Overall Satisfaction with GoodData

We use GoodData to process data into visual reports. We then embed those reports on websites for clients to view.
BI by processing and scheduling the update process of new data. It also solves our need to display analytics to stakeholders

Pros

  • Great customer service
  • Knowledgable help desk resources to help with any step of the GoodData process
  • Intuitive dashboards

Cons

  • Custom formulas could use some work. I feel it is restrictive and not straightforward for a more technical user. I would like there to be a large library of methods that allow you to manipulate the data. Methods like slicing or finding the substring or index of a string. Also methods for other data types for numbers and so forth.
  • Increase the number of data log formats you accept as input into your platform. They currently provide CSV format for data logs but they don't have options for JSON, W3C Extended log format, and others. If they make the process to import data very easy then it will save customers from needing to convert it to CSV themselves.
  • We ended up choosing a different provider because our use case wasn't an easy integration with GoodData. If we had a different form of data that was already processed with more formulas and calculations then I could see a great ROI using GoodData
It was intuitive to use. Kudos to GoodData.

Do you think GoodData delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with GoodData's feature set?

Yes

Did GoodData live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of GoodData go as expected?

No

Would you buy GoodData again?

Yes

We actually chose AWS Quicksight over GoodData because it accepted our unique log format (not CSV) and had easy ways to enhance our data with formulas. Once again, if we had data logs already in CSV format then it would have been an easy choice to go with GoodData.
For basic data that is already in structured DB like SQL or structured CSV log that needs not much further formulas to process the data then GoodData is a home run. For different data log formats that need further processing of the data into more fields of data, that will be more of a challenge than an easy integration.
