Veeam Data Platform is used to back up our in-office servers, including AD, Security Camera Storage, and internal application servers. Prior to Veeam Data Platform, we had no method of backing up these servers. By utilizing Veeam Data Platform, we can be assured that we have adequate backups of vital servers that help our company run day-to-day.
Pros
Manage number of backups (number of fulls vs. incremental)
Easy to deploy
Easy to maintain
Likelihood to Recommend
I've not seen any scenarios where Veeam Data Platform would be less appropriate. For what we use Veeam Data Platform for, I am quite happy with the effort of maintenance needed (extremely low), ease of setup (extremely easy to do), and overall have had a very positive experience. Setting up Hyper-V backups was extremely simple (basically point and click) and we've not had any issues with the backups since starting.

We use Veeam Data Platform (CDP), replication and backup to protect our database, VMs and files. CDP ensure realtime backup and recovery for our databases and most critical information without downtime; ongoing replication backs up our important servers and VMs; backup is used to back up all our regular VMs and files. The three tier Veeam backup strategies provide us different levels of redundancy, backup and system protection.
Pros
Continuous Data Protection for databases without downtime
Veeam replication protects important servers, VMs and files
Veeam backup backs up all the regular servers, objects and files
Cons
For Veeam Data Platform (CDP), once it's switched to secondary, we have to rebuild the scenario to switch back. We can't switch back and forth as necessary.
Likelihood to Recommend
1. CDP continuous protection is good for critial servers and VMs that don't expect downtime, 2. Replication is good for important services and VMs that you can define interval and RTO, 3. Veeam Backup can back up any files, systems and servers easily at customized configuration.

We needed a reliable solution to back up many systems to the cloud and to do so securely. Ransomeware protection was something we needed in case the worst should happen. Veeam Data Platform seemed like it would fit the bill and after a trial period we determined it would fit our use case
Pros
Simple to use
Reliable
Easy to test and verify
Likelihood to Recommend
Veeam Data Platform has been great for securely backing up our systems. It's been stable and reliable.

We use Veeam Data Platform to backup and secure our virtual machine cluster. VDP ensures that we always have a backup that is ready at a moments notice. VDP automates the backup and testing of the backups and can provide an overview and details of the backups (like size and how long it took to take the backup) at just a few clicks of the mouse.
Pros
Automated backups
Automated testing of the backups.
Easy restoration of backed up objects.
Reports on the state of backups.
Cons
The licensing model needs to be simplified and streamlined.
Integration with more kinds of virtual host clusters.
Better documentation.
Likelihood to Recommend
Veeam Data Platform is really good at doing what is designed to do. The features of the product are complete and robust. I have not experienced any downtime - having a backup is useless if the platform is down. In the past I have had problems integrating VDP with S3 providers. Support was very minimal and often multiple requests just pointed me at the same out of date web page.

We use it to backup all of our production and other areas virtual machines. It helps us protect all of our deployments dedicated to the key processes of our business.
Pros
Daily backups
Data recovery
Endpoint file protection
Cons
Exporting backups with powershell for automation purposes
Likelihood to Recommend
Works excellent for virtual machines protection.
Less helpful with specific network drives or folder, or versioning
Veeam Data platform helps protect our organization's data against malware, ransomware, and the latest cyber threats. Since our organization has several endpoints that need protection, the Veeam Data platform provides comprehensive functionality to protect all our physical, virtual, and Cloud assets. It helps us back up and recover our critical data during data loss or disasters.
Pros
Fast Data Backup and Recovery.
Disaster Recovery.
Proactive Threat Detection.
Cons
Veeam API Integration.
Automation of Tasks.
Disaster Recovery.
Likelihood to Recommend
Based on my own experience, the Veeam Data platform is best suited for the backup and recovery of virtual machines. It has integration even with the OpenStack environment. It is also well-suited for ransomware protection, disaster recovery, and business continuity scenarios. However, the platform might not work well with small organizations due to complexity and cost factors.

We use it to back up servers at regular intervals and for on demand backups before performing upgrades to roll back from in the event of failure. We regularly test our backups and have had the "opportunity" to restore from backups numerous times and never had any failed recoveries. We've also run servers directly from their backup images and transitioned them, live, back to production.
Pros
Backups
Managing those backups/scheduled tasks
Restoring from backups
Running backups live from those backups
Software support is great; the few times we've ever needed them they've pulled through
Cons
A change to the interface for mounting then recovering individual files or folders feels clunky but it's the only complaint about the software. It works, the process just isn't as smooth as I'd like.
An inline product update from an update button rather than going to the Veeam page to download a new setup file would be pretty slick, not a deal breaker by any means though
It would be pretty neat to have an inline tech support data upload, provide a ticket number and have the support upload go directly to Veeam rather than taking that archive file and uploading it to the ticket via the web portal

We have a small deployment with a handful of physical hosts and two dozen or so virtual servers. It's been a perfect fit for us to manage all those backups and to restore entire systems from or even pull specific files/folders from a backup as needed if just a few things need changed/rolled back.

We use Veeam Data Platform to backup our entire VM environment. We have several Windows servers, and several Linux servers that are essential to keeping our business operating and our customers happy. We have several users who use Veeam Data Platform, all with different levels of experience. The restoration process is simple and easy to figure out.
Pros
Easy file level recovery.
Easy to maintain which servers are backed up.
Cons
Licensing has been strange in the past. Per Core/CPU? Why?
Likelihood to Recommend
We have a fairly simple infrastructure, Veeam Data Platform works very well for our needs. I know there are a lot of higher end, more advanced features that we do not use. I like Veeam Data Platform because while it can do so much, it also works for the smaller, more simple use cases like ours.

We use Veeam Backup and Replication as a proxy to backup VMWare virtual machines to a couple of backup repositories.
Pros
Veeam stands out among backup solutions because of its ability to work with almost any storage type. For example, only a small portion of backup solutions will support catalyst stores, Veeam does.
Veeam is extremely flexible when it comes to setting it up. I had a network recently that limited ethernet connectivity between the Veeam VM and the backup repository and Veeam handled it easily.
Day-to-day use of Veeam is very simple. It is easy to train our technicians to use it proficiently in a very short amount of time.
Our Veeam VMs don't have issues very often, but the one or two times I have called for support, they answered right away, and the technicians assisting us were knowledgeable about their products.
Cons
I would like to see a setting to limit the bandwidth to a maximum amount for backups.
Likelihood to Recommend
Every scenario I have encountered so far has been appropriate for Veeam. We have three solutions we choose between and even in situations where the others don't work, Veeam has had no issues providing a backup solution.
