TriNet functions as a critical HR infrastructure for Information companies, particularly those operating without a dedicated in-house HR department or expanding globally. In TrustRadius reviews, it provides comprehensive HRIS capabilities and expert support, enabling smaller entities to efficiently manage the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment to termination. A significant benefit, cited by 5 of 6 reviewers, is the platform's ability to streamline HR, payroll, and compliance, which is essential for agile information businesses navigating complex regulatory landscapes and distributed teams.

Reviewers also commend responsive customer support across HR, benefits, and payroll, alongside improved benefit offerings, especially for distributed workforces. While HR compliance is a strong area, the impact on overall administrative burden is mixed; 3 of 6 reviewers noted that reductions in tax administration might be offset by increased time spent on benefit administration, suggesting a nuanced operational efficiency for Information firms.

  • Comprehensive HR infrastructure for lean Information teams.
  • Streamlined payroll management, including complex compensation structures.
  • Enhanced benefits access for distributed Information workforces.
  • Robust HR compliance support for evolving industry regulations.
  • Responsive customer support for HR, benefits, and payroll inquiries.
  • Mixed impact on overall HR administrative burden beyond tax tasks.
  • Potential for increased time spent on benefit administration.
  • Overall sentiment for product areas beyond core payroll is mixed.

TriNet One of the best HR tools out there

Rating: 9 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use TriNet for HRBI at our small startup and like the speed and flexibility it gives us to quickly add new employees and manage contractors.

Pros

  • Quickly Onboarding new employees
  • Employee onboarding policy acceptance
  • Employee Classifications (FTE/Contractor)

Cons

  • Integration with Google workspaces
  • User Interface
  • Employee Portal

Likelihood to Recommend

A small or mid-sized business or mid-late stage startup. Onboarding contractors for a short project. TriNet seems to perform exceptionally well in this scenario. For a larger company, it seems like it would be clunky. Also the UI is a bit dated.

Very good option for a PEO

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

TriNet is the PEO provider as we are a UK based business and TriNet allows us to hire, employ and offer benefits much better than we could without them. We also use TriNet as an EOR in Canada. In total we use TriNet for 12 employees, 10 in the US and 2 in Canada.

Pros

  • Benefit Offering
  • Time off Management
  • I9 Verification

Cons

  • UI is pretty basic
  • Longer hours for customer support
  • Reporting could be easier to edit

Likelihood to Recommend

TriNet is a great option as a PEO and EOR and is able to provide excellent benefit options, especially for smaller businesses that would not be able to get the same plans by themselves. It makes management of our US and Canadian workforce very straightforward and provides customer service if any questions are raised by the employee or employer.

TriNet is a great HRpayrollbenefits service for small businesses.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use TriNet for our payroll, personnel tax docs and benefits (medical, dental, eye). As a small start up without a full-time HR person, we were looking for an all-in-one tool.

Pros

  • Setting up new employees is a fairly simple process
  • Enrolling in benefits is easy and they walk you through each step.
  • Reviewing payroll, submitting bonuses is straightforward.

Cons

  • It isn't always clear what the compliance process is.
  • In the unfortunate situation of laying off employees, the process isn't explained without getting help from a representative.

Likelihood to Recommend

If your company is small without a dedicated HR/payroll person this service is a great way for a an executive to oversee the HR/payroll responsibilities without expertise or spending a lot of time.

All-in-one HRIS that I can depend on!

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use TriNet as our main HRIS system and HR resources to process employee lifecycle from recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, training, record keeping, timesheets, payroll to termination.

Pros

  • Payroll system and support articles are easy to access, use and manage for importing timekeeping records, pay adjustments, expense payments, recurring separation payments and tracking leaves of absences.
  • Customer support agents from payroll, benefits, HR, and leave admin are responsive and assists in resolving all issues in a timely manner.
  • Records and reports are useful and helps in planning and tracking progress of employee events and changes.

Cons

  • Applicant tracking system can be improved in having a function to search for key works in applicants' resumes.
  • Training modules should have certificates automatically attached to them instead of having to create one.
  • Mobile app timekeeping should be easier to use. Nonexempt employees find it less reliable and harder to use than the desktop version.
  • For termination process, it would be nice if the request for Separation Pay would trigger getting assistance from an HR rep to create the letter instead of having to actively reach out to an HR rep separately.
  • Allowing changes to a performance review that has been signed by the manager even after the review period has ended.

Likelihood to Recommend

I've been very pleased with the quality of service and responsiveness of all agents at TriNet. I am also very satisfied with having a reliable and easy to use HRIS system that allows me to manage each employee's lifecycle. It allows me to be an efficient and effective one man HR department.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use TriNet to manage HR, payroll, and compliance efficiently. It supports HR teams, managers, and employees through an easy-to-use platform. TriNet simplifies HR operations, reduces administrative burden, and ensures compliance, allowing us to focus on business growth.

