We use it to monitor our network devices availability, ports or tunnels flapping, temperature, power and CPU performance and critical factors, rarely internet line performance. We do use to monitor also IPSLA and latency. Integrated with our monitoring system to open and close tickets automatically. It can gather also chassis and SN info. It has more functions but on a daily job we use part of it
Pros
Monitor devices availability
It lets you set maintenance mode
the 2nd version is more readable and intuitive
Cons
Elaboration power
Install and customization support from Australia, very uncomfortable for other tmie zones
Newer version accessible only by rewriting the address, it seems to be still in Beta
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited for low IT budget companies, and that are using also other instruments. For big corporations there are software with better gui, more complete like Zabbix (even though Zabbix requires more manpower to customize it and manage it) or with better performance when managing lots of data like during P1 with many devices down
ScienceLogic SL1 has effective monitoring capability and the data management functionalities and its features are easy to customization and workflow management is effective. Big data migration is a very faster and more cost-effective solution and its documentation functions are quite effective the analytics are very productive and access permission management features are flexible.
Pros
ScienceLogic SL1 is very powerful tool.
Setting is very simple.
Effective files management.
Cons
Not easy to deploy the platform when new user.
Large project data management is very tricky.
The ability to migrate big data slows the performance.
Likelihood to Recommend
Effective Cloud monitoring for multiple services management through Cloud services and the data modeling tools are excellent. The database management and process control functions are powerful and effective in time management and easy preparing excellent and clean data reports. Its dashboard allows easy functions accessibility which helps with cost management and profitable solutions generation.
SL1 we have leveraged for ITOPS, which includes IT infrastructure discovery, CMDB update, performance monitoring, fault monitoring, alert management, and auto incident creation into the ITSM platform. It helps to address ITOPS problems. A couple of use cases server operating system performance, database performance, network devices performance monitoring. Discovery of all IT devices and update the CMDB.
Pros
Discovery of IT devices and update the CMDB
Network device performance monitoring
Event correlation of IT Devices
Cons
SL1 uses remote monitoring technology for server device monitoring, using PowerShell, WMI, and other protocols which are cumbersome to deploy required lots of effort to open the ports and start initial monitoring
Remote monitoring technology brings some challenges such as a number of devices to be monitored per collector.
Procuring remote monitoring pre requisites are time consuming and error prone
Data analytics & management required significant improvement
Likelihood to Recommend
When the requirement of monitoring parameters are limited and the client is looking for remote monitoring kind of tool, then it is one best tool. For deeper monitoring and where the client has limited options to open network ports this product struggles.

ScienceLogic SL1 is being used to monitor nearly all network-connected devices across the organization, however, it's really only used by the IT department. It alerts us when a device is down or unreachable and can also be an early indicator of network degradation.
Pros
Alerts can be really granular, allowing a small subset or large group to be notified of a particular event.
Alerts can be suppressed or put into a monitoring mode to allow teams to focus on urgent matters.
Cons
I'd like to see critical ping options have customizable time periods.
The system could be improved by allowing for less clicks and tab surfing.
Likelihood to Recommend
ScienceLogic SL1 is great as an early indicator and nicely consolidates events when digging into a device. It's more suited for a NOC and alerting than for a team that needs more details. This is a first step that says "okay, I need to go see what's going on with this device or the network at this site."

We offer monitoring as a service and we have many clients across the USA that are all in the federal space. This includes device monitoring and alerting on critical events.
Pros
The device registry is very helpful to locate the devices or groups of devices all in one page.
The events tab gives us a quick rundown of critical events that need attention at any given point.
Ease of navigation to various aspects of a device like credential, performance, properties etc.
Ease of reporting on the devices we monitor for our various customers.
Cons
Time and date stamp on every report exported including date range for which the report was run in any output format like PDF, CSV or XLS.
More detailed documentation for integration servers to integrate SL1 to SNOW.
Easier discovery whenever credentials change or the device class is changed.
Likelihood to Recommend
Very well suited for monitoring teams as all information is readily available. Cumbersome when it comes to setting dynamic apps that need customizations and how to carry it thru to version changes going forward.
As a Managed Service Provider, ScienceLogic provides internal and customer network monitoring as the backbone of our service offering.
Pros
Extensible - the ability to build our own custom monitoring or extend the out-of-box functionality is paramount
Automation - the ability to automate routine level one tasks for Incident Enrichment, or extend further to automated issue remediation
Integration - the ability to integrate with our ITSM tool for CMDB and Incident sycnhronization
Cons
Scalable Architecture - improvements are in progress as we speak, but scale is currently an issue for "legacy" architecture
Application Performance Management - Again an area where major enhancement/investment is taking place, but a gap for legacy systems
Likelihood to Recommend
ScienceLogic is well suited for nearly all scenarios, with the extensible architecture allowing for a high degree of customization to suit many needs. With regards to functionality, ScienceLogic would be a great fit for an organization of any size.
ScienceLogic EM7 is being used by our organization to monitor our IT infrastructure, from systems, network devices, storage, VMs, cloud instances, URL addresses, and more. Monitoring of critical applications allows for proactive solutions rather than reactive.
Pros
Web-based application. No need to install client software on every system
Uses Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) to talk to systems and collect data
Quick, robust, and not as costly as competing monitoring software
Cons
SSL handshake errors in current version makes it difficult to create functional web content checks. Also does not resolve content checks for websites using encryption higher than TLSv1.0. Promised to be resolved in the next versioning.
When taking snapshots of top CPU processes of a system, the metrics are not always accurate or are missing. A graph would be great for this feature to see the changes in CPU % over time, rather than at a discrete point where the time measured may have already stabilized.
Likelihood to Recommend
For a cost-effective monitoring solution, ScienceLogic is as good as it gets. Our previous monitoring tool, NetIQ, was too expensive, and did not seem as robust as ScienceLogic. There were too many components, an agent would need to be deployed on every host, and the performance was not as great. One area where it did excel at was in creating web recordings, which ScienceLogic does not have natively, but using APIs can be integrated.
