Overall Satisfaction with Admin Tools for Jira

We use Admin Tools for Jira to manage work for our engineering and research teams, including backlog, progress between projects, workload assigned to each team member. This also allows us to look at performance metrics to understand throughput in the team using burndown charts, points per engineer etc. As a tech team, this is a critical tool for us.

Pros

  • Keep track of work
  • Allow us to prioritise specific work
  • Understand who is doing what

Cons

  • UI is not very user friendly
  • It's hard to know where to find things unless you know it or have done detailed onboarding
  • Too many clicks to be able to see what I need to see as a Product Manager
  • Hard to track things in the board without a scrum master or someone to do the Admin
  • Allows us to know % of work done for each epic which is good
  • Requires some level of maintenance which takes time away from engineers
Usability isn't great I have to say. The product is quite convoluted and difficult to use at times. If you don't know where to go, it takes quite some time to find what you need, add the right filters and discover. More simple features and pathways would be very helpful.
Shortcut is a lot more friendly that Admin Tools for Jira in my view. I have used it in my previous roles and can easily weigh up the benefits. The top one is simplicity. Easy, quick and automated. That's what you want admin to be. Less admin, more software development would be ideal.

Yes

Admin Tools for Jira is the most widely used tool for software development tracking but I don't think it's friendly to use, especially for product managers. I wish there was more investment being made around time saving activities, progress updates, automations. We want to minimise admin and improve throughput for engineers and product people but doesn't seem like Admin Tools for Jira is moving quickly in this front.
