Cons

We had a very good experience with our employee engagement. We also have good ease of use with any training feedback. It was a bit of a challenge on the data analysis with customers.
This software is being used by my school district, across all schools, mainly for feedback in professional development classes but also from principals to teachers as a way of receiving multiple feedback.
Pros
Makes it simple to use, answer questions and submit the answers.
Provides good generalizations according to the feedback received.
Is a simple way of accumulating opinions about a variety of topics while not being too invasive.
Cons
Provide some ways to remedy the data accumulated by the administrator.
Making the questions more engaging with a gif or an image to encourage usage.
Keeping the surveys to a minimum of 3-5 main questions is needed in order to reduce the likelihood of non-participants.
Likelihood to Recommend
This software is very well suited for situations where a group of individuals is being asked about their work experience, meeting, professional development, training, etc.. in any way while it is desired by the admin to alter the way content is delivered for better results to educators, etc… This software would be less appropriate in a setting where questions from only a few individuals are taken, making it easier to tell which person likely answered which survey.
I feel that one of the strengths of Survey Monkey is its ability to function in a variety of ways for different levels of users. We use Qualtrics surveys for the vast majority of our organizational needs. Qualtrics is a feature-heavy and robust platform that we have been working with for some time. With that being said many users find the interface too intimidating and prefer to use Survey Monkey. There are people that are familiar with using Survey Monkey outside of the work environment so already have some skill developed on how to create a survey, extract the results, and comprehend the metrics. We largely use Survey Monkey to meet the needs of these users. That isn't to say that in comparison Survey Monkey is featureless and lacks robustness, it isn't. It is a quick, simple, straightforward platform and there is a segment of our populous that appreciates that.
Pros
Allows you to collect responses quickly and easily.
Gives you tools to analyze your results.
Has tools to customize design elements and branding.
Creates PDF of the results for viewing offline.
Has flexible pricing models.
Cons
I find the dashboard a little intimidating and too clustered.
The name of the product sounds so childish and unprofessional.
You will need to unsubscribe from their email communications after you create an account.
Likelihood to Recommend
Frankly, just based on the name alone I dislike using Survey Monkey for use with our external clients. Qualtrics seem better suited and more professional for those situations. Survey Monkey works really well for creating quick surveys that you want responses for over a short period of time that doesn't require a lot of analysis and follow-up with non-participants. I don't like that Survey Monkey advertises for themselves at the end of every survey so that is another reason I do not like them for higher stakes used. If you just want to aggregate opinion and take a temperature check on something Survey Monkey is a great way to do that.

We use SurveyMonkey for ad hoc internal surveys as well as exit interviews and company feedback.
Pros
Customization. I can build my questions as I see fit.
Logic Controls. I can utilize branching logic rather than tell the user to skip ahead to a number.
Pagination. I can separate the survey into pages to eliminate a lot of scrolling.
Cons
I don't have any beef with SurveyMonkey as it currently sits, simply because my use is limited to impromptu internal surveys and exit interviews, neither of which require much pizzazz.
Likelihood to Recommend
The surveys can be completely anonymous, which means your results will not be hindered by a user who is afraid of retaliation. The design and logic features make it simple to create and adjust the survey. This is the easiest tool of its kind that I have used, and it certainly beats trying to build my own in HTML.

SurveyMonkey is mainly being used to solicit feedback and to gain opinions from stakeholders and consumers in research and insights work. Usually it's to understand consumer behaviors and to gain alignment from across the organization. I would say it's a tool that easily allows for an easy survey to be programmed and fielded. I'm in marketing and communications.
Pros
Easy to program.
Navigation.
Cons
Lack of flexibility.
Difficult to program more elegant surveys.
Likelihood to Recommend
I think there are better options out there. If you're in the process of looking for survey tools, you should look into a variety of SurveyMonkey's competitors before making a decision on what to buy.

