In TrustRadius reviews, ActiveCampaign is primarily utilized for managing and executing email marketing initiatives, with organizations leveraging it for tasks such as weekly newsletters, drip campaigns, and promoting listings. Its robust automation capabilities are a core strength, extending beyond email to various sales, marketing, and customer retention processes. The platform also facilitates highly targeted communication through advanced segmentation and tagging, often integrating CRM functionalities to streamline operations.

We are a growing SaaS business and email markeitng & sales automation is a big part of our digital strategy. We moved to ActiveCampaign from MailChimp, and really there is no comparison. Whilst Mailchimp was an okay 'list management' platform, Active Campaign is a full blown marketing automation / customer experience system with integrated CRM. The amount of functionality that you get for not a huge amount more than Mailchimp is staggering. You can automate most of your key businesses processes related to sales, marketing and customer retention, (not just email based automations). It's unbelievably powerful when you dive in deep, and honestly in my opinion the pick of the marketing automation platforms (We did a fair amount of research into them all before settling on AC). One key feature for us was the ability to run A/B testing on automation emails (surprisingly few of their competitors offer this). Also their customer support is absolutely stellar - especially the on-boarding team.
Pros
very feature rich
good customer support
works as described
Cons
interface feels a little bit dated - doesn't feel like a single page application, pages still have to load etc.

Enterprise grade marketing automation at entry level prices.
I use ActiveCampaign for sending my twice weekly newsletter and for creating automations for when people sign up for free downloads on my website. I also use ActiveCampaign automations for delivering my paid offers.
Pros
Email delivery is super fast!
I like how the automations are easy to customize and set up.
Email Templates are easy to set up.
Contacts are easy to navigate.
Cons
I would like to be able to hide the unsubscribes on the dashboard.
I would like forms to be more customizable.

I think ActiveCampaign is great for businesses with lists of 1000 or more.
I use ActiveCampaign for all email marketing including automatic welcome sequences, ongoing evergreen sequences, launch emails and staying in touch with my customers and community on a regular basis in the form of newsletters. I also have automations scheduled for self paced programmes that invite my customers to leave feedback and for my membership to check in with how my customers are doing.
Pros
I love how easy it is to connect ActiveCampaign with my cart software (ThriveCart). It makes setting up new sales/checkout pages super easy and allows me to connect with new customers immediately. ActiveCampaign also connects seamlessly to HelloAudio.
The automations are easy to set up which means my email marketing system can run on autopilot without me having to spend more than an hour a week (at absolute most) ensuring my customers and community feel connected.
I find the templates for the emails easy to use which makes actually creating the email a doddle. The fact you can reuse past campaign layouts means I don't need to spend a lot of time designing each email and can keep the brand consistent.
The reporting tools provided by ActiveCampaign are easy to understand and means I can quickly look to see what's performing well and what isn't performing so well.
Cons
I'm currently at around 665 subscribers right now so I'm comfortable with the pricing for now - my concern for the future is the cost when my list grows significantly.
I feel like there's probably a lot more ways I could utilise my account as I simply rely on it for email marketing however I haven't explored much else. Perhaps regular emails showcasing the platforms alternative functionalities or masterclasses that could be attended would be helpful. (there's a possibility this is happening and I'm just not aware of it....)

I've been using ActiveCampaign since around 2018-2019 and I've always been satisfied with the software. It's simple to use, connects with the other tools I use and makes it easy for me to duplicate automations, email templates and workflows as I need to. On top of that, any time I've had an issue (which I think is around twice in the past 5/6 years), the customer service has always been super helpful and my issue has been resolved quickly.
I use it basically for newsletter delivery, manage my emails contact list and automate emails when people subscribe.
It helps me create segment of contacts since I use different content for each one. I love the campaigns templates since it is so easy to create my newsletters and replicate campaigns
Additionally, It has an excellent customer service. Whenever I needed help, they have my back almost instantly
Pros
Campaign design to create content. Templates are great and useful
Easy of use. As a non technical user (I own my business) it is intuitive. Besides it provides some guides that are also useful
Great customer service, almost immediate and you talk to a real person
Cons
Sometimes I get lost in the use of list. It is not that clear the best way to use it
It would be wonderful to have more details on campaign reports, especially with users with apple accounts
To enhance the iPhone app.

