Branch is the gold standard linking platform - other services like AppsFlyer or bit.ly aren't able to deliver the consistency Branch does. It is a developer platform as well, so your engineering team will be able to sink its teeth into many different use cases without worrying about how to "hack" it. I believe Branch can continue to become a simpler tool going forward, but the fact that it has a free tier and seeks to fit into YOUR tech stack makes it the easy choice

Zipwhip is well suited for brief communication at scale. Our Fan services reps after close to 1,000 accounts, and this allows them to get out quick messages at scale. It is less appropriate for longer messages where email or a phone call is the better route to reach out.

Pros
  • Branch Link's Desktop SMS is a very good feature, we use it on our landing page such as: https://acetutor.io/smsBoarding
  • Branch Link's cross platform support for redirect is another powerful feature. We use it on our main website to redirect users to the correct App Store or Google Play to download our app: https://www.acetutor.io

  • Scheduled texts - when scheduling an appointment, we schedule a text to be sent prior to this appointment
  • Automations - we can set up auto texts and responses

Cons
  • To my understanding Branch uses a last touch attribution method. Being able to change this setting or view the data between different attribution models would be extremely useful (first click, linear, time decay, etc).
  • Not like it's a con, but it would be great for Branch to keep running totals on attrition rate and daily active users. Also maybe look into more integrations with data export partners - Appsee, Smartlook, etc.

  • I would like the quick-use app that pulls from the taskbar to be able to hold more characters- It can only do 250 while the main screen can do 600.
  • The ability to send video through this program would significantly enhance its functionality for us.

Usability
It's very usable. Multiple teams in the company are using it, and it never takes more than 5 mins to explain to someone how to use this.

It was very easy for users to use, straight forward, and user friendly. The desktop app is very basic but easy to reply to an incoming text, but the user had to know to allow Chrome notifications to see new incoming text via the web browser, which is how they mainly used it.

Support Rating
We have never had any issue with support response yet. In fact, they have a local POC in our city too, who routes the urgent matters to their escalation matrix.

Swift response time, multiple people have been willing to help with any issue, really anything you could be looking for from a service standpoint, they offer.

Alternatives Considered
We used to use AppsFlyer but unfortunately, we found errors in their mobile app attribution reporting. Firebase on the other hand, is a basic tool that has a lot of features, but the features are not extremely robust - especially the attribution or funnel reporting. As a result we decided to give Branch and have been extremely pleased since.

We hadn't really looked at other services before choosing Zipwhip as there were not a lot of test-to-landline companies when we began looking. The price was right and the customer service was amazing. It was easy to learn the software and to onboard our entire team. When we began letting our customers know about the new texting capability we had, they were curious about it and grew to love it. Because we're able to link it with their trip, they not only can receive status updates but also a link to our GPS, so they can see where their chauffeur and vehicle are in real-time, along with a photo of the chauffeur and the vehicle. This function is perhaps our corporate clients' most favorite feature as they don't have to call to see where the vehicle for their VIP is; they can watch it in real-time. For group work, Zipwhip lets us send the program manager customized updates for all of their booked trips. This is such a time saver in so many ways. Time is money and for a small business, there are many ways that this helps. Our employees spend less time on the phone and productivity is increased. Texting is great too as it serves as documentation should any issues arise.

Return on Investment
  • It's improved sale attribution, which allowed us to spend on more effective channels and decrease spends on less effective channels.
  • It's saved marketing spends, which were actual fraud through affiliate networks, as we were able to prove the fraud from Branch and avoided paying out to that affiliate.

  • They out of the blue raised the price 300% on us that negatively impacted the budget we had planned out for the year.
  • Initially it did help increase contact rates.
  • Time consuming and hard to manage.
