Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight
We use DraftSight to carry out basic 2D electrical and instrumentation drawings. It is used primarily by the process department. We chose DraftSight, as it provides all the features we require to produce professional 2D drawings. Other free software packages we have tried have had certain features missing, so we would need more than one package to complete the task.
Pros
- Easy export to PDF
- Customisable ribbons
- Preinstalled fonts
Cons
- Doesn't always pick up formatting from other drawings made in other drawing packages
- Used to be free
- Customization is very confusing
- Allowed us to draw EC&I docs in house
- Allows us to make minor mods to other people's drawings
- We have to pay for the same software that we used for free for several years
