We have a small team with limited capacity to run our HR/Payroll, so we changed to TriNet to make that easy for us and also keep us compliant. TriNet is a user-friendly platform that we have been able to use easily to run payroll, enter new hires, etc.
Pros
run payroll
enter new hires
make changes to employees easily
calculate retro pay
Cons
In my opinion, customer service can be improved
when I ask a question to our payroll representative, I feel like I always have to dig for the information and it isn't just provided directly
Likelihood to Recommend
the platform is nice and easy to use, but TriNet really sold us on helping us stay compliant and a lot of times it feels like we still have to do our own research to keep us compliant

Trinet is used as a PEO for our organization. We utilize the benefits, performance, hiring, employee, and reporting functions daily. I love the chat because it is real time answers for most questions I have. Trinet allows us to house all of our needs for business within one entity.
Pros
Benefits
Hiring/ATS
Basic Reporting
Cons
Performance
Home page or dashboard
Response time to some claims

For small business, this is a great platform. But, as the business grows, it may be more advantageous to seek independent benefits, work comp, or other services due to cost.
We use TriNet for benefits, time off management, leave management, payroll and hr supports. As we are a small school, it helps us to have a one stop shop without having to hire multiple people to manage this.
Pros
HR support
Benefit options
Platform
Cons
Payroll support
Time off management
Allowing the company to have more control over decisions and access in platform
Likelihood to Recommend
As discussed, the issues with decision making, access to change things in the portal, payroll support makes me say an 8. If those things were improved, It would be a 10. TriNet is a big company and for smaller companies using this, it makes it feel like we are a small fish in a big pond.

Director in Human Resources (Education Management company, 51-200 employees)
We use Trinet for our payroll services including contributions 401k. The platform is user friendly, and the team are supportive. We are regularly kept up to date with key information and statutory requirements.
Pros
Customer Service
Resolves issue immediately or creates a case and follows up with
Key information sent out regularly
Cons
Outstanding cases need to be addressed and closed - from a company stand point, we check the status and still have some outstanding cases.
Likelihood to Recommend
Payroll services and understanding of regulations - being part of a global business we have limited understanding of compliance. Trinet offers this service. Even with the different time zones we still have access to chat lines to help answer our queries

Cons

For our company it is well suited to take the worry out of conducting payroll, and assist with HR compliance. The benefits options are affordable and helpful for our employees. This is what is most important to us.
We use Trinet for HR management, payroll, and benefits management. It makes these time consuming tasks easier and takes a lot of the workload off of our management team since we are a very small organization. TriNet has been very helpful for our team in allowing us to focus on other important tasks while trusting that our HR needs are covered.
Pros
The setup process is nice and streamlined
The communication from TriNet is efficient and not too intrusive.
They help make business easier
Cons
They could have more perks for employees
Likelihood to Recommend
We are a small nonprofit that has been able to get nice sized contracts that allow benefits for employees. TriNet has been good for us in this situation. If you do not have steady funds coming into the company, Trinet may not be a good option.
Employee onboarding was very easy and streamlined.
HR questions were dealt with appropriately and quickly.
All representatives that answered the phone were very knowledgeable.
Cons
After terminating services, we were no longer important to them and the quality of their services dropped significantly
Records easily available while being a client, became very difficult to get after terminating our agreement.
Likelihood to Recommend
TriNet is a great company as long as you are paying them. Once you stop using them, they no longer care about the quality of their support services, even though we have technically paid for them throughout the existence of our contract. TriNet handled most things very well until I chose to try someone else. Had the quality not dropped off significantly, I would most likely have returned to them pretty soon.

Administrator in Corporate (Education Management company, 11-50 employees)
We use TriNet for payroll, benefits and workers comp. As a small, growing, 100% remote company, we were able to hire employees in many states very quickly and provide them with benefits.
Pros
TriNet's minimum number of employees is 1. That was key for us as we were just getting started and needed to provide benefits in order to start attracting talent.
TriNet keeps clients up to date on regulatory changes.
TriNet allows quick hiring of employees in new states. (Quick, but as I found out later, not easy.)
Cons
Website is unavailable during key payroll review times.
No transparency into state filings-- impossible to get state tax records of our own payments.
Difficult to get straight answers or explanations from staff.
Administrative cost is very high for companies who don't need all included services like HR advising or recruiting.
Likelihood to Recommend
TriNet is the only option available if you have only one or two employees who need benefits, and it's easy to hire in multiple states quickly-- TriNet's service agreement promises they will take care of state registrations, state taxes, set up workers comp and provide available benefits. However, as a company grows, the administrative cost becomes very expensive. If the company needs to unwind the PEO relationship, it's very difficult to re-register in all applicable states.
