Overall Satisfaction with Anaplan

Anaplan provides a great deal of flexibility when business rules. With its strong calculation engine, I'm able to run multiple scenarios in a matter of seconds. This helps my clients do What-if analysis and compare scenarios during their budgeting and forecasting processes.

Pros

  • Calculation Engine - Very fast even when calculating millions and millions of cells
  • Flexibility - Able to model all of my business rules
  • Collaboration - Able to work on budgets and forecasts alongside all other users.

Cons

  • Reporting - Would like to see Anaplan bring us similar capabilities as the other reporting tools
  • Data Management - Would like Anaplan to provide additional feature that accelerates data cleanup
  • ALM - Would like to push certain changes from our development workspace to the production workspace without having to move all of them.
  • Able to create scenarios in minutes rather than hours
  • Able to centralize my key assumptions and have a single source of truth for those
  • Have more visibility into the budgeting process (% completion)
Anaplan's overall usability is impressive, particularly with its flexibility and powerful modeling capabilities, making it a strong tool for complex planning needs. However, the platform has a steep learning curve, especially for new users. Improving user guidance, such as more intuitive navigation and in-platform tips, could significantly enhance the overall experience.
Anaplan provides all the functions required for reporting (IRR, previous, etc.). I also find the user experience is more intuitive for both end users and modelers. Anaplan has recently came out with a myriad of new features, and have announced even more. This is an evolving tool that keeps getting better.

Anaplan is well suited for anything related to budgeting and forecasting. It is a flexible tool that can scale to multiple scenarios, which is especially helpful for what-if analysis. Even though it is not a tool that I would recommend pixel perfect reporting, it is going in the right direction in that area.

Anaplan Implementation

The implementation of Anaplan has been generally positive. The platform provides powerful features and flexibility, which have been valuable for our needs. However, the setup process could be more streamlined, and additional support during the onboarding phase would enhance the experience. Addressing these areas could make the implementation process even more effective.
