Sauce labs was good until the service became too unreliable to continue using, when we tried to use an device it does not worked, and it made us very sad, but it did a great job when it worked. We used it to verify if our app was functioning correctly.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use SauceLabs for UI regression testing and API testing. A feature to show how many tests there are in total, not just test suites, on the SauceLabs Builds dashboard would help.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sauce Labs provides access to several cloud devices in Android and iOS with older OS versions as well, thus providing a wide range of devices to test on. We have been working on a POC to run Espresso tests on Sauce Labs devices and have received incredible support in the POC process.
Sauce Labs supports a wide range of test frameworks including Appium, Espresso, and XCUI Tests.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As part of our development build pipelines, we are using Sauce Labs to perform our Cucumber automation tests on real devices in Sauce Labs. Specifically, we're using the command line tool for running tests both from our local dev machines as well as within our Bitrise CICD. We have a dedicated integration automation testing team who are working using Selenium to build a set of automation tests for both Android and iOS The hands-on QA team also use real devices for ad-hoc testing on specific devices or OS versions

Pros

Selection and availability of a multitude of mobile devices
Simple-to-use command line tools and configuration files have proved to be quick to setup
Test results with videos and bookmarks make it easy to view failing tests

Cons

The website UI isn't always the easiest to navigate around, and some of the menus aren't always obvious.
Cancelling test runs from the command line interface doesn't seem to work, and it doesn't appear possible to stop a running test.
I'd like the ability to pull data files off the devices at the end of the test runs.

Likelihood to Recommend

Having used some of the competitor's tools over the year I would say that SauceLabs provides a lot of value for money if you plan to run long sets of tests with high frequencies. Paying for a single slot means you can run tests whenever you want without creeping costs but it does make running tests in parallel require an extra slot. Currently, our test suite takes over three hours to run and at the moment it is cost prohibitive to purchase an extra slot. However, having access to live testing and integration with Appium is great.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We need web driver setup to run our selenium tests, so we tried various vendors and finally selected Sauce Labs.

Flexibility to video recordings.

Pros

Video recordings are good.
We can access the video without logging into Sauce Labs. Able to share the management.
Customer service is good.

Cons

Execution time is very long compared to other web driver setups.
Because of the time it takes, we are not able to use our regression testing. We are using Sauce Labs only for creating test cases up to the test cases running successfully. If anything fails, we will get the video to fix the issue. After that we are using other web drivers to run the test suite.

Likelihood to Recommend

I can recommend Sauce Labs if we need to test if the given build is good or is working in all the browsers correctly. That means the scenario count is less than 10, so execution time does not matter here. But if we need to run a test suite with >100 then this is not suitable because it is 200% more time-consuming when compared to other web drivers.

We used Sauce Labs as part of our CI/CD pipeline and test automation. We used it for Browser/Platform farm Mobile device/platform/app farm.

Provides a comprehensive selection of browser and platform versions for test automation and CI/CD pipeline support
Provides a rich selection of browser/platform availability for customer issue reproduction
Provides a comprehensive set of virtual mobile device configurations for automation and availability
Sauce Labs' SaaS and self service tools work and perform well

Cons

Mobile app state persistence without using real devices
More cost-efficient mobile push notification capability
Lack of VPC integration

Access to specific devices is good, as well as access to a specific browser/platform. We are not able to connect our dev environments to Sauce Labs because the devices are put in our VPC. Some versions are not available like iPhone with iOS 12.1. With iOS, there is limited/no support for push notifications without real devices due to Apple's provisioning profiles.

I am the salesforce admin I use AQI internally and it's a fantastic tool that I will be recommending at any future company I work for. It allows me to set up pre-established test routines, make changes in our salesforce instance, and then run those tests (like lead-to-op, or op-to-close) and see where the new validation rules or automation flows fail. Can't live without it now, saves me and my team countless hours.

Pros

Tests new functionality
highlights errors before rollout of new functionality
saves countless hours that would have been spent on repetitive, low value work
ease of use has to be on here. A toddler could do this.

Cons

Hard to say. Initial training can be a bother, but that's true with any tool.
Once you understand the tool, it's the easiest tool in the world, but understanding it takes time and commitment.

Likelihood to Recommend

Again, as a Salesforce admin, there is nothing worse than creating a new validation rule or feature, testing it out in sandbox thoroughly, then rolling it out into production, only to discover that your testing didn't uncover a bug that stops the company from closing deals. This eliminates that completely, and in a way that is easily repeatable, and can be done in an instant. You essentially 'record' the steps you want to take to test a process, then you can replay it at any time after any changes have been made. No more testing the lead-to-op process a dozen times a quarter, with the click of a button, it's done.
