Overall Satisfaction with SAP Integration Suite

From SAP Integration Suite, we are using Cloud Integration capability to develop Integration Flows in order to integrate different applications that are part of our organization landscape. They can be on-premise applications or cloud applications indistinctly. The aim is always to synchronize or exchange data from source application to target application for different purposes like Track and Trace solutions, payroll solutions or timesheet solutions.

Pros

  • Easy coding, simplifying Apache Camel.
  • Providing a variety of connectors / adapters.
  • Up to date in protocols and security.
  • Continuous updates addressing new features and bugfixes.

Cons

  • Monitoring capabilities, they should be more flexible providing more monitoring functionalities easy to use
  • AI extended not only for Premium Editions
  • Reducing time to market as developments are easy to do with SAP IS
  • Tool that is seen as a helper or problem-solving as some integrations wouldn't have been possible without SAP IS (file generations, adapters, transformations...)
  • Helping other departments like automatizing some tasks like payroll management
With SAP Integration Suite it can be possible all types of scenarios. Scenario 1 Cloud to cloud: SAP IS can be the middleware of applications based on cloud. Scenario 2 Cloud to On-Premise: SAP IS can be the middleware for inbound communication. Scenario 3 On-Premise to Cloud: SAP IS can be the middleware for outbound communication. Additionally you can integrate non-SAP systems. We have implemented all scenarios in our company.
The built-in predictive analytics and machine learning capabilities are one more point where SAP Integration Suite helps developers and businesses achieve their objectives. For example, Machine Learning can be helping when you want to map and transform inbound messages to outbound messages, a task that can be tedious but this way is easier.
I have experience with Apache Service Mix which is a bundle of 4 Apache components: ActiveMQ, Camel, Karaf, CXF. With SAP Integration Suite you have a more friendly developer experience because everything is integrated in one product and it offers much more functionalities (Connectors, API management, Event Mesh) and the hardware is maintained by SAP. You can focus on pure development where it is also much easier with the interface provided the convertors, transformation and web services configuration.
