American Dental Partners uses SilkRoad for job postings, recruitment and applicant tracking. Users have different levels of access, depending on what their specific roles are and what the need is for their involvement in the hiring and recruitment process.
Pros
Database of current and past applicants
Tracking of applicant correspondence
Ability to indicate applicant eligibility for job, for future reference
Cons
Posting of jobs is a bit cumbersome
Formatting in text fields could be cleaner for posting purposes

SilkRoad is best suited for posting open positions within your organization and for tracking applicants. Interview notes can be housed within the system so they follow the person when they apply for positions in the future.
SilkRoad Onboarding, also known as Red Carpet, allows us to simplify the overall onboarding process for new employees. Generally, the process is seamless and does not require paper forms. The overall business problem electronic on-boarding addresses are reducing the loss of information from person to person when papers are passed between individuals, and reducing the risk of loss or tracking the respective forms. In the past, not knowing where the form was could create delays in getting information processed in a timely fashion for new hire employees. The online system also allows us to track the status and review forms after the on-boarding process is completed.
Pros
It keeps online forms available for review when necessary.
It keeps track of tasks required to complete the new hire process.
Cons
We're unable to write custom reports -- this requires the services of a software company.
There are limited options to customize the user interface.
Likelihood to Recommend
If using an existing third-party ERP System, don't expect the information inbound from SilkRoad to integrate without many hours of work and research. There are some systems it will work with out of the box, but others will require a third-party consultant. Also, reporting requirements will not be met unless requests are sent directly to the software company.
SilkRoad Onboarding (RedCarpet) has simplified hiring across our organization. SilkRoad Onboarding (RedCarpet) allows all new hires to have the same consistent experience integrating into our College and culture. Employees receive emails and log in before their first day of hire, which eliminates the "cold feet" employees sometimes get before beginning their first days. The video content allows for a welcome from our president. Information and resources are shared in both our College and city, so employees can begin to connect to both.
Employees can begin filling out their forms before their first day, rather than sitting in HR to complete everything. Email notifications are generated to employees with task reminders. Emails are also sent to the manager and to other departments to allow time to order name tags and business cards, grant computer access, prepare work areas, etc. so employees feel that we care enough to prepare for their arrival.
I highly recommend SilkRoad Onboarding (RedCarpet) from a cost-saving and employee engagement standpoint. It has been an effective tool for our organization and allows us to be more strategic in our new talent connections and engagement.
Pros
Ability to email and assign tasks to teams across the organization, so we are prepared for the employee's first day.
It provides consistent onboarding, so new hires can access information and become familiar with our organization before their first day.
Cons
Ideally there would be a job description connected for a new hire learning plan.
Transitions for existing employee role changes can be difficult to manage.

SilkRoad Onboarding (RedCarpet) is excellent for new hires! A well-defined plan is needed to execute the onboarding experience, but these can be customized to be as extensive or as simplified as desired. There is a learning curve to learning to administer the software. Task management for departmental teams is relatively easy.
We use SilkRoad Onboarding as our main employee onboarding tool. This makes new employees feel welcome, helps alleviate administrative tasks for the manager and HR team by automating many things. It really helps us look good and stay compliant.
Pros
Ability to customize tasks and notifications.
Looks great for candidates.
Automates tasks to alleviate administrative burden.
Cons
Could have better training available for admin users.

SilkRoad Onboarding is ideal for an HR team that wants to look like they have a ton of IT support building sites for them with the ease of being able to administrate it yourself. Also great for companies looking to go paperless.
RedCarpet is used across our organization - in the stores across Canada, home office, and distribution centres. We leverage the system to automate our pre-boarding/onboarding for all new hires. This eliminates the need for paper forms and allows all new hires to be processed by payroll in advance of day one.
Pros
Red Carpet is very good for complex organizations as you can set up as many or as few workflows as needed.
It is a very flexible tool so it can be leveraged for all levels of role and be customized for your organizational structure.
Very stable system - no outages; maintenance downtime; etc.
Cons
They have made major improvements to the user interface while we have been a customer but still have some work to do in this space.
On the employee onboarding portal; some of the functionality could be more robust (ie: Broader Font Library; more customizable skin).
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited to larger; more complex organizations that require multiple workflows or have multiple brands. This system would be overkill to a small business that really doesn't have a large volume of hiring or a complex hiring process.

