Great tool for enrollment management

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As the former Director of Undergraduate Admission, I used Slate for Admissions to track our progress throughout the recruitment year to see if we would bring in enough students for the following. Slate for Admissions was so valuable in helping us to run reports on where to spend our recruitment time and energy throughout different stages of the enrollment funnel from prospect all the way to enrolled student.

Pros

  • Run queries to identify different population subsets within the applicant pool
  • Event management tools
  • Tracking student enrollment deposits

Cons

  • Being able to have students register at an event without needing a wifi network
  • Easier way to update records for individuals who move to a different organization
  • Being able to start an application first without needing to immediately set up a user name and password.

Return on Investment

  • Helped us recruit some of our largest classes in university history
  • Easier user interface so multiple departments using one platform
  • Easy to generate reports based on specific criteria

The CRM of all CRMs

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Slate is being used by our university for the entire admissions process and for communication to prospective and applied/admitted students. It also being used as a contact database for organization contacts from churches to schools. It is being used for event management from overnight events to appointments and walk-ins. It is used for communication logging from sms messaging to phone conversations.

Pros

  • Their innovation and frequent release of new features.
  • Their ease of integration that makes use by any school absolutely customized.
  • Their invitation to be part of a large conversation on slate. [Their Twitter feed on the dashboard regarding all things slate]

Cons

  • Probably just the aesthetics of layout.
  • The layout and user friendliness of the mobile app.
  • As much as I love their organic marketing strategy, I would love marketing material to share with other schools while I'm on the road. [Youtube demo, clean social media channels, etc]

Return on Investment

  • It has dismissed the need for outside services such as Wufoo and Active Campaign.
  • It has dismissed the admissions main use of an outdated "crm": ECAMS.
  • It has intertwined the way that we house everything from digital documents to interactions in a simpler interface.

Clean Slate

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My university uses Slate[, by Technolutions] to manage applications for prospective students.

Pros

  • Organizing diverse sets of information
  • Fairly easy to navigate
  • Condenses info into downloadable pdf

Cons

  • Doesn't automatically advance to the next application in the queue once one application is processed
  • Doesn't allow an easy view of other queues to see what is coming down the pike
  • Doesn't allow users to copy email of applicants

Return on Investment

  • We aren't really a business, per se, but a nonprofit university. However, Slate[, by Technolutions] does allow us to easily sort applications into categories for different departments to review. And it provides a clear trail of who is looking at various documents when--and how long it takes to process them.
