UserTesting serves as a primary platform for organizations to conduct comprehensive usability testing and qualitative research, enabling teams to validate product design assumptions and gather rapid user feedback. In TrustRadius reviews, its participant recruitment capabilities are widely praised, with four of six reviewers highlighting its ability to source diverse and appropriate panelists. Reviewers also value its intuitive design for study setup and robust feature set for insights.
The platform significantly accelerates product development cycles and enhances strategic decision-making by providing quick user insights. However, some reviewers, two of six, expressed concerns regarding the authenticity and professionalism of the participant pool, noting instances of misrepresentation. The scheduling system was also described as clunky. Despite these points, UserTesting is seen as an effective tool for integrating user voices into product strategy.

Because this is a big pool for testers that helps for getting prompt results
We are a design and growth agency. Without testing ideas, we have no way to validate them. UserTesting allows us to research ideas correctly and validate concepts.
It's used on both projects and retainers largely by designers and data experts within the discovery phases. It allows us to get data before developing and launching a feature.
Pros
Sorting trees
Basic user testing models
Understanding customer frustrations
Cons
Clarity of pricing model
Recruiting valid participants
Likelihood to Recommend
It's well suited for providing a wide enough variety of user testing methods to allow a CX Researcher enough tools to get valid data and insights.
It's not suited to more hands on methods of user testing or supporting some unmoderated forms of reviewing like asking a user to walk through a site whilst acting out specific scenarios and providing the recordings.
We use UserTesting as users and product marketers to AB and beta test our products. This helps us understand how users perceive our product, allowing us to go beyond the basic requirements and create a good UX. Our suite of over 400 products undergoes rigorous testing before being made live, and UT has a critical impact on ensuring delivery quality.
Pros
Great platform to find verifiable users who'd actually provide actionable feedback.
Great place to earn a side buck for curious souls.
The matching algorithm works well, and one can usually accurately align the product sellers and testers.
Cons
A centralized platform to recommend products and use cases would be handy so that users can suggest what they could use more of.
Integration with newer payment methods and gift card services could expand the user base.
Some products are business-critical and thus require sophisticated testing. This service could be added.

UT is best suited for launching new apps in the marketplace, where users can test it end to end to check features. It's not suited for minor releases since we need not get the same users with the same context to retest the changes.
We conducted over 800 usability tests on the platform to make crucial decisions on design implementations. This really helped us in achieving good results with our design changes. What I liked about it, was that the results came in so quickly and within an hour you had already a lot of responses. It made things much easier to understand where pain points were and how to make better choices.
Pros
Quick Results
Intuitive Platform
Large pool of users
Cons
Sales Team
Cost
Analysis features

For usability testing, it's perfect. It allows a variety of type of questions and the unlimited plan allows you to test everything, which is nice because you don't have to choose what to test. It was promoted as a "test everything" tool, but once we wanted to renew, the sales team did not like our power usage and was very unfriendly in making offers.
Evaluating new product features with real users: UserTesting helps us gather feedback on new product features before they are released to the general public. We create tests for specific user flows and invite participants to provide feedback on their experience using the feature. This allows us to identify any issues or pain points early on and make necessary adjustments before releasing the feature.
Pros
easy setup of ux testing
recording of videos
Cons
Testers quality has degraded over time and they could benefit from acquiring more motivated testers
Make it easier to distribute mobile app builds
Tester sometimes don't answer screener questions truthfully creating unnecessary work for our team
Likelihood to Recommend
Well-suited scenarios
Basic and quick user testing for general user segments: UserTesting is great for getting quick and basic feedback on general user segments. It is easy to set up and can provide valuable insights into the user experience of a product.Testing specific features or user flows: UserTesting can be effective in evaluating the usability of specific features or user flows. This can help identify any issues or pain points that need to be addressed.
Less appropriate scenarios
Requiring specific user segments: If you require testers from a specific demographic or with certain qualifications, UserTesting may not be the best option. In my experience, relying on UserTesting to recruit specific user segments often resulted in low quality testers and unreliable feedback.In-depth research: UserTesting may not be suitable for conducting in-depth research. If you need more detailed feedback or want to conduct more complex studies, it may be better to use other research methods or tools.

I use UserZoom mostly for: - Running unmoderated user testing sessions for client's websites - Gathering feedback on designs / concepts / journeys / prototypes / information architecture, like I would via UsabilityHub
Pros
Easy to use & a good interface
Allows us to research more because it's got a few bits included in their plans
Gets good, reliable results when we use it
Cons
It can take longer to source participants than other platforms
It's quite expensive and needs to be used a lot to justify this
Some parts of the interface can be a little much for a simple task
Likelihood to Recommend
It's well suited for a larger organisation that wants a tool that allows them to easily research ideas / journeys combining a few methodologies in one, that multiple teams can have access to and research without extra costs involved
I use it to make monthly income. This is one of the best reliable money avenues in my freelance position. I can rely on this company to deposit the income without having to chase them down nor cresting an invoice.
Pros
Customer service
Ontime payments
Easy to use studies
Cons
Profile
Software for recording
Not allowing the customer to create their own study
Likelihood to Recommend
They are understanding when it comes to missing scheduled appointments and customer service understands my concerns
I do all the web design for my company myself, so I often second guess if the site is laid out well. Just because I think that it is clear doesn't always mean that it is, so user testing is important for me to get feedback.
Here is my big problem with the software - it is prohibitively expensive for small businesses. They used to offer a one-off free test that would give me a rough idea of where to start, and then it was a more affordable pricing structure if you only wanted one or two tests. Now the only option is an expensive monthly payment, in the hundreds of dollars. To be fair, virtually all other companies are the same - but it is not affordable at all for smaller businesses.
Pros
Great ability to target audience.
Great flexibility of questions to ask.
Cons
PRICE!
Options for smaller business.

Honestly, the functionality of this software is one of the best on the market. It does an incredible job of really dialing in on what you want to know and getting access to testers.
We use UserZoom for usability tests. It makes it easier to have an interviewer, observers, and notetakers at the same time, it allows them to easily speak to each in case they need to. We also really like the fact that you can flag on the spot, key moments that will be for sure useful for the next steps.
Pros
Flag key moments
Easy communication between team members
Excellent transcription
Cons
The interface of the platform is not always easy to understand
Could be useful to show more than person at the time
Improve the chat between team members
Add features to the chat like sending images
Likelihood to Recommend
I think that if you need to do a usability test, and look at how users interact with certain platforms, this is the right tool to do with! It makes facilitating the interview so much easier as others can easily write in the chat suggestions and possible pain points they might face. Also very useful to be able to flag key moments during the session
We are currently using the UserTesting platform to test our current design prototypes as well as our website. Right from the initial pitch from UserTesting to date, I must say that we as a team were very much convinced with the results that we get out of the user tests. The user pool of UserTesting is qualified and it's super easy to set up the user tests. Overall very much happy with the results.
Pros
Provides integration with Figma for the users to test design prototypes.
Gives analytical data of the results.
Recordings of the user testing sessions also provided which is helpful for product managers.
Cons
UserTesting could implement the task bar at a viewable location for the users to test, as users tend to forget tasks in between.
Likelihood to Recommend
UserTesting is a magical tool for the product managers for testing their prototypes and features, the user pool at UserTesting is trustworthy and the results obtained add value to decision making. The responses are real quick and the ability to find a pool that very well suits your criteria of demographics is a big plus. Have used other user testing tools, but I find UserTesting the most useful as of today.
