We use Watchguard Network Security and its products to protect our network from outside threats, manage our inside network, and handle multiple connections in-house. It allows us to separate personal Wi-Fi from our business network and connections from the web to an outward-facing website. It also allows us to use multiple internet connections for redundancy.

Watchguard Firebox helps to defend our network from unwanted intrusions on the internet. It allows us to customize that protection to allow the internet services we need and block the ones we do not want or are potentially dangerous. We use their VPN services to secure staff when working remotely and I like the ability to easily block access to any of our or all services from countries that we do not deal with.

Years ago when I first started working with WatchGuard I noticed lots of attacks coming from countries that we had no business dealings with. Having the ability to easily block countries from all access to our network allowed me to eliminate almost all of this.

From a network security point of view, WatchGuard Firebox has added that layer of protection against external threats as well, given IT Support visibility on the network. The Executive Dashboard and Report is a great summary of things when having management meetings.

I would give them a 10 but they really need to work on the speed of their tech support. When you get a technician they are very knowledgeable, but It has taken me multiple attempts to get someone in support on the phone. It doesn't matter if you mark it as having a high impact on your company, they are either extremely short staffed; or extremely busy. Either way, this is the single biggest area they should improve
