party applications, while maintaining a consistent configuration for other components such as OS patching.

Likelihood to Recommend

Because of it's cloud based approach, Automox works very well in a distributed environment with both on-site and remote users. The lack of on-prem infrastructure ensures that patches and policies make it to end devices wherever they reside. Automox may not be a great fit in environments with highly controlled or air-gapped networks where the Automox agent is not able to call home (ie. on endpoints with NO outbound internet access).

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Automox is a great tool for end point deployment and patching, we have been using Automox over the years and it help was with Security configuration and to tun various custom scripts. Over the years the support via build in chat which is also live make to reach the Customer Service representative easily. Specially considering the dashboard with detailed graphical chats lets us understand the current system status.

Scheduled downtime marks for the prod support users to have more control over the system

Cons

Reporting functionality need lot of scope for improvement
System comes downs multiple times which cause end users to suffer a lot
Remote access was working great at earlier versions nut not the scope has been reduced by a lot and multiple users cannot access at a time

Automox dashboard is great and has a great potential to improvise, specially the graphs and easy to understand process and not to forget the major functionality of deployment and patching at end points. The easy to use interface helps to set up. vulnerabilities are reduced by a great scale after using Automox. When compared to other tools they are priced on a higher scale.
