What is Signiant Jet?
Jet is presented as a simple unattended content exchange that works within and between companies. According to the vendor, it is an ideal solution for global transfers between companies, especially for recurring, time-sensitive, large volume transfers.
It combines cloud service with Signiant’s SDCX server to manage and transfer on-premise storage to desired destinations. Its architecture is designed to give users the benefits of a cloud-native SaaS solution while maintaining complete control over media assets in the user’s own storage. Jet works with on-premises file storage and cloud object storage. It features folder workflows and offers event-driven APIs to integrate Jet with other applications. It aims to displace rsync, FTP scripts and other legacy tools, and replace them with a SaaS solution.
Through its web-based administrative console, users can schedule and manage transfers, as well as set up monitoring and alerts. Administrators can set up transfers to occur at a specific date and time, or hot folders where changes instantly trigger transfers. Actions can take place through the administrative console, or programmatically using its API.
The vendor describes Jet’s transfer capabilities as resilient. Its Checkpoint Restart provides automatic restoration of interrupted transfers, and it adheres to standards of enterprise security by incorporating multiple layers of security controls.
Jet relies upon the same architecture as Signiant’s flagship Media Shuttle transfer solution, but Signiant states it is priced and packaged for organizations of any size, and it can be deployed at any scale with no limit to data transfers. The starting price is $35k for a volume of 200,000 GB of data transferred, with overage charges of $.15 per GB.
Signiant’s customers include companies across industries with notable, media-heavy corporations including sports leagues, film studios and broadcast companies, gaming studios, journalistic and media entities, and digital media agencies.
