Thinkific serves as a comprehensive learning management system, primarily used by organizations to host and deliver online courses for both internal and external audiences. Reviewers frequently deploy it for managing diverse educational content, ranging from masterclasses to full academic programs. In TrustRadius reviews, its user-friendly platform, particularly for course setup and content management, is a significant strength, with 78% of reviewers highlighting its ease of use for non-technical staff to effectively manage and scale training efforts. Reviewers also appreciate its robust training resources and responsive customer support.
The platform is noted for its positive impact on business objectives, facilitating new income streams and expanding market reach for many users. However, areas for improvement include limitations in reporting and analytics, which 22% of reviewers noted often require manual data compilation, and challenges with granular course and landing page customization. Some reviewers also desire more flexible user permissions and consistent content formatting across devices. Despite these points, the overall sentiment indicates Thinkific is a valuable tool for online education, though its financial investment requires careful consideration for some users.

Thinkific is great for a company that is looking to build or enhance the knowledge base of their customers. Thinkific can be a challenge for companies with limited coding knowledge.
We use Thinkific as both the internal LMS, and as a training platform for all of our partner offices across Canada and soon the US.
The main problem was standardizing training across 16 different offices in Canada, to streamline sales training so it could be easily scalable. We utilize Thinkific as the training platform for not just sales reps training, but also training on supervisor/leadership roles and beyond through all 5 major phases of the sales business. Each phase has it's own training dashboard.
Pros
learning platform customizability
ease of course content building and hosting external elements
analytics and completion reports
Cons
auto formatting of some course building content, does not format well on phone vs desktop
filter by group functionality for website based content, it's mostly filter by enrollments
the plug and play web building is convenient but really we need a UX/UI designer to build a super good looking website. Plug and play builder works but doesnt look SUPER sharp if done by someone with no dev skills or coding ability
Likelihood to Recommend
To have 16 different offices have material that is unique to them, all on the same URL dashboard, as we can hide content from one office to the next based on their enrollments, this gives us pretty awesome custom options to tailor training here and there to be specific to each office
Thinkific is our new learning management system. We are using it to publish courses and certifications for our community, and also for internal skill development. We have recently migrated to Thinkific and are liking using it so far. Earlier, we weren't able to give badges to students but this limitation no longer exists, which is nice.
Pros
Badges
Customizations / APIs
Easy to use, intuitive interface
Cons
Badges need to be tracked, i.e., analytics need to capture badges
No option to limit students taking an exam (quiz) just once - major limitation.
Integration with our existing user flows became a challenge during migration.

Thinkific is well suited to design customize landing pages for courses or certifications. Implementing branding is easy. We are using Thinkific to maintain our course catalog, which is utilized by thousands of students each week. We're finding that customizing payment flows, for example, based on various permutations and combinations is challenging. There's some rigidity to the system, which makes it difficult to implement access for free users vs. subscribers vs. those who just make a one-time payment to register for a certification.
We use it for an external partners academy, training resellers on how to use our platform in the same way we train our internal teams. We create the content outside of Thinkific and then upload SCORM, in order to give a variable amount of sellers access to the content. The number of users is changing every month, and Thinkific handles this well
Pros
Works smoothly and quickly with no lag
Manage different landing page URLs
Customize landing pages
Cons
Weak reporting
No grouping of users for assignment
Content video upload and management is not intuitive
Likelihood to Recommend
For selling courses it could be good, or for managing multiple landing pages for example a course in multiple languages. It is more suitable for use-cases which are self-serve training, and not in the case that you want to manage different groups of learners, track their progress and ensure that they have completed assigned training. The reporting was rigid, and we experience multiple issues with the flow of uploading videos and using them in multiple courses- we were constantly having to re-upload videos
We are now using Thinkific as our primary Learning Management System, credit and course tracker, and are in transition to making it our main website. The product has addressed many of our needs, specifically streamlining all of our course registrations and sales into one central location. This has been integral to helping our company grow, while also making work more efficient for our team.
Pros
Simplifies the navigation and registration process for customers
Offers a high-end learning platform to improve the user experience
Highly focused on sales, with several options and features to make sure your courses are SEEN by potential registrants
Excellent automation features
Looks modern and professional
Cons
Completion certificates need to be more customizable, seamless, professional
Course Management - should be able to click on a course and see all enrollments, orders, etc.
Group orders and custom registration questions
Zoom integrations are disappointing
Need a better way to of tracking and controlling completion/attendance as a course/site admin. Should not have to depend on Thinkific to mark users complete, should not have to create an extra step for attendees to complete.

