What is Accurate Background?

Accurate Background is a provider of compliant, automated workforce screening solutions. The vendor states that over 16,000 global organizations trust them to mitigate risk, reduce cost, and deliver a positive candidate screening experience.

The vendor further states that their full suite of compliant screening services lets users verify candidate backgrounds without sacrificing individualized attention or cutting corners. The technology is designed to reduce time to completion, and its screening solutions are built to work with every major ATS platform.

The technology runs on a user's technology of choice – connect web or mobile apps to the screening services and automate the background check ordering process. Candidates can submit their background check forms directly from their laptop or mobile device.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Accurate to run a MVR and country-wide background check for all of our incoming employees. We are required to run background checks through our state's Department of Public Safety, but we still run an Accurate check because we have found many instances where Accurate's results revealed things the state's report did not. We have been using Accurate for over 7 years and have had zero issues.

Pros

  • The user experience when submitting the background check is easy, straight-forward and well thought out
  • The results are always reliably fast. If there is a hold up (for small towns the clerk usually has to submit information manually) they provide us a reason for the extended wait time which is appreciated
  • The pricing is very reasonable

Cons

  • Would be nice if we could change the subject of the email sent to applicants. We do not drug test as a condition of employment, but the email says "Background/Drug Test Authorization"

  • The reports from Accurate are frequently more thorough than the other checks we run
  • Results are returned quickly
  • User experience is simple and hassle free

  • We have full confidence in the caregiver(s) we send to our clients' homes
  • The pricing structure makes it possible for our small business to use this as a supplemental service to double-check state issued reports that are not as reliable
  • User experience is great - Our incoming employees are never frustrated or confused when completing the authorization as part of their onboarding

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Running pre-hire background checks with federal, national, state, county-specific and education verification. We have a team of five and each person is responsible for running their candidate's background checks on their own. We do not require employment verification.

Pros

  • Customer service
  • Accuracy

Cons

  • Education Verifications- they reach out to National Clearinghouse but in my experience if don’t get a response they just close the case. We’ve had instances where the degree is only verified after we push them to continue to follow up. We are also charged pass through fees that range from $7-21 on top of the base price for the education verifications. I think, this is standard but seems pricey.
  • Cost - we are moving on from Accurate as we have found a significantly more cost effective option
  • Cost Transparency - to understand what a single background check costs, we have to reach out to the support team. I wish on the order it would break down the cost of each.
  • Sending emails from accurate - in the last year, I had an issue suddenly pop-up. I use to be able to click a button "send email" where the background check would populate in my outlook. Suddenly, that stopped working...I made no changes on my computer or with security/network/etc.. I reached out to accurate and they were adamant that it was something on my side and provided no help. I now have to send background checks to myself on my phone b/c the email won't populate. It is very frustrating!

Not the best experience

Pros

  • Ability to undertake background screening worldwide

Cons

  • The screening process on the US side took 4+ months to be implemented even though there was no specific request or difficulty on our side: we have a very basic need that Accurate Background is supposed to be implementing easily.
  • Twice in the past Accurate Background's reports have shown blank records ... for people with a criminal history.
  • I receive on a regular basis from Accurate services emails asking for more information. But sometimes this email is not for me but for the candidate. And you never know what complementary information is required. You just receive an email stating "we need more information". You have to chase them to know what they need.
  • I have recently received a message stating that a search is complete. When you open the record, you realize the search has been abandoned. There is a sentence at the end of it stating that you have received an email from their services.... when you have received nothing.
  • All the above shows that there is minimum interaction with real people from their services, that their automatic messages are not complete nor accurate, and that their search results just cannot be trusted.

  • Using Accurate has been an unnecessary painful experience so far.

Accurate for the win!

Pros

  • AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE OPTIONS! You can call, email, and/or chat.
  • The dashboard is very straightforward and allows for easy organization.
  • The report is super easy to read but even if you are unfamiliar there's a tour button that walks you through each section of the report to help you understand the layout.

Cons

  • There is no direct way to reach the verifications team and having customer service as a middleman sometimes adds a delay.

Return on Investment

  • Our turn around time has decreased by half as far as complete background checks are concerned. This allows us to keep our candidates and improve their experience.
  • We averaged a savings of over $2,000/year thanks to Accurate's ability to create customized packages.
