We are using NetBackup to back up our transactional data into tapes and cloud backup. This has been in use for over 7 years now, and it has not failed us. The storage of data has also been done with ease.

NBU is well suited for taking backups to tape, and the restore is always complete. The scheduler is one key component that we depend on.

I have been working with Veritas NetBackup for more than 10 years. It is more stable and scalable. Veritas Appliance is a single vendor approach, so end clients can contact a single vendor for all the issues and support. It can scale to the requirements of medium to enterprise sized business.

Symantec NetBackup Appliance comes with a 30 day trial. An end user can test the appliance and its features before they start using the appliance itself.

NetBackup Appliance gives an efficient solution for backup, storage, and deduplication. Providing simple, cost-effective backup and recovery for the data center, remote offices, and virtual environments. In our organization NBU ENGINEERS(Department) use Integrated Appliance sometimes. Some pitfalls of adopting a fully integrated backup appliance include fewer choices for choosing your deduplication storage pool. Software-agnostic deduplication platforms such as Data Domain, Quantum and Sepaton can scale well beyond the storage pools pre-configured in an integrated backup appliance. For large environments, this is no small consideration, because the larger the effective deduplication storage pool, the more efficient data reduction becomes. It can also be argued that fewer, larger storage pools are easier to manage than multiple smaller pools, despite the upfront advantages of a quick deployment afforded by a fully integrated software and hardware appliance.

Symantec NetBackup Appliance is good for enterprise level backup and restore solutions but not for mid level.