This would depend on their type of offerings. If this was for a completely online course company, I would say that this is a great solution. Unfortunately Thinkific has been a little more difficult trying to integrate live and online events. Attendance tracking, especially for live events, is bulky and in need of better solutions.
We use Thinkific for participant courses as well as staff trainings. We have people from all over the world that participates in online trainings, as well as hosts their own in-person using the materials within Thinkific. We have also started the process to convert all our new-hire trainings in to the system as well.
Pros
Organization
Flow of operations
Notifications
Cons
Reporting
Reset a user's progress within a course

I have found the assistance form the help team to be highly beneficial.
Currently, for my organization, we are using Thinkific Plus to create educational courses for new customers who want to learn our trading platform. The problem the business was trying to solve for was users not funding their trading account once they created an account. With Thinkific, we are able to give educational videos and materials to guide users through the process of funding and placing their first trade. This has lead to more accounts being funded.
Pros
Thinkific offers a lot of great easy to use premade templates
Thinkific offers an easy way to collect data and feedback on our courses
Thinkific offers great customer service
Cons
Although Thinkific has some great premade templates, when you made changes to code it becomes significantly harder to navigate.
Thinkific does not offer a staging environment where you can test your work fully before it is pushed live. There is a sandbox, but you would need to duplicate your work in order to pull it over to your live site.
Likelihood to Recommend
If you are looking for easy-to-use modules, pages, and courses, then Thinkific is the perfect tool. It is easy for content editors to navigate and has lots of capabilities. If you want to customize your site fully and add new features, you might run into issues. I wish there was a development team at Thinkific that would help with coding with the Plus membership.
We use Thinkific Plus for both internal staff trainings and external partner-facing courses to onboard and educate on new offerings. It helps us streamline knowledge sharing, reduce onboarding time, and scale training across teams and audiences. Its flexibility and user-friendly interface make it a great fit for our growing organizational and programmatic learning needs.
Pros
Easy user interface
Easy to add lessons and multimedia pieces
Clear instructions
Many options for lessons
Cons
More templates
More granular editing of course layouts
More editing features
Options for additional instructors in one course, such as teachers aids
Likelihood to Recommend
Thinkific Plus is ideal for short company courses, IT trainings, and program overviews, especially when quick, scalable learning is needed. It’s intuitive for both creators and learners. However, it’s less suited for in-depth academic programs or highly interactive, research-based content that requires advanced testing, grading, or peer engagement features typically found in higher ed platforms.
Thinkific Plus is the tool we use to distribute our free courses around the globe. We needed a solid LMS that could hold up to our audience size while at the same time providing a rich educational experience for our students. Most products made this difficult for us, either because they were too "enterprise," focused on numbers but not quality, or because they were too costly, great for smaller numbers of students. Thinkific Plus allows us to have a great front and back experience for hundreds of thousands of students and is easy enough for all our staff to build quality courses.
Pros
Serve large student audiences at reasonable cost
Promote quality education towards a variety of learning styles
Functional out-of-the-box, but customizable for unique needs
Cons
Community interaction for students
Common API for all custom functions (currently split between REST and GraphQL)
Missing RTL languages
Likelihood to Recommend
Thinkific Plus is perfectly suited for a wide range of "commercial" education applications. Whether it's internal training or providing content to a wider audience, Thinkific Plus is easy for students and for the course designers to use. However, it is not suited for full academic environments that might need better grade reporting, student status options, or any custom student data outside of basic biographical information.