RedCarpet is used by LPR organization-wide for all onboarding. We used to spend a lot of time chasing new hire paperwork and getting forms filled in correctly, Red Carpet solves those problems.
Pros
Automated I-9s - worry-free processing and Everify
Work flow for management of documents that several users may need to see - keeps you organized
Cons
The date fields can use some better functionality - just a minor needed improvement but it seems to cause trouble for those not used to working on a computer, they don't know how to use the calendar drop down.
In the beginning we had a lot of trouble with different browsers, that seems to be improving.

RedCarpet is great for keeping onboarding organized and your work flow the way you need it to be so all internal paperwork requirements are done to your satisfaction. The biggest flaw and it's not really a RedCarpet flaw, is that some people are just not computer literate and we spend time walking them through completing their onboarding. This may be more common in our industry but it is the biggest challenge we have with using RedCarpet.
The version of RedCarpet that my company used was a bit outdated - I feel that when I began using the product the set up already didn't match the fast growing company. Although we made many attempts to update and change the set up - it came down to just moving over to another system. I did feel that once I was more acquainted with the program it was easier to navigate. If you are to use RedCarpet I would advise using all of the Silk Road products so it will be all encompassing.
Pros
Customizable onboarding experience for different types of employees is easy
Employee view is very much like a RED CARPET experience
With a proper process everything can easily be maintained in one portal... this is all dependent on how well you set your individual settings for your company
Cons
Reporting
Security access

RedCarpet was able to provide our new hires with a very FUN and captivating onboarding experience. This is what our organization likes to promote...the employee life cycle is very important to us.
We currently use RedCarpet for all New Hire on-boarding and facilitation.
Pros
Very streamlined
Candidates/New Hires love it.
Gives users a clear picture via the dashboard as to where all aspects of the on-boarding are, especially to ensure everything is set for the new hire's first day.
Cons
The back-end set up is a little hard to follow and could be displayed better.

[RedCarpet is well suited for] On-boarding New Hires. Not great if you don't have a start date already established.
We use RedCarpet to onboard new employees across our entire campus. RedCarpet makes an impression early on for every new employee that we hire. RedCarpet allowed us to take our manual onboarding process that was tracked on multiple spreadsheets across multiple departments and centralize it. Best of all, RedCarpet has allowed us to automate the onboarding process completely. Once we set up the tasks that we need new hires or other departments to complete, we simply click "launch" and each new hire experiences a uniform and smooth process of onboarding.
Pros
Task Automation
User Friendly (easy to use!)
Uniformity and consistency for all new hires
Cons
The form builder tool is not super intuitive - especially as it pertains to creating and inserting lists for drop-down questions.

RedCarpet is great for automating onboarding tasks and ensuring that all of your new hires have a consistent experience. If you manage lots of moving parts in your onboarding (assigning a phone, computer, key card, collecting I-9s, W4s, direct deposit forms, etc...), RedCarpet may be a great tool to help you get organized.
RedCarpet is being used by VendorPass to onboard consultants for several accounts that we have. We use it for employment tracking and process E-verify through the system once the consultant is ready to start their assignment for the client. We enjoy using the system since it is user friendly and doesn't require the system to be compatible with any operating systems.
Pros
It tracks the progress of the consultant's online paperwork on your dashboard. You will be able to see what tasks have been completed.
Its very computer friendly. Never heard a complaint about not being able to access the site.
Cons
Maybe in the state tax forms when working and living in a different state, some auto populate fields when onboarding New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
Adding a task can be tricky as well. It is hard to locate the proper task you are looking for in the list. The list needs to be more user friendly.
Likelihood to Recommend
One of the questions we asked was if it was user friendly or if it was compatible to certain browsers and operating systems.
