TriNet supports our team of clean energy leaders giving us platform and support to manage payroll, benefits, 401k offerings, paid time off, and learning and development. TriNet has been a key part of our organization's lean tech stack, powering our HR team's departmental function as a one stop shop for supporting a growing business over the decade. Through benefits selection, management, open enrollment, and healthcare advice, TriNet makes is easy to do my job as an HR professional.
Pros
Benefits
Payroll
Healthcare Consumer Education
Payroll Support
Offboarding and Onboarding
Cons
401k offers, as a clean energy company, it's disappointing there are no climate-friendly ESG investment options that align with our teams' values. As human beings who care about younger generations health and environment, it's enraging to have to invest your retirement savings into industries whose business model is fueling and fanning the flames of a world on fire. I'm hopeful the TriNet team will work with the 401k provider to give more ethical, environmental, and social-benefiting longterm investment options.
Healthcare support and consumer education during open enrollment, we had some issues finding the right link to the support resources on what's eligible covered by FSAs

TriNet is a stellar platform for enabling employees like me outside of the HR function to quickly snap into supporting the team. It's very easy to get support, onboarding, as well as deeper guidance in big areas like payroll for different employee types, learning and development, benefits, and 401k
We are an organization of about 50 employees nationwide (~25 states), and TriNet is our PEO (professional employer organization). TriNet manages our payroll, state and federal tax filings, I-9 and W2 reporting; benefits (and acts as insurance broker); handbooks and record keeping. We also leverage TriNet Expense for our expense submission and reimbursement ; TriNet Perform for our annual Performance Reviews, and TriNet Hire for our Applicant Tracking.
Pros
comprehensive
responsive
bespoke
high quality
Cons
qualitative / workforce analytics reporting
ATS tailoring
seamless API integrations

TriNet is well suited to a rapidly growing organization with colleagues in many different states, that needs a comprehensive platform to support a leanly resourced in house HR / payroll / benefits team. As part of their single (base) plan, TriNet offers benefits coverage (including access to large-group insurance rates), comprehensive payroll & tax reporting; workforce analytics; easy on / offboarding, and other additional platforms (expense, perform, etc).
TriNet handles all of our HR and payroll needs. As a small organization, we don't have these capacities in-house, and TriNet has allowed us to streamline our HR and payroll processes so that they are efficient and demand minimal staff time. Employees are able to manage their own benefits, leave, and other needs right through TriNet's platform, reducing the overall administrative burden on our organization.
Pros
Benefits enrollment
Time off tracking
Payroll
Cons
Because so many things are automated, it can be hard to make exceptions or go back and correct errors
Likelihood to Recommend
For a small organization with limited administrative/HR capacity in-house, TriNet is a great option. They handle so much of the administrative burden and employees are able to communicate directly with TriNet, removing the burden on the organization to manage every employee matter related to benefits, time off, etc. Because much of TriNet is automated, it can sometimes be hard to adapt to unique situations or employee needs, that typically requires some back and forth conversations with a company rep.

TriNet serves as our PEO and is the core of our Human Resources function. We are a rapidly growing company and need to be able to scale quickly in multiple states both organically and through acquisitions. TriNet provides us the platform to support that growth and provide a consistent employee experience.
Pros
Payroll platform is easy to use
Employee onboarding and offboarding on the platform is intuitive and easy
Dedicated support is top notch - we always get answers to difficult questions
Cons
Time-off management on the platform is very difficult from employee perspective
Would like to see more integration with third-party retirement administrators
Additional documentation or webinars on Workforce Analytics would be helpful

