Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use this to make our procurement more efficient and streamline the supply chain. We use it for real time data sharing and this solves a lot of issues that comes with visibility. Transactions can be automated and this in turn helps with inventory management. Our overall regulation compliance has improved significantly.

  • Real time data sharing is made easy with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Automated workflows help us streamline payments and lower operational cost
  • Compliance management with internal policies and regulations

Cons

  • Can be a little more UI friendly. Some team member faced a significant leaning curve
  • Peak time performance issues
  • Cannot create invoice from mobiles

Likelihood to Recommend

It is very well suited for B2B transaction, which applies to us. The risk management is also great as it helped us diversify our supply chain beyond the big tier one players.

It might not be the best tool for small business as they have lower transactional volumes and the features might be an overkill. The UI can be a little more friendly.

But overall, our company loves it!

SAP Business Network is extensively used in our organisation mainly for connect across multiple domains to build stronger supply chains and deliver on the end user promise. It closes the gaps between trading partners, enabling transaction exchange, information sharing and partner discovery. Overall we are very happy with the integration and performance.

Pros

  • It builds stronger supply chain through good collaboration with trading partners
  • It also provides the real time dashboard with extensive details and continuous monitoring.
  • It complies with internal and external policies and regulations through configurable business rules.

Cons

  • There is scope to reduce the pricing so that it can become more affordable
  • The customer support team is bit slow in responding to our queries
  • The integration process is very vast and complex. It takes lot of time.

It closes the break points through digital transaction exchange and information sharing by leveraging the power of artificial intelligence. It supports product genealogy and access to supplier profile data using its well crafted networks.

SAP Business Network has proven most effective when there are influencer campaigns during product releases. However, I realized it was inefficient during the most active time of the day as the response rates slowed. Despite that, it was exceptionally effective in standard operation tests and made influencer contact intuitive and productive.

  • The clients can link with different systems and data sources, making the functioning of various processes more accessible and more efficient.
  • The audience can interact with high-performance and meaningful analytics that reveal all the critical indicators of influencers and campaigns based on the data/information approach.
  • It includes a marketplace for brands, which makes the search process easier to find companies to partner with.

Cons

  • It takes new users some time to go through the interface, especially if they have not dealt with similar software before.
  • It may still appear that customization options are somewhat restricted compared with other websites.
  • In addition, small businesses or start-ups could face higher subscription costs and, in full force, limit themselves to the quality of the social network.

I have also worked with social media management tools like Hootsuite and Buffer. Although these tools are best for scheduling and cross-platform sharing, SAP Business Network is far more effective in handling influencer marketing and teamwork. The opportunity to participate in a closed platform for influencers and collect analytical data made SAP Business Network more suitable for our needs.

The platform also works with purchasing by analyzing supplier performance.

  • Streamlined Purchasing and Supplier Management because it enables data-driven decisions on supplier selection by accessing cost performance and compliance.
  • Real-time supply Chain Visibility and Collaboration are important because they provide end-to-end visibility on the supply chain, allowing companies or organizations to track shipments and respond very quickly to issues.
  • Cost Control and Sustainability Tracking because it offers tools for financial management.
  • The platform also collaborates directly with suppliers.
  • Enhancing and enabling partners to update order statuses immediately, share documentation, and communicate issues.

  • User Interface Complexity This interface can feel overwhelming and difficult to use, mainly for new users. A more streamlined, role-specific layout will help decrease the learning curve and enhance productivity.
  • Limited Small Vendor Integration for smaller vendors to adopt. Introducing a Modified or simplified version for smaller suppliers will make it more accessible.

Its coordination capability makes it very easy to manage multiple suppliers and makes the operation very smooth, even when dealing with complex workflows. It also offers compliance tools that make supplier monitoring very easy to meet strict industry standards.

With SAP Business Network, our credit risk management approach has changed. The learning curve was doable, and the support team has been working up to our requirements rapidly.

It's great if your company requires you to plan for large numbers of suppliers and to track metrics around credit across all your industries. But it sometimes has a hard time dealing with legacy system integration, especially of an older ERP system. The platform is excellent at change monitoring as well as automating risk alerts, but can be slow to perform during peak usage periods.

Likelihood to Recommend

For indirect procurement needs its a perfect solution as once you enable enough frame agreements and the supplier for the transaction purpose it becomes a one-stop shop for everyone within the organization. As a downside, a lot of issues can happen with a direct procurement adoption as SLAs are still pretty long and lack of customization limits the number of direct processes that could be executed.

We have been able to get updates on supplier capacity, stocked levels, and shipment status and use those to be proactive about some potential disruptions. The platform's encryption capabilities for data in transit and at rest give an additional layer of protection for sensitive data.

SAP Business Network is perfect for supply chain complexity and global reach situations. It is a particularly good match for industries with sophisticated supply chains, like automotive or electronics manufacturing. Managing multiple tiers of suppliers shines by creating collaboration and transparency. However, it could be less suited to small-scale, localized production operations with simple supply chains, where many of its features may not be utilized.
