Automox is primarily utilized by organizations for comprehensive patch management, ensuring up-to-date software and operating systems to reduce vulnerability exposure and streamline IT operations. In TrustRadius reviews, it is also valued for vulnerability remediation and as an endpoint management solution, simplifying device oversight. A majority of reviewers report significant time savings for IT staff, allowing reallocation of resources from patching and administration tasks. The platform's automation and scripting capabilities, particularly through 'worklets,' are central to this efficiency, enabling uninterrupted employee work during maintenance.
Reviewers often commend the intuitive user interface and clear dashboard, contributing to ease of use. However, common feedback highlights limitations in dashboard and reporting customization, with some desiring more tailored widgets and automated email reports. There is also a request for a broader catalog of pre-built worklets and more detailed error reporting. Overall, the sentiment indicates Automox effectively boosts operational efficiency and improves security posture through automated patching and increased visibility.
Pros
Streamlined patch management leading to substantial time savings for IT staff
Flexible and easily deployable 'worklets' for various system tasks
Intuitive user interface with a clear, easy-to-navigate dashboard
Customizable policy enforcement for tailored configurations
Improved visibility into security infrastructure and system health
Cons
Limited customization options for dashboards and reporting widgets
Insufficient catalog of pre-built worklets, especially for executable patches
Occasional slow initial connection times for remote system management
Desire for more detailed error reporting
Intermittent reliability issues with the notification application
We use Automox to automate the process of patching and remediating vulnerabilities for our Windows and macOS devices and third-party software, automatically enforce device configurations to be in compliance, track inventory across corporate devices, report on the vulnerability status of corporate devices, and troubleshoot Windows and macOS devices and the remote-control module.
Pros
Automating patch schedules for OS and 3rd party software.
Reporting.
Customizable worklets.
Cons
Remote control.
Some 3rd party software patching.
Some aspects of reporting.

Automox makes it very easy to keep every endpoint automatically configured, patched, and secured, no matter where it is located, on a somewhat set-it-and-forget-it schedule. We have had great success keeping our software updated, and it has been a very helpful tool for passing security assessments, such as SOC II and others.
Automox solves one of the most crucial issues we ran into during our day-to-day maintenance of our endpoints. It is very important that our endpoints stay up to date with the latest version of Software patches and Windows Updates. Automox provides a centralized management point for being able to push out Software and Windows updates automatically and manually. It also provides an easy to use Activity Report and Policy Results Report that lets you view the overall health of your organization and which endpoints may be missing a patch or multiple. Automox makes it very easy to keep our endpoints up to date with Windows updates automatically and also push any manual updates we want.
Pros
Automatically keeps endpoints up to date using configured patch policies.
Easy to use interface that allows quick and easy policy creation and editing.
Has an extensive Script and Worklet catalog that you can choose from to do a large variety of tasks.
Automox has very helpful customer support with quick responses.
Cons
I would like to see more detailed error messages when a patch fails. Perhaps at which step it failed at, downloading, installing, etc.
It would be helpful if we could see what stage of installing or downloading a patch is at through a percentage or status bar instead of a vague "Installing..." message
It would also be helpful to have a way to kill or end scripts that are stuck instead of waiting 24 hours for them to automatically end. Something like an "End all actions" button for endpoints on our side would be extremely helpful when testing a script that had a bad line or action in it.

Automox is incredible in Medium sized businesses and organizations. It makes pushing updates and keeping endpoints up to date very easy and responsive. Automox also does a great job at keeping laptops up to date. Laptops can sometimes be a pain to manage depending on how often users turn them on and keep them on. From my experience, Automox quickly reaches out to a laptop within a minute of it being powered on and immediately starts installing updates to it. You can customize the installation and restarting messages so that the computers do not reboot in the middle of a user's work.

We use Automox to provide automatic security updates/patches to approximately 250 computers (mixed Windows and Mac).
Pros
Clean, easy interface
Custom policies by groups
Dashboard provides quick summary
Powerful scripting
Cons
macOS support for OS patches is unreliable
More categories to include/exclude categories of patches would be useful
Awkward to use in a lab environment with multiple users on machines

We use Automox to provide OS and third party software updates on Windows & Mac machines. We have found Automox to work far better on Windows based machines than on Macs for OS updates to the point where we have disabled the OS updates on Mac because it causes more issues than it solves. Third party software patching works well on both for supported software.

Needed a solution to deploy patches for Windows and 3rd party apps to about 600 managed Windows devices easily.
Pros
Ease of Deployment
Ease of Automation
Ease of Management
Cons
Add more 3rd party app support

Automox works really well if you are coming from a manual patch environment and needing to ensure devices are automatically patched, even if you decide to do it on a nightly basis.

We leverage the 3rd Party Patching tool to manage the fleet and a variety of OS and application profiles. Our use case is very mobile and research-heavy users that bring technology and devices to our technology spaces. We needed a single pane of glass solution that could manage multiple patch profiles for the OS and commonly used software. We have nearly every major OS on our network and need a single tool to manage these assets.
Pros
Inventory
Patch Management
User Community involvement
Ability to create multiple profiles.
Cons
Via Software allow users to select and patch 'all' unknown severity items
Notification of Zero Day Alerts

Well Suited - Multiple OS environments such as schools and universities as well as work-from-home cases. Not Well Suited - single OS environment with entire 'in-office'.

This is such an empowering product. I am able to patch local servers and endpoints. Their staff is so professional and supportive.
Pros
Staffing
Partering with other cyber security companies.
Automox community has great resources.
Cons
I would like the worklet catalog to continue to grow.
Video tutorials of robust features

Automox is perfect for schools. Their IT professionals are always short staffed. This allows them to harden the environment and keep their schools safe.
We use this in place of an onsite WSUS service. It has truly addressed our need to get our devices fully patched and up to day. Prior to the use of this, we had an onsite WSUS and it was absolutly awful to manage and keep onine. One of the biggest hurdles to overcome was the capturing of devices after they left our network, and with the Automox agent installed, these devices have been able to be updated as long as they are connected to the internet with no crazy VPN settings.
Pros
Patching of devices on and off our network
Capturing real time inventory of devices wherever they are
Alerting us to vulnerabilities on devices in real time.
Cons
The login portion is a little clunky.
Some of the menus can be confusing if you don't know what you are looking for.
SSO integration could use some work.

Automox is very well suited for any environment. For us, we deploy laptops to all of our staff, and the update window, to not impact the work day, is set to Friday at 3pm. While this time frame is good to capture a large chunk of our users there are still quite a few that take them home. With Automox we are able to capture the ones that leave and go home, to be used over the weekend for whatever. Extremely helpful!

In Education, we use Automox to patch and update all of our devices and servers. We were up and running in one day, and in the couple of months we've used it, we feel so much more secure with our devices. Previous to Automox, it was hit and miss with what we did to update devices - and this product really gives us an overall look at what machines are updated or need to be. With education being the bigger target lately in cybercrime, we love knowing that we could push out an update to all of our devices immediately, if it became necessary -- or know that we already had done it because Automox.
Pros
Dashboard to view what has been done/needs to be done.
Easy set up - Up & running in one day
Keeps our devices updated easily
Cons
I don't know of any improvements needed yet.