It is easy to use, easy to configure and you have tons of support. It is stable and I have had no trouble since the beginning
The price is good for what you get. It is more valuable than a couple of options I have tried before, especially regarding customer supper
I have been using ActiveCampaign for several years as my primary lead and client communication tool (other than Outlook). It has scaled with my business and is great for integrating with other client fulfillment tools I use. One of my deliverables needs to be segmented dozens of ways for top-end client fulfillment and this is easily achievable with ActiveCampaign.
Pros
Goals within automations simplifies the funnel
As a solopreneur who is not technically inclined, I love their direct support
I've been able to take full advantage of their ongoing learning webinars
Cons
As someone who can be easily put off by tech problems, ActiveCampaign can appear more daunting than it really is.
Their last interface changed my UX and I found that confusing. If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

I have always recommended ActiveCampaign, to peers and my clients. I'm particularly pleased with the visual UX for building the automation.
I use a single ActiveCampaign account to email to segmented groups across several interrelated websites by using tags and other segmenting options. We email to deliver product access links to clients, and stay in touch regularly with clients, customers, and followers.
Pros
Because of excellent tagging and segmenting options I can use a single account for mailing subscribers who signed up from my 2 websites
It makes it easy to see what list, tags, and automations each subscriber has
There are a many options to choose from when building out automations
Cons
My number one complaint is the way an account can be frozen if you unexpectedly reach your subscriber limit. There should be at least a feature that alerts you when a limit has been reached with an timeframe allowed to scrub your list or upgrade without losing service access.
Some options are difficult to find on the site
The newest pricing structure is difficult to understand
Likelihood to Recommend
If you are growing a solopreneur or small business but want many features like tagging, segmenting, and automations I highly recommend ActiveCampaign. ActiveCampaign also makes it easy to use a single account to manage subscribers from more than one website.
I use ActiveCampaign for my sales funnel and newsletters. It's easy to link to my website forms and I love the way you can immediately see who subscribed and clicked on links. My virtual team set up automation and newsletters. It's easy to create drafts, schedule emails, and make automation look easy.
Pros
Visual representation of automation
Stats on the Home dashboard
Cons
Pricing: much higher than alternatives
Segmentation
Likelihood to Recommend
If you want flexibility in automation, you have many options.

I use ActiveCampaign to send marketing campaigns and communications to my clients. Also for the search for new clients through databases that I store in this tool. It helps me create flows based on the moment and temperature of the lead. I also use it to embed their forms on my landing pages to start new flows, tag potential customers, or anything else I can think of.
Pros
Condition-Based Flows
E-mail marketing
Contact classification and labeling
Cons
The campaign and flow reports are somewhat simple
Some options in the email marketing campaign editor
A little more customization when creating forms

We use ActiveCampaign as part of a survey process. Potential respondents are entered into ActiveCampaign and all communication is handled through it. Our survey software communicates via API to ActiveCampaign which allows us to track / trend respondents. It automatically removes those who opt-out, those who are disqualified, and those who complete the study. We also use ActiveCampaign to manage respondents who which to participate in additional research. We use the API to move respondents from list-to-list s necessary.
Pros
Communication management
Contact organization
Email / SMS /MMS campaigns
Opt-out response tracking
Cons
Understanding how billing works for contacts not in a list or part of a campaign
Easier to manage SMS
Likelihood to Recommend
ActiveCampaign is well suited for defined campaigns where there is a set start/end date and we just need to run the outreach. It is less well suited for longitudinal campaigns where we are trying to track people over longer periods of time.
