My integration of WordPress VIP

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use this product for content management and analysis. This choice was made partially because of the enterprise security features available . We were also interested in the professional services but did not wind up using them as we originally intended. We saw the integration with CI/CD and Git as a big advantage as well. Support options also seemed to be superior to other options as well.

Pros

  • Security is a big one.
  • Integration with GitHub
  • Availability

Cons

  • Wish integrations/plugins were more comprehensive
  • Expensive
  • The REST APIs are okay.

Return on Investment

  • I dont really deal with the business objectives. But it is expensive
  • Our uptime has gotten significantly better

IT JUST WORKS -- no matter the traffic spikes and volume when content goes viral.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are handling large-scale traffic from Google when it spikes. We have extensive social media profiles on Facebook and get much traffic from Google News and Discovery. This means that traffic can be very unpredictable, and we need to make sure that our servers "just work" when there is a spike in traffic. Any downtime is lost revenue literally by the second. WPVIP ensures everything is running, no matter the traffic volume, and running/loading fast!!

Pros

  • Fast support when there are issues.
  • They always want you to be happy.
  • Scale is not an issue for traffic, it just works.

Cons

  • I wish there were insights on making our website use fewer resources and performance recommendations for my web developers.

Return on Investment

  • I spend 0 hours a week worrying about hosting; before, it was at least 2-3 hours.

Wordpress VIP Review.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

WordPress VIP is used for hosting / infrastructure of our websites theCHIVE.com and chivemediagroup.com. In addition, we use Wordpress VIP for API data associated with our daily posts. The API data is ingested into our native apps on Android and iOS

Pros

  • Keeps us informed of upcoming releases/patches associated with the Wordpress Platform.
  • Introduces us to products/companies/Wordpress plugins as necessary when new business needs arise.
  • Amy and Allie are excellent at managing the relationship; speaking with them on our monthly calls is a pleasure.

Cons

  • The only issue we have had is access to the TTLs in DNS, and we are unable to change those.

Return on Investment

  • By migrating our mobile applications to Wordpress's APIs, we could remove a large portion of our technical infrastructure, which was hosted on Google Cloud, along with an additional database and a lot of business logic used to support data transformation and ingestion.

WordPress VIP is a decent product

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

- We use VIP to host certain content that is super performant and handles our social marketing use cases.

- It is easy to work with when we are coordinating with 3rd parties to create and publish certain content.

- Configurable and easy to collaborate

Pros

  • User management
  • Core use case, host content and deliver performance pages
  • Simple and easy to work with

Cons

  • Too many different dashboard formats
  • Everything should have the same look and feel.
  • The admin portal looks different than the user content portal

Return on Investment

  • Cost has increased for WordPress which is a downside. It went over 25k / year this time
  • More increase would result in us probably trying to find a local solution.

Enterprise WordPress hosting from the people that build Wordpress

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Elementary Digital is a dedicated WordPress agency operating in the EMEA region. We work with clients looking to create and manage Enterprise-level WordPress websites. The concerns often with WordPress are centered around security, scalability, and performance, which for those who work in WordPress (and the organizations that use it) are not issues. However, one of the key considerations for these concerns is hosting and this is where WordPress VIP steps in. Effectively it's hosting from the organization (Automattic) that develops WordPress and its hosting is closely aligned to the development roadmap of WordPress itself. This, of course, provides great peace of mind for organizations, working directly with the CMS owners and being first in line to ensure security is paramount allowing for scale, reliability, and most important performance.

Pros

  • Security - class leading security, ensuring sites are protected and operate hassle free
  • Scalability - provide patches and updates first before the market place
  • Reliability - up to 99.9% up time, with a fantastic track record
  • Performance - hitting the high notes for Core Web Vitals and ensuring WordPress is operating at its peak performance

Cons

  • Smaller packages - which typically only operate in the Enterprise space, could offer more cost-effective solutions for smaller organizations

Return on Investment

  • Enterprise - providing a true enterprise hosting solution for organizations that ticks all the boxes (especially for IT Directors)
  • WordPress best practice - learning and aligning development methodologies to VIP's best practice
  • Updates - first to receive updates about WordPress ensuring we keep our clients updated
  • Belief and confidence - in the VIP hosting framework ensure our clients are getting the best service
