Overall Satisfaction with Miro

Since I introduced Miro to our organisation nearly five years ago, it has now become one of the primary applications which many roles use within our company. Ranging from multi-location collaboration workshops, through presentations and discussion forums, to planning and documentation, the majority of our teams use Miro on a weekly, if not daily basis. This app helped us greatly through the 'interesting times' of COVID and remote-based working, and continues to be as critical to our operations since returning to Hybrid based working across multiple locations in Europe and Africa.

Pros

  • Ease of use, including access controls and sharing
  • Real-time collaboration on expansive digital spaces (e.g. boards)
  • Structure of Teams and Projects, allowing access across multiple organisations
  • Ability to link directly to areas of the board, when sharing key topics to others

Cons

  • The 'Shapes' palette can be limiting when wireframing, for example lack of defining 'rounded corners' on objects, without them expanding with the size of the object itself
  • Exporting of presentations to static documentation, such as PDF, including 'frame notes'
  • At an Enterprise level, the role-based access controls and permissions to grant / revoke access is quite limited
  • Increase in multi-location collaboration
  • Increased velocity during discovery and planning exercises
  • Increased team chemistry through effective and entertaining ceremonies, e.g. Refinement sessions
The user-friendly nature of Miro makes it very easy to pick up and play, without going through a serious of sign-up or tutorial areas. It's possible to share to 'unverified' users whilst letting them in, but constantly discovering new and exciting features when using it.
We have Miro integrated with our JIRA instance, and this was a seamless process, even being Data Center based (i.e. not Cloud). Often this is a hurdle with other platforms, but this has improved our processes of roadmap planning and backlog visualisation, through JIRA Cards
Immensly. During the period of remote-working in COVID, this is pivotal to ensure teams were aligning on the same approach, when we could not collaborate in person. Even with the return to work through Hybrid working regiemes, this has proved to be incredibly valuable to all areas of the business.
Miro generally beats the competition outlined above (specifically the Whiteboard feature of Microsoft 365), in terms of it's ease of use and presentation. Whilst it may have a higher price point than some competitors, the range of functionality and access controls justify this in my opinion. It's a more complete, professional app of choice.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

As covered previously, we use Miro daily when collaborating on product and engineering workshops across multiple locations and organisations. This allows people to 'Follow Me' when talking through a user journey, to helping to explain the flow of data between and across systems, with others pinning questions as you go in the form of sticky notes.

Using Miro

  • Team collaboration
  • Product discovering and planning
  • Technical refinement and documentation
  • Presentations and communication
  • Presentations, moving over from PowerPoint
  • Speed and collaboration on wireframing
I haven't used a product from memory that I've been this impressed with, and become so reliant on.
