Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We use Veeam Data Platform to backup and secure our virtual machine cluster. VDP ensures that we always have a backup that is ready at a moments notice. VDP automates the backup and testing of the backups and can provide an overview and details of the backups (like size and how long it took to take the backup) at just a few clicks of the mouse.

Pros

  • Automated backups
  • Automated testing of the backups.
  • Easy restoration of backed up objects.
  • Reports on the state of backups.

Cons

  • The licensing model needs to be simplified and streamlined.
  • Integration with more kinds of virtual host clusters.
  • Better documentation.
  • Ensuring continuity of business.
  • Knowing that the solution just works allows me to focus on other portions of the business.
The support from Kaseya has been fantastic. I always feel like a Tier 1 customer when I ask for support. Kaseya's tight integration with O365 allowed me to set up cloud based backups for that environment with just a few clicks. When it was time to deploy Unitrends, a support engineer was with me at all times until the solution was fully deployed.

Veeam Data Platform is really good at doing what is designed to do. The features of the product are complete and robust. I have not experienced any downtime - having a backup is useless if the platform is down. In the past I have had problems integrating VDP with S3 providers. Support was very minimal and often multiple requests just pointed me at the same out of date web page.