Employee in Marketing (Hospital & Health Care company, 1001-5000 employees)
SurveyMonkey is being used across our organization to conduct market research and gather customer feedback. It is also used to gather employee feedback within the organization by filing out surveys that are shared across teams. Whether simple or complex surveys are created within minutes and reaching millions of respondents to collect and analyze data has become hassle free through SurveyMonkey.
Pros
A wide question bank that offers customization questions of different types such as market research, customer satisfaction, employee feedback, demographics etc.
The surveys can be customized to match our brand by adding the company logo, company name and images.
One handy URL to collect responses from millions of respondents.
Cons
More options to customize the look of the surveys for a full custom branding
They should be able to offer live support within their site for faster communication with users.
Likelihood to Recommend
SurveyMonkey is appropriate for creating online surveys from scratch and even while on the go that are used to access a huge number of respondents who provide answers that are needed to make critical decisions. There is an option of using a URL that can be linked to the company website, Facebook account, emails and more.
We implemented SurveyMonkey for our entire institution as an easy way to share surveys internally and with external users.
Pros
Ease-of-use
Template design
Shareable links
Cons
Reporting could be more intuitive
More question options
Number of user "seats" per account
Likelihood to Recommend
SurveyMonkey is very intuitive and easy to use when you need a quick survey and a convenient way to send it to others. There are a number of templates available, and the option to design your own survey from scratch. SurveyMonkey makes it easy to share a survey with others inside or outside of your organization, via link.

Employee in Information Technology (Education Management company, 1001-5000 employees)
We specifically use SurveyMonkey to get quick and easy feedback from employees. For example, discussions around future work from home opportunities throughout the pandemic, willingness to participate in different culture committee events, and general feedback on technology roll outs. We use it as needed as opposed to something on a regular basis.
Pros
Quick.
Easy.
User friendly.
Cons
Security - I haven't spent much time exploring their security, but by default would not put sensitive information in any of the surveys.
Notifications - I think the logistics of setting up notifications as a survey creator are a little clunky.
Likelihood to Recommend
It's appropriate to get quick, short responses from employees/end users. There are great options for varied answer types (i.e. multiple choice, drop downs, text responses) that allow it to suit most needs. I think the most important thing is to keep surveys as concise as possible in order to solicit the best responses.

Project Manager in Information Technology (Financial Services company, 5001-10,000 employees)
Our department uses [SurveryMonkey] at least once a month after staff meetings to see what went well and what didn’t go well. It’s a very simple website to use and I enjoy using it. I don’t think there have been any problems with it! It helps our unit stay organized and stay running on a tight ship!
Pros
Fast
Efficient
Easy
Cons
Small glitches occasionally
More options
More themes
Likelihood to Recommend
I think [SurveryMonkey] can be suited for a large number of things such as if you are a student and need people to take surveys for classes. It can be suited for company’s to send engagement surveys out to their employees about morale or an important project they need feedback on. SurveyMonkey can be used for a wide set of needs.
SurveyMonkey has been used in multiple ways- to gather various data, to assess what is the best time for a meeting, to find the opinions on a class, [etc.] I don't believe it is used by everyone, some use other survey sites, but this is the first one that I was introduced to at work. It's very easy to use and is great for getting information from faculty, staff, or students.
Pros
User friendly - it's very easy to use and intuitive, it takes you step by step through making the survey you want.
It's nice and clean - it has a nice clean look, nothing too distracting, easy for the survey taker to use.
Even the free option is very helpful - even if you don't pay for an account, the free option gives you much leeway into making a survey that can fit your needs.
Cons
I think it's becoming pushed to the back-burner as more survey sites come out - it needs to come up with something to keep it more relevant as other survey sites are being more widely used.
Give more options to customize the look of your survey.

I've used it for gathering data to find the best meeting time for employees. It's very simple to use, you just have to get everyone it's sent to to participate. It's nice after you have received the responses to be able to view the data. It was always nice and clear and easy for me to see which was the time that was most desired for meetings. While I mostly used it for that scenario, it really could be used very broadly as you can make any kind of survey you'd like.
