Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Avalara is used by the Finance department and helps us calculate, collect and remit the appropriate sales taxes via a seamless integration with our accounting system.

Pros and Cons

Pros

The integration with Intacct was easy to set up and use.
Avalara makes reconciling sales taxes to your GL a monthly basis very easy!
Quarterly nexus reviews helps us stay compliant as we grow and the nexus laws change.

Cons

Pulling in G/L post date from Intacct into Avalara would further help the reconciliation to our G/L since some of our invoices post to the G/L at a different date than the invoice date.

Return on Investment

Because of Avalara we have not had to hire an in-house tax accountant yet.

Very satisfied! I did the implementation myself!

Systems Integrated With

Integrated only with Sage Intacct.

Very easy to do as it took me one afternoon to do myself.

Usability

There are times where the UI is confusing and there is a significant delay in updating reports/transactions sometimes delaying the reconciliation process.

Likelihood to Recommend

Avalara is well suited for fast growing companies looking to gain efficiencies in sales tax compliance and reporting vs. hiring a CPA firm or in-house tax team.
