I use ActiveCampaign for automations, weekly campaigns, forms and landing pages. I love some of the new features such as the AI generated campaign templates and the calendar view for campaigns. It’s definitely a platform you can grow with.

Cons

  • Pricing

Likelihood to Recommend

Good Job ActiveCampaign

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use ActiveCampaign for email drip campaigns primarily. The reason this is important for me is my pipeline can be as long as four plus years. It is important that I remind my list that I am available to help their child when they are somewhere within the 16-26 year mark. That could mean multiple kids within a family will need me when they need me, and it can be anytime within that 10-year span.

Pros

  • Storing emails to reuse so you don't have to recreate each email with links
  • Storing pictures so they are always close at hand as needed
  • Answering my questions quickly when I'm creating a complex email drip

Cons

  • Integrating with Squarespace
  • Giving me ideas on other ways I can use AC in my business.
  • Building emails can take a long time as the program churns to save and retrieve data

Likelihood to Recommend

ActiveCampaign is dependable and has a ton of functionality. It is great for a company that needs a sales funnel and other more complex processes. I like that there is an option to add on subscribers as you need them. It may not be great for people who do not need all the functions.

Active Campaign - good software but becoming overpriced for smaller users

Rating: 6 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Have used activecampaign for various projects over the last several years and have watched it evolve over the years. Have used it to support call centers as well as other types of sales funnels. There are some places where it is limited (especially the lack of integrations without zapier), but where it really succeeds is in its all-in-one and automation capabilities. It is a sales and marketing stack in a single package.

Pros

  • full marketing stack in one software
  • emails and email automation
  • overall funnel automation

Cons

  • pricing may be prohibitive for small businesses to use full capability of software, and can get incredibly expensive quickly if you generate a lot of leads.
  • support has fallen off over the past 3 years. if im spending over $500/month, i should be able to call and talk to someone whenever i want.
  • if you decide to leave or move to another system, youll have trouble getting a detailed version of your data

Likelihood to Recommend

Best for small businesses that wont be growing very quickly but need to take advantage of a robust marketing automation software that is easy to use out of the box. Not good for businesses that will generate a lot of leads, as the price may become prohibitive quickly. Also, if your business is a phone-based business and not an email-based business, you may have some problem getting the software to work the way you'd like.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use it for email marketing to my audience. It has worked well for sending customers targeted email sequences, based on their interest. The features and ease of use has been invaluable for growing and engaging my customers and followers. It's been excellent for sending relevant emails that are highly targeted via tags and segmentation.

Pros

  • Visual Automation Builder
  • Forms
  • Advanced Segmentation
  • Tags

Cons

  • Funnel builder
  • Landing pages

Likelihood to Recommend

You can build an automated series that delivers content each day.

You can Use tagging to track engagement (e.g., “Clicked email 3,” or “Did Not Open Day 4”).

You can set up a follow-up sequence for engaged users: “Loved this? Join the full Mastery Pathway.”

For less engaged users, trigger a re-engagement email.

ActiveCampaign is the way to go

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ActiveCampaign solves an email automation problem. We must send customers emails at a specific date during their subscription cycle. These automations were easy to set up, timely, and kept customers engaged and aware.

For instance, when a subscription is coming up for renewal we send a specific email at specific intervals. ActiveCampaign helps us accomplish this. Also, welcome emails are sent to new subscribers. Another instance occurs when a payment is declined. An ActiveCampaign automation sends the customer an email when payment is incomplete.

These three automations have helped us retain customers.

Pros

  • Automations
  • One-off Campaigns
  • Integrations
  • Custom Fields
  • Sales Funnels

Cons

  • Lack of phone support
  • Inability to disable notifications
  • Failed upload without notification
  • Failed send without notification

Likelihood to Recommend

Ease of use. You can set up a few automation within minutes.

Predictive sending. Send emails to your customers when they will read it. ActiveCampaign does this automatically when selected.

Tag on import. Add tags to customers as they are added to the system. This can make automated flows easier to manage.

Bounce/Unsubscribe reports. This keeps your list and your sender rep in good condition. The integration with NeverBounce will help here too.

Pricy but worthy

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Pricy but trustworthy! It sends reliable, is always on time and offers a lot of options. The support is always fast and very helpful too. I use ActiveCampaign for more than 5 years now and that won't change. The interface took some updates over the years and got user friendlier.

Pros

  • fast support
  • sends on time
  • many options

Cons

  • interface not UX friendly

I use it for email automations and campaigns. It always sends emails on time. When I had a problem, the support answered fast and the answer was helpful so I got the problem fixed.

Enterprise grade features for entry level price

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a growing SaaS business and email markeitng & sales automation is a big part of our digital strategy. We moved to ActiveCampaign from MailChimp, and really there is no comparison. Whilst Mailchimp was an okay 'list management' platform, Active Campaign is a full blown marketing automation / customer experience system with integrated CRM. The amount of functionality that you get for not a huge amount more than Mailchimp is staggering. You can automate most of your key businesses processes related to sales, marketing and customer retention, (not just email based automations). It's unbelievably powerful when you dive in deep, and honestly in my opinion the pick of the marketing automation platforms (We did a fair amount of research into them all before settling on AC). One key feature for us was the ability to run A/B testing on automation emails (surprisingly few of their competitors offer this). Also their customer support is absolutely stellar - especially the on-boarding team.

Pros

  • very feature rich
  • good customer support
  • works as described

Cons

  • interface feels a little bit dated - doesn't feel like a single page application, pages still have to load etc.

Likelihood to Recommend

Enterprise grade marketing automation at entry level prices.

Powerful System But Not Made For Beginners

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ActiveCampaign for our commercial real estate company. We mostly send single campaigns to promote our property listings. ActiveCampaign's powerful segmenting makes it easy to email only the contacts that are a good profile match for the property. It also is easy to run email marketing for all 9 of our offices under one master account so no contacts overlap or fall through the cracks of unsubscribing from one office & still getting emails from all the others.

Pros

  • Segmenting
  • Advanced Searches
  • Site Tracking on Contact Profiles

Cons

  • The designer could be better & a lot more customizable without having to use HTML blocks
  • Running reports can sometimes be frustrating without advanced filter options within the reports
  • There is currently no easy way for contacts to self-select their email preferences, and I really wish that could be addressed
  • While there's usually a way to build the segment or automation you want, it can involve lots of work-arounds for things I'd expect to be much simpler

Likelihood to Recommend

ActiveCampaign is probably best suited to people who want to run frequent automations or take advantage of their CRM. Their landing pages also work decently well, though design options on both the landing pages and the email campaigns leave a lot to be desired. The designer is good for people who want an easy drag-and-drop system, but this is NOT a beginner-friendly platform. It takes a lot of training to get used to its intricacies. It's best for people with an email marketing specialty, not your average marketer or business owner who just wants to send things out quick emails.

The automations are powerful, and they are making consistent improvements to the platform, sometimes based off of user feedback in their forums.
