Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows to connect our server infrastructure to our main organization backup solution. Each server has an agent deployed to it which enables a multitude of backup options depending on which type of backup we require. The agents handle all communication back to the Veeam backup and recovery console.

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows works well for all version of windows server that we've had over the years. Veeam have done a very good job of keeping backward compatibility with older servers. Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows works extremely well for our organization, providing email notifications at the end of each backup job. File compression is another big success and really ensures we get the most out of any cloud backup space we procure.

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is use for single computer backups to and external storage, for help remediate something. It's easy of use and reliable. Works with windows and linux machines. Also great for small companies to manage backup fleet of 5 to 10 machines.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have several physical and virtual machines that we required to be backed up as they host critical end user production applications. Our previous backup solution had some short falls with restores and only let us restore the entire machine

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows has let us overcome these shortfalls and also improve our backup strategy

Occasional Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows issues that require manual intervention
Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows upgrade process - sometimes requiring several reboots
Warning for non supported version of windows when new releases are released from Microsoft - which then requires upgrade once a new version is released

Our previous backup solution had some short falls with restores and only let us restore the entire machine, Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows integrated into our existing Veeam solution and now allows us to restore in any way we require (file level, Image, restore to our chosen VM platform). It also allowed us to simply add cloud backup for all of these devices

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We usually use Veeam Backup and replication and to backup efficiency some distant server, we use Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows in our organization with local repository. We can then copy this repository in our datacenter. Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows allow our organization tu use the same level of backup and restor for distant server or any PC key.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows in production servers to have an additional secondary backup solution. They are set up to retain historic copies and are also configured to alert the associated admins through email. Also, make full copies after one or two weeks of operation. Till now, they have never failed to launch.

Pros

I can perform a bare metal restore.
Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows integrates with Veeam Backup & Replication.
Start the OS from the Veeam Recovery Media.

Cons

More detailed UI.
UI Agent should be larger.
Multitasking of backup jobs.

We use it as a Simple Deployment. As a simple deployment scenario, the roles of the backup server, VMware backup proxy, and backup repository are assigned to a single machine. These roles are assigned automatically to the machine where we installed Veeam Backup & Replication. The drawback of the simple deployment scenario is that only the backup server handles and stores all data which is a single point of failure.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Three specific use cases:
1. To back up the handful of old-school physical Windows servers we still have in a couple of remote offices.
2. To back up a VM that requires a user friendly GUI for single file restores.
3. To back up AD to allow for Veeam's granular recovery of AD objects.

If needed, Veeam can convert a backup of a physical server to a virtual server

Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows helps us take backups for client computers. It integrates with the Veeam console and deploys automatically on the clients. It helps you easily create backups of your client computers by deploying this agent on them. Additionally, it requires one Veeam license for every three machines.

Stop the backup job from the console instead of having to stop from the client.
Don't consume too many resources while taking a backup.

It is suitable in any environment where you have client computers to back up (Windows, Linux, etc., doesn't matter). It helps you back up and organize everything in the Veeam console, allowing you to restore full backups of files if needed. It works pretty well as far as i tested.

We are a managed service provider who supplies backup solutions for our clients. All of our client's require daily backups to maintain data security. Having a reliable backup solution is imperative. We install Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows for our clients who need backup replication and for some of our smaller clients with older systems as it is very reliable and cheaper than most solutions.

An easier interface to navigate, sometimes it can take a while to find what your looking for in settings
It could be made easier to update from older versions to the current version, possibly in the client would help
