Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to educate and communicate our value in sales and partner development cycles. It addresses both the identification of our target demographic and also the amount of energy it takes to train somebody in person. It has been an effective tool in spreading awareness of our solutions in a scalable fashion.

Likelihood to Recommend

Wistia is well suited for businesses that are B2-B oriented, and require feeding information to an integrated CRM platform. This would prevent the data silos if you are using the out-of-the-box turnstile functionality. I would recommend using embedded HubSpot forms for example. It would be a less appropriate tool to use unless you plan to incorporate a CTA within the video.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use all the marketing and accessibility tools WISTIA offers. From calls-to-action, chapterizing, video SEO, and branding the video controls, we could not imagine a more powerful tool to support our brand and offerings. We teach video production and marketing basics and take the time to teach the difference between WISTIA vs. YOUTUBE vs VIMEO. We are obviously HUGE fans of WISTIA and longtime users. We are super fans of their engaging team. They are a fun and highly creative bunch.

It's so awesome to see my videos come up on Google Search. A click brings viewers right to my website!!! Incredibly powerful. If I were just posting on YouTube, visitors would end up there and then off to the next best cat video instead of taking action with me on my website.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I needed a place to host evergreen video content for my clients in a way that was easy to manage, looked professional on my website, and could provide some level of viewing statistics and analysis. Their features for marketing, advertising, and creating lead magnet videos are great as well. I love the feature where people can watch the first portion of content before being prompted to enter their email address in order to see the rest of the video.

Cons

It's more expensive than its direct competitors.
Should include video capturing/filming tools (Soapbox) as part of the Wistia subscription, in my opinion.
Some editing features are harder to use than others.

Likelihood to Recommend

For longer-form content, it is really nice to be able to break up your video into chapters or sections that create a navigation menu for the viewer. I also find it helpful to be able to but different pop-up links at different parts of the video. I don't think it is a great choice for video hosting if you aren't going to create and host a fair amount of content because it is pretty expensive to start with. They also add on a small monthly charge for each video beyond a certain base amount, which I think is not like the pricing models of other video hosting tools. Nevertheless, Wistia is used by many well-known companies and brands, and using their video player for your own videos will come across as high production and very professional because of that association.

We use Wistia to add videos to our website TutsPlus.com. They do a great job of streaming the videos to the client that uses our site. Their video player works very well.

Pros

Very flexible and usable video player.
Great streaming server.
Very easy website to work with.

Cons

Adding lessons to a project isn’t always easy as it adds to the top always and not the bottom.

It natively integrates into our website so we don't have to worry about coding in another video hosting software. Its seamless integration makes our video management a lot easier, and helps us grow.

We use Wistia as a customized hosting platform for all any videos we host on our marketing website, including testimonials, help/training videos, course videos, and conference talk recordings. It helps us create a unique video appearance and experience compared to common, free hosting platforms like Youtube or Vimeo, making our videos stand out.

Pros

Wistia enables a lot of customization in the video player, making it personalized to your business.
The user experience is pretty intuitive and easy to use without too much training.
Wistia's help articles, blog and instructional videos were very helpful as we began investing more resources into video production.

Cons

It would be nice to have a video player template that you could automatically apply to all the videos you upload. This would save us time when uploading and preparing new videos in Wistia.

Likelihood to Recommend

If your business has the resources to put towards creating videos that are more customized to your branding, Wistia is a good choice. I would say Wistia is best suited for companies that need to stand out more from their competition. For these companies, hosting all your videos on Youtube looks a little less "put together" if you embed those videos on your website. But if your business is young, is a boutique, or won't really benefit from personalized branding, Youtube is more than sufficient.

Wistia is the platform we upload and share company videos inside our organization and outside to customers. Wistia's tools have supported multiple teams inside our company and make content easily sharable to the public we market to. Every month, our videos are sent to and viewed by hundreds of individuals.

Not sure if it's so much a Wistia problem as it is a Soapbox problem
Seems like those two programs could function a little smoother together
Not to hate on Soapbox; they're great too, but the options to edit videos and upload to Wistia seem a bit limited or clunky

For our company, Wistia is pretty much everything we could need at this time. Wistia is quite simple and relatively easy to use. Our videos are able to be easily shared in 5-10 different ways for different platforms. It works! We appreciate Wistia's tools, and Soapbox being integrated helps too.

Wistia enables us to easily store, share, and manage all of our video content at Sendible. Previously, we'd use YouTube for hosting (not the greatest, we know), and while it was convenient, it was too distracting for people when exploring our content. Additionally, we'd often re-upload videos when the new version would be available, and for most video hosting platforms, that means losing all the historical engagement data. What's amazing about Wistia is that it takes away the distractions, organises our videos, and allows us to re-upload content while avoiding breaking any links and giving us access to more data.

Cons

The Share to YouTube and share to other social media channels feature can be quite clunky.
Nothing else I can think of. I wish I'd use Wistia more often because it has an incredible amount of useful functionality!

Wistia is perfect for any business that creates long-form videos regularly and isn't entirely looking to share them with the world. We store customer webinars, training videos, onboarding content, and podcast sessions. And if you're still using YouTube for video hosting, remember that it's an incredibly distracting place! The moment your prospect or customer looks at a video, they could quickly start viewing something else and forget what they were doing in the first place. Wistia is worth the investment for all the excellent features, including branded landing pages, transcriptions, video CTAs, and more!

Wistia is a video platform that we use both on the company's website as well as behind the scenes for employees and contributors. It makes everything customizable and it also gives us the option to have a carousel of videos and calls to action. It really works with your company to make it work with your brand.
