Family Business Facilitator

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have a family business. I have several PCs at my home office. My remote users use Splashtop to login from their home to the target PC at my home office. My databases and email accounts are specific to the host PC so the remote user logs on to a specific PC to do a business function. Each PC has a logon so my personal PC is only accessible from me whereas my business PCs are accessible by others. When I am out of the office I often use my cell phone to log into my PC to check on emails or look at a report. Spashtop tells me if someone else is logged in that PC and I decide to bump them or not. Its not practical to do transactions from my cell phone but I can browse with it to see if I need to login from a big screen PC. to take action. I take a small laptop when I travel which lets me check on the business while I'm away. Of course my host PCs at home need to be left on to enable me to login. When power fails occur depending on the length of the outage the host PC may be off so I may need to get someone to restart that PC soo I can login.

Pros

  • can have multiple target PCs
  • Security separate per PC
  • Remote devices can be anything
  • Have control assigning who can login

Cons

  • no sure

Return on Investment

  • Life saver during Covid
  • Enables me as manager to login and conduct business when travelling
  • Staff that have sick children or ill themselves can work from home.
  • Snow days are less intrusive as much business can be conducted remotely.
  • Our telephone answering machine creates an email of the message which can be accessed remotely.

Usability

Splashtop - A Great Solution

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our company needed a reliable, cost effective solution which would allow us to provide remote support to our customer's.

After a strong recommendation from one of our trusted colleagues, we decided to give Spashtop a try. We were not disappointed.

Now, after a few years of successful use, we can confidently say that Splashtop is the solution we had been looking for. It has exceeded our expectations for ease of use, capability and reliability.

Pros

  • Splashtop allows us to send a branded link to our customers for installation on their computer.
  • Splashtop provides as much security over the connection as any of our customers has required, giving them more peace of mind.
  • Splashtop has several file sharing features which makes sending or receiving files a simple process.

Cons

  • Finding areas for improvement is difficult. Our use case might be simpler than others and we have not found any missing features or issues which need improvement.

Return on Investment

  • Using Splashtop has saved us thousands of dollars in travel expenses. It has been a great investment.
  • Splashtop has given us a way to quickly connect to a remote computer and evaluate the needs of our customers, similar to being on-site with our own computer on their network. Super helpful.
  • Having Splashtop as an available resource has given us peace of mind because we know we can use it to make a connection anytime we need.

Splashtop - A Plug-And-Play Dream

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize Splashtop to provide remote workstation access to all of our front office employees. Whether someone is needing to work from home for a while or our sales team is on the road and needing access to their in-office systems, Splashtop allows us to easily provide secure, remote access to multiple employees across many devices.

Pros

  • Easy to set up and easy to use
  • Provides secure access and gives admins tools to monitor usage across users
  • Works well across multiple device types
  • Allows admins to customize which users have access to which devices

Cons

  • Slight input lag - not any worse than any other "streamer" but still noticable
  • If the workstation being accessed has a different number of monitors from the remote device accessing it, switching between displays can be cumbersome
  • Can be set to launch automatically upon workstation start up, but this function seems to occasionally fail at random, necessitating manual launching of the software by someone in the office

Return on Investment

  • Allows our sales team to travel to industry shows while maintaining access to their home workstations
  • Allows our company to offer flexibility if an employee needs to work from home for a time
  • Allows our core front office team to make changes in our home ERP system while meeting with clients out of the office

New and Very Satisfied Splashtop User.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a campus retail management company who, do to the varying technological infrastructures on the campuses we serve, does not use an enterprise level POS system. As a result, we needed to seek a remote desktop software company who would allow the different people in our home office to access and run sales/inventory reports in our store locations.

Pros

  • Easy to install and set up. I found it very intuitive, and I am not an "IT Person".
  • Flexibility to access using the desktop application, or from the web-based platform, while on the road.
  • Multiple plan options are available to suit a variety of needs. We were able to choose one that allows multiple users in our office to access a terminal remotely simultaneously, which is helpful.
  • Great customer service. Our Ales representative, Anne, was invaluable and accommodating with the numerous questions I had when selecting Splashtop and then finding the appropriate plan.

Cons

  • Right now, we can have up to two users (based on our selected plan) access a terminal remotely. It would be great if this could be increased to aid collaboration among employees accessing the terminal from different locations.

Return on Investment

  • Since we cannot utilize an enterprise-level POS system, Splashtop bridges the data gap between our store locations and our headquarters. This is what enables us to function. Without remote terminal access, our business would be unable to operate. Period. I can't overstate this.

Once does not simply remote access in your business... Unless its with Splashtop.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Splashtop across our entire organization with varying purposes. Splashtop allows remote access flexibility for the entire staff, even though in-office is required most of the time. Splashtop offers a nearly 100% productivity level in emergency situations, should the office be closed from inclement weather or something similar. We have already used it to this effect, and it's highly efficient and effective. Before Splashtop, we used a competitor's remote access tool that has been around a very long time, and the performance and reliability of Splashtop vs. that old product was literally shocking for our tech committee during the proposal to switch to Splashtop.

Additionally, IT utilizes Splashtop for efficient virtual server access, software/policy deployments, and emergency SOS access for out-of-office users, both on desktop devices and mobile devices.

Our adoption of Splashtop has been game-changing for our organization. The ability to have reliable remote access, coupled with the more advanced Enterprise tools, has probably increased efficiency so much that it's had a direct impact on business revenue.

Pros

  • Unbelievable performance! It's so fast I tested a PC game through it just for fun, and it was incredible!
  • The increase in productivity throughout our organization has been notable. The flexibility of employees to occasionally work remotely, when needed, has been hugely beneficial.
  • Enterprise IT tools like One-to-Many actions has saved us a lot of time and headache in certain situations, such as deploying a basic MSI or script. SOS has been a saving grace for some employees to receive remote IT support in emergency situations, as well.

Cons

  • I would like to see an integration with a wider variety of antivirus XDRs. We spend a lot of money on Sophos, which is arguably the most effective product on the market. It would be nice if Splashtop and Sophos Central could work together to increase some efficiency and security.
  • It would be really great if PCs or devices could be excluded from the antivirus monitoring of Splashtop. For example, some employees use the Splashtop Streamer on home PCs (not owned by the company), so they can remote to their home machines while at the office. Occasionally, Splashtop will report threats to a home user PC that are false or breach personal privacy. Then, those get logged with the device forever. The ability to have IT Admins command Splashtop to ignore device security would be very welcomed.

Return on Investment

  • Prior to the onboarding with Splashtop, our employees were basically of the mind that productive and reliable remote access was unrealistic. However, since we're a practicing law firm, the billable hours for attorneys has increased around 15% since they can essentially work anytime/any day without coming to the office.
  • Splashtop has provided a solid piece of our Disaster Recovery Plan and backup systems. Prior to Splashtop, inclement weather would close the office and cease 95% of productivity, which could last a day or a week, sometimes multiple times annually. With Splashtop, it doesn't matter if the physical office is closed. As long as there's power, our employees can be 95% productive, instead, while being 100% remote. The remaining 5% is because our industry relies so heavily on paper. A 95% increase in billable hours and earning revenue on days that would have been 5% is quite good!
  • The relief that Splashtop has provided the IT department through real-time office inventory, incredible tools for assisting users, deployment of policy, deployment of software, and remote access at anytime/anywhere is substantial. Splashtop has had a direct impact on IT's ability to keep services operational and efficiently managed, which in turn, keeps the earners happy and earning.