TriNet is particularly well-suited for growing companies with limited internal HR resources. Adding a single employee in a new state is very simple with TriNet as they handle everything with the state unemployment and workers commissions. TriNet might not be as good of fit for a company that has all of its operations in a single state and simply needs a payroll and benefits solution. For a company like Priority Power, we need the level of support TriNet offers as we often encounter complex situations in the course of our business.
Currently we are using TriNet as our core HRIS and PEO - HR, Payroll, Benefits, Reporting. We also use TriNet for compliance purposes, and are soon to be rolling out TriNet Expenses. Due to the limited functionality, we do not utilize TriNet for a majority of core HR/People functions such as Org Charting, Employee Directory, Performance Management, New Hire Onboarding, Background Checks, or Headcount Planning.
Pros
Benefit/PEO administration.
Automated payroll processing.
State/Federal wage + employment compliance.
Cons
Performance management.
Org chart/employee directory.
Onboarding/headcount planning.
Reporting.
Likelihood to Recommend
TriNet is useful for small businesses who only have minimal HR, Payroll + Benefit Administration at top of mind. Anything more, and TriNet will fall considerably short of its competitors. A dynamic HRIS with higher functionality around Performance Management, Reporting, Onboarding, Engagement, Org Charting, Employee Directory, etc. is always on my mind as a People leader and administrator. We've had to invest in many non-integrated supplemental technologies in order to fill the gaps that TriNet leaves, and have struggled with their Customer Support model as well.

The HR department in Austria runs the payroll entries and the Management department in the USA uses it to control vacation. Our staff in the USA uses TriNet to view payslips, choose benefits, read the TriNet handbook information, etc.
Pros
HR professionals assist us on specific labor law issues, on offer draft, etc.
Service staff helps us on general and payroll related questions or they refer us to a specialist; their reaction is very quick.
There are visa specialists who help in visa issues.
Benefits setup is easy with TriNet.
401k is well organized.
Cons
Tax issues are always referred to tax consultants.
Major legal issues are referred to lawyers.
Likelihood to Recommend
Quick, professional reply on requests.

We have used TriNet across our whole organization as a PEO since the company's inception in 2001. What we see as an advantage is that TriNet offers payroll, benefits, hr support, etc. as a complete package. We don't have to contract a payroll company and then try to find benefits that will work for our people.
Pros
Supportive of our company through several transitions, growth spurts, as well as downsizing.
Provides a comfort level that our payroll will happen on a timely and accurate basis.
Provides several levels of support based on questions or needs that allow for answers quickly.
Cons
We have had a few problems in the area of payroll as it relates to additional deductions such as 401K. It appears to be a timing issue that took a while to resolve.
They have limitations on who I can talk to. For example, I would like to sometimes talk directly to a payroll representative for back and forth dialogue, but instead I have to provide details on the issue to my rep and she goes back to payroll.
I still have some trouble creating specific reports through passport -- it may be just user error, but it is frustrating.

To use an old term, TriNet allows for one-stop shopping for payroll and benefits at very reasonable pricing.
Our entire organization uses TriNet to access our Employee Policies, Holidays, view paystubs, request time-off, elect benefits, update their mailing address, and fill out tax forms.
Pros
Mobile app is useful for my employees to see their paystubs.
I like my 2 designated TriNet reps to help me (HR Dir) when needed (with employee status changes or more complicated issues like drafting a separation agreement for me).
The benefit rates for employees are very competitive since TriNet's population is so vast (my company is in a co-employer relationship with TriNet; PEO, professional employer organization. A bigger pool results in lower overall premiums.
Cons
The system should make "rehire" available. Currently any re-hire has to be completely re-entered, manually, as if they were a new hire. I really wish "re-hire" was a function; even if it just captured basic data like name, address, DOB, SSN.

Because of TriNet, my company does not employ a payroll specialist -- we have TriNet. Because of TriNet, my company does not employ a benefits specialist -- we have TriNet. I am the sole HR employee and rely on TriNet for all transactional payroll & benefit needs; it frees me up to be able to contribute people strategies for my company (employee relations, performance management, employee training, organizational development, employee engagement, etc).
The entire company uses TriNet. We have several employees working out of state as well. We have not encountered any problems. It is user-friendly and easy to navigate. All of the information I need for my company and myself are easily accessible. If I have any issues or need help, I am able to contact my representative and they walk me through what I need every single time.
Pros
Affordable Insurance Rates for employees - with good options for providers
Excellent Customer Service
Payroll processing, state taxes, etc are all handled by TriNet
Cons
Email delivery of Payroll reports would be great! If I didn't have to go in and get them, it would save me time.

Any company that is offering insurance benefits to its employees should look into TriNet. The rates are affordable for employees and the cost to the company is minimal. TriNet handles the payroll as well as all HR functions, with everything our employees need accessed through the employee site. Onboarding and legal documents are handled by TriNet as well. It makes hiring a new employee a seamless process.
