Use Cases and Deployment Scope

UltiPro is being used as our HCM and Payroll system across the organization. It provides a single point of access for all employee data. It provides functionality to complete HR and Payroll related transactions as well as managing performance and development.

Pros

  • Salary review functionality is good. Being able to provide managers with a "worksheet" with their budget and real-time calculation of the costs as they determine salary increases.
  • Ability to do journaling for goals helps with increasing the frequency of goal updates and communication between the employee and their manager.
  • Having multiple languages available for our employees is very nice.

Cons

  • Responsiveness for service cases and questions is not good. It seems that the staff at UltiPro, particularly in the customer service areas, are stretched thin and/or very new to the product so their knowledge is lacking. They typically have to check with someone else to get you an answer and that just adds more time.
  • It takes way too long to get special projects completed due to a perceived lack of resources.
  • The UTM module is very powerful, but very complex. There needs to be more expertise in UTM to support customers.

Likelihood to Recommend

UltiPro is not for a smaller company. It does require a lot of administration. A larger company that has an HRIS administrator would probably have a better experience. The functionality within UltiPro is great and we chose it because of the broad functionality. However, the learning curve is very difficult.

UltiPro is being used by the entire organization as a payroll and benefits tool. UltiPro combines all payroll and benefit activity into one system.

  • User access to all payroll and benefit related information.

Cons

  • Ulitmate Time Management
  • Earning and Deduction modifications - clicking through 5 screens to make an update is tedious and clunky.

We are using UltiPro for payroll and human resources. We also utilize the recruitment feature. The recruitment feature allows us to streamline the hiring process from job posting to applicant processing.

Pros

  • Ability to post jobs
  • Seamless processing of applicants
  • One stop shop for employees

Cons

  • Business Intelligence training...needs more hours to spend on this free of charge

Likelihood to Recommend

I am only familiar with two HRIS products, ADP and UltiPro. UltiPro is much easier to use in most aspects as opposed to ADP because of the recruitment feature. Being able to bring on a candidate from the application all the way to onboarding is extremely valuable and time saving for our HR department.

We Heart UltiPro!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use UltiPro across our organization for employee self-service, manager self-service, payroll and reporting. This system helps us manage and organize data related to our 650 employees.

Pros

  • We are completely confident in the data within UltiPro. With our previous provider, we were not confident in changes made in various parts of the system. We appreciate the single source of data.
  • We appreciate the self-service for our employees, and the access that our managers have to the data of their team.

Cons

  • We have had a bit of trouble with integration of 3rd party vendors, specifically our 401k administrator.
  • The scope of capability of the product is overwhelming! But, that isn't really a weakness, right?! We just need to devote a fair amount of time and energy to truly optimize our use of the system.

Limited use across the organization. We currently allow employees to update their personal information, previous career information and education. Employee self service is the extent of the interaction at this time with limited manager/executive interaction in the recruitment module.

Pros

  • Great use of social media to connect users with one another.
  • Passionate about their software.
  • Wants to learn from their customers, both the good and the bad.

Cons

  • More ability for Workplace customers to do some of the things we have to push off to our CRM to handle for us. Such as fixing a history record.
  • Lighter case load for our CRM so we can actually contact her in real time when needed. And, assign our cases to staff that are in the same time zone we are in. Nothing is more frustrating than to get a return call several hours after close of day. We tend to play phone tag and then email exchange which can be cumbersome.
  • During implementation of the product and in some cases when creating a new vendor feed, it would be very helpful to talk directly to the individual who will do the data uploads or create the interface. We have found that decisions are made about what we want based on how other companies have done it. That has caused frustration for the client.

Likelihood to Recommend

I like the innovation and passion of the company. As with all software, there are pros and cons. Some of the technology is great, some is not so much. However, UltiPro does make constant innovations to their products and want client input.
