Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

I am the systems administrator for a critical department on campus. We back up our servers on a regular basis, and replicate them off-site. This is done on a daily 30-day retention.

Pros

  • Scheduling of different functions separately
  • Ease of setting up servers to be replicated or backed up

Cons

  • The ability to live mount SQL databases from the archives or actual machines would be handy.

  • We don't have to do much more than monitor for issues, and issues are typically not the fault of Veeam.
I would rate the product higher, but recent changes in the licensing have made it frustrating on our part, and it is suddenly more expensive to achieve the same protection. We expect increases in cost, but this is significantly more for us.
