Overall Satisfaction with Avalara

We use Avalara's AvaTax to calculate tax for eCommerce and in-store retail sales. We are a franchise organization and have almost 300 unique legal entities in our organization.

Pros

  • Ease of use for setup
  • Incredible account model for franchisor
  • Really great resources for questions and investigation

Cons

  • Level 1 support

  • There's a steep learning curve from far less sophisticated systems
The documentation for developers on the API calls was very helpful.

We are using AvaTax API calls to calculate tax and to commit sales transactions.

We believe that Avalara better supports franchise model.
The fact that AvaTax can support an unlimited number of companies underneath our account makes it very easy for the franchise model. It would be nice if owners with multiple corporations would be able to access each with a single email. I like how Avalara takes feedback from its customers seriously and is looking to improve the product to better service us.
