Overall Satisfaction with Miro
In the past, I used Miro as the collaboration tool for Program Increment planning. Most recently, I used it as a collaboration tool for the capture planning and solution development of an opportunity pursuit. The main problems it solved were: 1) collaborating outside the network, 2) single place to go to for all discussions allowing easier navigation to content created in past conversations. We then took the result of those dozens of collaboration sessions and converted it into a proposal outline.
Pros
- Start up for new user. I didn't have to spend much time helping people get setup.
- Building tables/free-form boxes, etc., to support the topic at hand.
- Diversity in built-in templates allowing for a kick start to creativity.
Cons
- Exporting to word. Perhaps to other areas, too. But we built a table in Miro and our author said it was very time consuming getting stuff out of the table and into word.
- For some people, the board really bogged down and kept crashing. Not sure what the driver behind that is. But similarly, I noticed that as more content got added, the board got slower. So, perhaps a way to "cold storage" areas in the board.
- Ability to hide content. For example, I wanted to keep everything in one place, but I can't give partners access to some of that information. It would be a good feature to be able to have sub-permissions for certain areas of the board.
- Not spamming board members when new members are added. Perhaps this was a problem with how we set it up, but I believe everyone got notified when we added another member to the board.
- Perhaps this is a feature but it hasn't jumped out to me... the ability to create templates and share those templates with others. I would like to create a opportunity pursuit template.
- All I can think of is what I've already said, which is simplified collaboration across networks. Having to manage credentials within one network, or using some sort of shared document/space approach, would be time consuming and expensive. And this leads to faster planning, etc.
I've spoken about this a lot already. But this is the main value. We started a pursuit over the summer with partners spread out over the country and were able to get into the planning quickly and effectively.
I haven't done any analysis on other products. I started using it because our Agile Coach was using it.
