We backup our on-premises VMware server structure. It is a disaster recovery fail safe that gives us peace of mind that we can recover in a reasonable amount of time. Hopefully we don't need it, but backups are one of the most important aspects to consider in keeping ourselves operational.
Pros
Data Resilience Maturity Model
Veeam Data Cloud Vault Integration
Accelerated Change Detection
Cons
Complex Licensing and Pricing Structure
Limited Support for Certain Databases and Platforms
Cloud Integration and Direct Storage Connectivity

We run an Enterprise Virtual Environment (VMware). Veeam Data Platform is optimized for virtualized workloads, offering fast, agentless backups, granular recovery, and replication. Ransomware Recovery and Cyber Resilience. We love the immutable backups, threat detection, and integration with security tools. We are a small business on the cusp of big growth. Transitioning from our small business needs to enterprise grade can be concerning in the costs department.

We use VDP to back up all of our virtual and physical servers at our main corporate datacenter and also at 12 regional facilities. We also replicate critical workloads between datacenters for quick disaster recovery. VeeamOne and Veeam Enterprise Manager are important tools to help us manage all of these backups and provide reporting.
Pros
Backup various workloads across platforms in a consistent manner
Easily configure and maintain
Secures our infrastructure and prevents bad actors from tampering with our backups.
Cons
Veeam seems to work much better with vSphere than it does with Hyper-V. The Hyper-V jobs sometimes leave orphan snapshots and causes other issues.
I would love to see more backup infrastructure hardening guides from official sources, including things like GPOs to implement.
We have some very large VMs that are difficult to replicate because the job runs so long. It would be great if there were ways to resume a partially completed replication job.
Although it does backup oracle databases directly, we ended up giving up on these due very frequent problems. We now use native tools (RMAN) to backup Oracle to disk locally and then use Veeam to backup the entire VM the Oracle databases reside on.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is very easy and reliable in a VMware environment. I have never not been able to restore data from a backup job that had completed successfully. Veeam does a great job backing up Windows and Linux VMs but can be a pain to get working on physical servers, although once you do get the Veeam Agent backups working they seem to be reliable.

We use it for Backup and Replication and it addresses our needs for backing up all our physical and virtual servers. I use it for backing up 25 servers in our environment and it does a great job. I also use it to replicate our servers to a secondary site.
Pros
Backup
Notifications
Easy to Use
Monitoring
Cons
Like most things, more information when setting up would be great but there is a lot of documentation.
tutorial of the proxy server
easier way to find where to go for reviewing the potential malware devices and to mark if it is a false positive or not.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think it well be well suited in both a large and small organization. It's easy to use and manage as well as the notification are clean and explain what the issue is really well. It is well suited for copying data to a local NAS and replicating data to the cloud and replicating servers to a secondary site.

Likelihood to Recommend
Veeam Data Platform is a mature product w/ many useful features at a reasonable price for a mid-sized company. Veeam Data Platform is a software-only solution. This means that customers need to provide the underlying platform, whether virtual or physical, to run Veeam’s software. We use Veeam Data Platform with our Nutanix/VMware clusters and it It excels in situations requiring data resilience, ensuring business continuity and minimizing downtime.

I utilize the Veeam Data Platform to back up my cloud infrastructure, while Arcserve backs up my on-premises infrastructure. The business problems that Veeam Data Platform addresses allow me to easily back up and restore my cloud and virtual machine environment.
Pros
Back-up Jobs are done well.
The system self-inventories back up tapes well.
I am able to organize my offsite and onsite tape backups well.
Cons
Can make remediating issues within Veeam a lot easier.
If Tech support would communicate better.
If pricing for licensing were a bit more affordable.
Likelihood to Recommend
Veeam Data Platform is suitable for backing up virtual machines and cloud infrastructure. I wish Veeam were better suited to back up an on-premises environment.

We follow a 3-2-1 backup rule. We have two separate domains in two separate locations that we need to backup.
Pros
The basics of the system are easy to setup
It is reliable, you can trust it to backup your data and that the data will be retrievable
Adding new physical and virtual machines to the backup plans is easy
Cons
It is a very complex system that does require training
Documentation could be better
Sometimes machines don't backup and you aren't notified, you must be vigilant about checking logs
Recoveries can be slow, but this could be us not having things setup correctly
Likelihood to Recommend
It is a great system but for us had a steep learning curve, something I was not expecting out of our backup system. It is reliable, which is what matters when it comes to backups. Support is great, we were able to hop on calls with someone to help us better understand the system and to go over our setup. Sometimes the system has to be rebooted, we will notice we aren't getting notifications on backups and realize the system isn't communicating. We have not been able to determine what is causing this.

We use Veeam B&R to protect VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, and baremetal workloads. It is able to meet our RPO and RTO needs with room to spare. Veeam helps us sleep better at night.
Pros
Integrations - building your environment around Veeam offers real benefits (eg DirectSAN)
Flexibility - the new instance based licenses proved to be far more flexible than the older socket based licensing. 1 VM / 1 workstation / 1 instance.
Hardware Agnostic - bring your own Hardened Linux Repo / SAN / compute.
Cons
ProxMox integration - glad they've added what they have, but it is clearly incomplete
Lower priority support cases - high-severity cases still get prompt attention, but lower priority cases draw on for weeks or in some cases months.
Scoped access / RBAC in Veeam B&R. Enterprise Manager offers SOME additional controls, but the B&R thick console is very rigid in its role assignment.
Likelihood to Recommend
VMware shops with compatible arrays ( https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/storage/storage_system_requirements.html?ver=120 ) will get a lot of bang for the buck out of Veeam B&R. ProxMox shops will get minimal value out of B&R compared to ProxMox Backup Server or other offerings.
