Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam for backup of virtual and physical devices. Snapshots are taken to disk and then written to tape on a daily basis, covering 3 TB of backups every day.

Pros

  • Incremental backups.
  • Virtual workload snapshot/backups.
  • Virtual workload test and actual restores.

Cons

  • Physical backup (issues post Windows updates needing restarts).
  • Physical test restores (recent improvements).

  • We reduced backup times from 14+ hours nightly (sometimes not finishing in time) to just 2 hours by utilizing incremental and parallel to disk, then from there to tape.
Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, WordPerfect Office, Microsoft Office 2016 (discontinued)
Star product in the virtual space. Regular and progressive updates to the platform by a company focused on the future. Great support team that takes ownership of any problems. Innovative solutions such as RestoreLabs that solves problems you didn't know you had. Physical backups check the box, and while definitely not the focus of the organization, do get the job done. Ditto for the tape space. Overall a reliable product with good support.
