Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I was a volunteer judge and was invited to use Snap I found the platform rather easy to navigate through student recordings and provide feedback. It was much more streamlined then using something like a shared folder and having to download multiple files. Quality of the media files was good and loaded easily. It was easy to type in feedback and move from one audition to the next.

Pros

  • Hold large quantity of entries.
  • Easily navigate from one entrant to the next
  • Easily type information

Cons

  • Some files didn’t load. Wish these were just blocked.
  • Maybe there could have been more details on the entrant’s end about what makes a good recording.
  • Not sure how to use the feedback method that the students don’t see

We are a non-profit arts organization looking for a software that was both affordable and could handle audition materials, form information, and payment. We were very excited to find Snap Audition and have used it since. It is amazing!

  • The student audition side could be a little bit easier for middle school students to understand.
  • Training Videos that can be sent to families and directors would be helpful.
  • A way for teachers to upload auditions instead of each student having to have an account (bulk upload).

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My organization has used Snap Audition for the first time for our limited round of December auditions. We are considering using it for our large round of spring auditions now as well (~1000 students). Three months ago, Snap Audition did not have the functionality to work for my organization in the way we needed it to, but in the time since then the Snap team has worked with me directly to add all kinds of functionality that we needed. There are still elements that will need to be added or tweaked for an audition round as large as we have, but I trust that the team will be able to take care of it. One thing to know is that every aspect of Snap Audition must be tested thoroughly before bringing it to the public/judges to know that there aren't any bugs that might occur. The admin interface is not the most user-friendly but easy enough to learn once you've spent some time with it. This product is definitely worth it especially for medium and small sized organizations.

  • Needs a more robust sandbox testing area
  • More robust registration form (needs conditional logic)

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used Snap to judge all state music auditions. It helps simplify and streamline the process between multiple adjudicators and creates a simple platform for students to upload performance videos.

Pros

  • Allows for comments/feedback of performances
  • Login/setup was somewhat straightforward
  • Videos loaded quickly and easily with few exceptions

Cons

  • Some videos wouldn't load properly, creating challenges for students. Perhaps widen the scope of formats accepted.
  • More nuance in the scoring would be helpful, especially the use of decimals in the point system.

  • Since I was just an adjudicator I can't speak to this.
