We are a consulting company and run multiple payroll systems for many clients. Trinet is one of several platforms we use, but prefer given the integration of benefits and pto tracking. We run bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls in Trinet, and each client has different needs. We are fortunate enough to have a dedicated specialist (Julie Moore) who assists us daily, which we do not experience with other payroll platforms. In conjunction with the specialized support, we appreciate that all HR items can be seamlessly integrated, including COBRA and 401(k) plans. This allows better tracking in one place.
Pros
Codes for Payroll.
Designated Specialist.
Reports.
Integration of services.
Cons
Same-day pay for last minute terminations.
More information for back-up/coverage when designated specialist is ooo.
Better PTO tracking reports for managers.

We had a client who had 2 different sets of employees (hourly and salaried). They also had 2 different PTO policies and pay schedules. We recommended Trinet as it allows us to set up both payrolls under the client and allows good tracking of PTO. The client did sign up with Trinet, and now, a year later, it was a good decision. The client requests quite a few reports and last-minute requests. This would have been difficult with any other platform, and Trinet was a good fit for them. For reference, they have close to 50 employees in total.

TriNet provides full PEO services for our business including payroll, benefits, compliance, and general HR services. The product is an improvement over our previous setup that had payroll and benefits on separate platforms, which caused an added layer for employees to navigate. The TriNet platform is easy to use and intuitive from an employee perspective.
Pros
Integrated platform
Clean UI and analytics reports
Robust health benefit offerings
Cons
Customer support was not the best
Difficult to reach our HRBP for HR questions
Difficult to navigate to employee forms
Likelihood to Recommend
Great for a small company getting started with the PEO model. TriNet is large enough to have a robust benefits offering that has multiple providers and many different plan types to fit almost any employee’s health plan needs. The portal is easy to navigate and includes access to wfm, paystubs, benefits, and retirement.

We use TriNet as our PEO and HRIS. It gives us a place to both handle compliance and manage the user experience for new hires and current employees. We have been customers for 10 years and have had a great experience with the platform and their customer service team. They help us address many day to day issues.
Pros
Payroll
Compliance
Reporting
Cons
The user experience could be better
I would like better dashboards
More room to customize insurance options
Likelihood to Recommend
TriNet is well suited for small companies.

As a PEO, we have implemented 360-degree Learning, an Applicant Tracking System, and Performance reviews, which are all new to our company and company organization.
Pros
Communication with Chat
Designated Team Member from TriNet
Steps on how to navigate or use a feature TriNet offers
Cons
Instructions on steps, maybe add videos
Chat always has me have different people tell me different things on the same topic I am asking
Payroll- Horrible experience with submitting payroll and the reivew has all these changes that was not requested
Likelihood to Recommend
the chat system to help to get tasks completed in a timely manner when needing help on something in the system
We use TriNet for their PEO services, so this includes payroll and benefits. We're a completely remote company, so benefit offerings are a huge factor for us.
Pros
Medical Carrier Options
Medical Plan Options
Cons
Payroll
Customer Service
In my opinion, system works like it is from 2005

In my opinion, if you only pay employees a salary and have no changes at all - TriNet is ok. If you have to contact TriNet for anything, be prepared to be frustrated. They charge a $250 wire fee each time there is a payroll, even when an extra payroll isn't needed. The system is outdated and reporting is cumbersome. We are using a workaround for time tracking because TriNet doesn't provide sufficient time off reports for us. The system is so rigid that no one can make changes without 20 people being involved. The only thing TriNet gives their support team is the ability to send, in my opinion, condescending emails about how long things take to get processed.

We have 100+ employees and TriNet has been great in offering payroll and employee management. The platform allows for easy access in things like creating employee handbooks, employer laws and regulations in each state and I often call in for support on a variety of things such as HR Consultation, how to improve our reporting, and payroll issues.
Pros
Payroll Administration
Benefits Prep and Education
HR Consultation and Employer Law information with weekly updates
Cons
Training Video schedule. I would like access to these vides when is convenient for me
The ATS
The User Interface is a bit sloppy and confusing