Pros

  • PTO tracking
  • Customer Service Experience
  • User Friendly platform

Cons

  • LOA team and payroll team doesn't interact internally

Likelihood to Recommend

TriNet makes it easier to access pay stub from mobile app.
It does need to work on getting reports for employees that should describe the dates employees were on leave, pending requests, etc for easy access to managers

In my opinion, Do Not Switch to TriNet

Rating: 1 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use TriNet as a PEO, and I do not find the organization to be helpful. In my experience, our HR Partner is not organized, and unhelpful, always telling us to go to legal rather than giving any advice. I think our Payroll partner is condescending and rather than assist with providing reports when asked sends lengthy/convoluted instructions. All in all, they are not helpful for us.

Cons

  • Have Time Off and Time and Attendance speak to each other

Likelihood to Recommend

In my opinion, TriNet is not well suited for any company. I think there are much better and more effective PEOs.

Stay away from TriNet if you don't want to be be searching for a new PEO service in a couple years

Rating: 1 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used TriNet to access better benefits. They are a PEO service that gave us access to other insurance products and HR support. We used them for two years before we had to abruptly end service. Having a PEO service can be helpful as it gives access to support that usually will be done completely in-house without guidance.

Pros

  • payroll was easy
  • support for difficult HR questions
  • tax and data administration

Cons

  • internal communication
  • communication to team working for
  • benefit administration
  • working for clients instead of share holders
  • technology

Likelihood to Recommend

I cannot say TriNet would be well suited for any company. this PEO service should be able to last the life of the company. TriNet puts it's shareholders first and expect to last only a few years on the service before a shock value accident happens and they raise your premiums so much that it's an unaffordable service. and then tack on fees to enroll and end service with them. also the lack of communication upon benefit renewal process. This company should not be publicly traded because they should be fore their clients and not their shareholders.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

TriNet is Praos Health's outsourced HR organization. We use them primarily for payroll, healthcare benefits, and any critical HR-related matters. We rely on their service when we have legal questions or concerns about employment. They are also responsible for managing employment tax filings for the various states we use.

Pros

  • Service - Our rep Julie is ALWAYS attentive and gets timely answers when needed.
  • Payroll - people get paid like clockwork.
  • Benefits - TriNet has by far the most competitive benefits rates/options.

Cons

  • The software version we use (not the advanced Zenefits platform), is a bit clunky to use.
  • The mobile experience on the software is only okay, at best.

Likelihood to Recommend

For the areas I outlined previously, TriNet is the perfect solution for a young company (start up) to get 1) payroll services, 2) benefits (large offering, best rates), and support when critical issues come about and you don't have an HR Dept. The rates are the best. The people I work with are why I'd keep coming back.

I'd be lost without TriNet

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our organization uses TriNet for a number of things. They help us process our payroll, our employees can access and select their benefits in the online platform, we keep all of our employee information in TriNet for easy access, employees can put in time off requests for their manager to approve, etc. They also provide compliance updates/regulations and many free training courses that I have taken over the past few months. Being a new employee at my company, I had a lot to learn and TriNet made it very easy to get accustomed to my everyday tasks and whenever I had questions, their customer service reps were eager to help.

Pros

  • Customer Service- friendly and efficient
  • Payroll- easy to set up recurring pay for bimonthly payroll
  • Benefits- easy for employees to make benefits selections because each plan is given in detail with the costs right on the TriNet platform

Cons

  • Invoices- TriNet sent our CEO an invoice and we had no idea what it was for... it took several people to get back to us to finally let us know

Likelihood to Recommend

If an organization is looking for a one stop shop, then TriNet is the place. They make it easy to do payroll, benefits, training, compliance, time off requests, etc. It may not be as appropriate if an organization has a lot of contract workers or if they have a lot of employee reimbursements to process

TriNet First Impression

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use TriNet to manage our US benefits and payroll. TriNet also helps us stay compliant with US Federal and state laws and regulations.

Pros

  • The knowledge center is incredibly useful
  • The explanation of benefits/benefits education
  • Access to payroll advisor for one off questions when processing payroll

Cons

  • Response time to cases opened. Sometimes it takes several days/weeks to have a case resolved
  • Cases are sometimes closed without notice of a resolution or answer
  • Ability to add contractors and employees in countries other than US/CAN

Likelihood to Recommend

Partners in compliance- TriNet ensures our company are aware of changes in laws and regulations. TriNet organically sets up guardrails that help protect our company. Payroll processing is pretty straightfoward but wish we had more time available to process payroll on our company's semi-monthly cadence. We use an HRIS (BambooHR) to track timecards and often times are pay periods close the day before payroll is due. This is not enough time to process reports and prepare for payroll.