For smaller organizations without a robust payroll team to support payroll reporting and such TriNet is great. As well as great for those who don't have experience or know how to launch people and change management initiatives in their org. TriNet is great for choosing of benefits for your employees too.
Our company uses TriNet's PEO product. We run our payroll, use the Time and Labor Management platform, PTO function, utilize TriNet HR Specialists for complex HR consulting, Worker's Compensation, and employee benefits through the open market. TriNet's open market approach to benefits has been very helpful.
Pros
Customer Service - in general their team responds very quick. Our platform/payroll and HR specialist have been particularly helpful. Our designated platform specialist responds right away and seeks out solutions quickly - if he is out he always has a backup. Our HR specialist has practical and straightforward advice, I appreciate too that TriNet one 30 minute free legal consultation per issue as needed, this is a perk of the plan.
Benefits - their carrier connection platform and open market broker connection with NFP has been one of the best parts of working with TriNet. It was one of the main reasons we moved over to TriNet. Moving from a PEO group benefits process to the open market is a significant change; NFP has helped with that change. Our NFP representative is amazing, she answers questions, assists with any new paperwork, and so helpful.
Payroll - TriNet's payroll system is efficient and easy to learn. I've worked with other platforms in the past and can say TriNet does a great job with this.
Cons
Time & Labor Management (TLM) Platform - the TLM and main platform do not sync. So when an employee requests PTO, it doesn't appear on their timecard, only the platform. It is also has limited codes, so you can't write in codes such as "Sick No Pay" or "FMLA" for easy tracking. People get used to it, but it is something I have to walk new hires through and has been a pain point for our managers/supervisors. I really hope in the future these platforms sync. The positive the Customer Service team is eager to help provide reporting solutions and help where they can.
PTO Function - the PTO function can sometimes be confusing to employees. Your time doesn't deduct until it has been paid and can be difficult to calculate at times. There is an estimate balance calculator that is helpful, but requires additional training to show employees how to use it instead. The PTO customer service team is so busy that it can take up to 15 business days for a response/solution - once you work with someone they are great, but the wait time can be very frustrating. I think this is a team that could use more staff in the future - as a company, 15 business days is way too long of a response time.
Implementation - TriNet's implementation process as a whole was a very positive experience. We had a great implementation specialist and sales representative that answered every question and tried to make the transition smooth. Where there is a gap is when you are passed over to your permanent team - our experience felt very abrupt, I'd recommend TriNet scheduling a group welcome meeting with the Implementation Team and permanent team to explain everything.
Likelihood to Recommend
Overall TriNet is a good PEO to work with, especially with their responsive customer service team, payroll system, HR support, and benefit options.
Where TriNet could use improvements is some of their platform functions - in particular TLM syncing and PTO function.

Manager in Human Resources (Law Practice company, 51-200 employees)
Payroll, benefits offerings, PTO management, employee information management
Pros
Communicating compliance updates/information with the company administrators on a weekly basis
Providing a way for us, as a small business, to offer benefits to our employees
The platform is user friendly and easy to navigate
Cons
Sometimes with new features/tools, it seems that they have not been thoroughly tested from a user's perspective
I find the reporting/analytics tool to be confusing and not easy to use
Sometimes the customer service is not what we would like - sometimes takes several back and forth communications to get a complete answer/resolution
Likelihood to Recommend
We like that it is accessible for a smaller company like ours - it provides a way for us to handle payroll, offer benefits, and manage employee information. So the services and platform itself has been what we need. However, the customer service is not always to our satisfaction.

C-Level Executive in Human Resources (Information Technology & Services company, 11-50 employees)
My organization uses TriNet as our PEO for payroll processing, benefit administration, 401k administration, I-9 verification and reverification. Personally, my use case as a senior recruiter is to onboard new employees into the system, getting them set up with direct deposit, benefits, 401k and I-9 verification.
Pros
Smooth new employee onboarding process
Payroll process
I-9 verification
Cons
In my opinion, processes are overly complicated at times or unclear
In my experience, getting a resolution is not always straightforward. While the chat is available, the reps often cannot resolve the issues or misunderstand the issue leading to more confusion
In my experience, there are fees associated with simple requests that should not have fees associated, for example, when we reach out for an issue or question, we are charged for that.
Likelihood to Recommend
TriNet allows us to easily automate processes like onboarding, offboarding, payroll and makes benefits very accessible and easy to understand. TriNet does a great job with providing additional resources like benefits guide, HR and compliance resources, and The Wing to test your knowledge and stay current
